I deleted my initial review - however I am extremely shaken up from my experience that was far from normal. During a scheduled walk, the walker lost my house keys, which had my full address labeled on them. I was in therapy and unable to respond for about 30 minutes. When I did, I had to explain that the keys were labeled with my address; only then did the company bring up calling a locksmith. As a result, my 10-year-old dog was left outside with the walker for an hour, and would have been outside for much longer if a friend hadn't picked him up. It took 3 hours to resolve this issue. The company did pay for the locksmith, but communication was limited unless I initiated it in regard to status of the locksmith, and the owner said she would look for the keys but did not. I was also charged a cancellation fee on a separate day, despite explaining I cancelled because my grandmother had passed away and I had stayed home from work. They also charge $10 extra for "a late booking". Based on this experience and the safety concerns involved, I would not use this service again. The owner communicated with me respectfully but again my safety (single woman living alone) and my dog's safety were jeopardized - while the issue was resolved I'm shocked it happened in the first place. I'm sure this company delivers great services outside of this mistake but I can't keep this to myself as it was extremely upsetting and has NEVER happened in my 10 years of being a dog owner using multiple services. read more

To say I was worried about leaving my two dogs for a weekend is an understatement- But Ellie at Dog Camp was great! My two rescues are extremely timid and a bit high maintenance and it was the first time leaving them in the care or a stranger. But Ellie's presence was super zen, she listened to my long list of worries and she was very patient and sweet with my boys. Yesterday I saw a dog wandering on Berkeley near silver lake Blvd. The dog's collar said to call Dog Camp LA if lost, I called the number and they were able to pick him up within 45 due to a doggy pick up. I asked Armando, the employee, if he could please give me the dog owners number. I have three dogs and it concerned me so I wanted to make sure they would let the dog owner know what happened so they can decide what is best. He said yes at first but asked me to please let him call her and tell her first. I agreed and asked him to text me right after. Julabelle, the business owner, called me instead and said the dog owner felt uncomfortable talking to me. Julabelle contacted me with a number and said the owner was ready to speak with me. I did not trust her based on our previous conversation so decided to share this here. She assured me that in 20 years this has never happened and the dog managed to jump a 7ft fence and that the dogs' owner was just telling her that the dog just had done that at her Airbnb. Dogs can be athletic so that can happen. Or someone was careless and left the door opened. They have a good reputation and this seems to be the exception, but I did not like how Julabelle addressed the situation. I get that she is trying to protect her business, but as dog lovers Julabelle should have seen my concern over Ollie's safety and would have called back Ollie's owner. I was understanding and wasn't rude, I was just concerned, I believed that the dog owner had a right to know that her dog was not where it was suppose to be. He/she would have been given the opportunity to make an informed decision. read more

Dog CampLA rocks! We have our little guy walked 3-5 days a week, every week. They have never let us down. All the walkers are very pleasant and they care a great deal about the pets in their care. Everyday we get a report card on behavior, pee/poop action, or anything unusual. Given the little guy has belly trouble, this is very helpful for us to monitor his health. They refresh his water, give him treats and will feed or give medicine if necessary. Knowing we aren't often home until late, they leave on a light. In addition to his regular walks, we've used Dog CampLA for overnight dog sitting in our home for as long as a week. The sitter is very attentive, always sends us pics/texts and leaves the house exactly the way they found it. Hell, they will even water your plants!! Knowing the dog is in his own home with a familiar face is great peace of mind. Jula and her team are aces. The care and safety of your pet is their number one priority. They are very reasonable when it comes to last minute schedules changes or cancellation. We interviewed another service before going with Dog CampLA - it really was a no-brainer. Meeting Jula and one of the walkers definitely gave us a sense of who we were dealing with and just how serious they are about their business. Dog Camp LA is amazing! A while back, a family emergency came up unexpectedly and I had one day to find dog walking for my big Bulldog, Carl, who can not fly and can not hold it for 12 hours while my bf is at work. I called probably 6 local dog walkers and left messages for all of them, expressing the urgency of my situation... Jula Bell called me within an hour and scheduled an appointment to meet Carl. She and Carl's walker, Andrew came to the appointment and were as professional and thorough as they were funny and comforting. We booked them for the two weeks I was gone and they were phenomenal. A month later, I had to go out of town again to continue helping my family. This time I would be gone for 6 weeks and I called Jula Bell again with no hesitation. She booked us with Andrew again (and a few other people when Andrew was already booked). They are all saints for loving Carl despite the drool! Not only did they do a great job giving us peace of mind but when I returned Carl was actually sad when walk time came around and Andrew didn't show up!!! He was SO HAPPY with him, that he was depressed when I returned and took over the old routine. Not only that, Carl was better on a leash than ever before, huge bonus. As if all this weren't enough for a glowing recommendation, recently Carl got very sick. Since I have had trouble finding a veterinarian I really like, I ended up texting Jula Bell for advice and she answered immediately, asking what was wrong and giving recs tailored to his condition, our location, price and her experiences. I have been putting off this review because I didn't want to start any drama, but I cannot seem to forget an incident I recently witnessed. A couple of weeks ago, when we had extremely hot weather, I was leaving for work and noticed the temperature outside was 106 degrees, yes 106. As I drove off, I saw a grey car, windows opened about a couple of inches and a big, white dog inside panting. I drove past the car, saw the dog panting and so I immediately backed up. I had planned on breaking the windows, but right when I backed up, I saw a guy bringing out dogs on leashes. He saw me and immediately put the key in the door, opened the door and got in with the dogs he had just picked up. I was approximately 2 feet from the car and it was not on. This guy left the dogs he brought with him inside the car, with NO AIR CONDITIONING on while he went to my neighbor's to pick up their dogs!!!! Needless to say, I was livid. I saw the Dog Camp LA sticker on the door panel so I called. I left two messages and was called back within the hour. I spoke with Jula who was very polite, calm but sadly, nonchalant. She didn't seem surprised in the least. She told me that she knew who I was speaking about because I gave her the street name I live on. She told me the dog walker had been with her company for 9 years and was very responsible. She then said she would find out what happened and see if the air conditioning was on. I was so upset and I told her that I already told her what happened and that the air conditioning was NOT on. I was close enough to the car to touch it, but somehow, she doesn't believe me? What reason would I have to make this up? It's not like I own a dog walking company and am their competition! I have 8 animals of my own, and I pride myself in being an animal advocate. Later that night, I knocked on my neighbor's door to let them know what happened. I just can't imaging knowing what I know and not passing it on. I am not saying the company does not care for animals because I have not worked with anyone there. I am simply relaying what I saw. I just hope it never happens again as it was literally 106 degrees outside so you can imagine how hot it was inside the car. And yes, I understand the guy was just picking up dogs so it wasn't too long, but I wouldn't want my dog inside that car for even one minute. And for those people who will notice I only have one review, please note I signed up for yelp to solely write this review. This incident really upset me and I felt obligated to inform people who may use this service. Again, if you have had a good experience with them, I am so happy. I'm sure this guy just made a really bad decision and has learned. However, I needed to make sure because that one bad decision could cost someone the life of their furry, family member. I will not engage in an online war with anyone who disputes the accuracy of what I posted. Kindly remember I have no reason to lie and nothing to gain besides preventing a dog from dying. I have no other interactions to rate this company so I must only issue one star. read more

Jula and Dog Camp LA have cared for my Golden Retriever Byron for about 2 years now. This is a professional group of folks. They are fully licensed and insured, responsible, and dependable. They do a full doggie pre-interview. Every Dog Camp LA member is top notch and made me feel really comfortable about having them in my home and taking good care of my boy. I also love the great notes left each day about how the walk went, what they did, and if there are any issues I should know about. I also notice other dog walking services with big packs of dogs that they just drop at the park. Dog Camp walk/hike each dog individually (or together if they are buddies from the same home) and I like that extra attention.I feel like I'm getting my money's worth. She is one of the most responsible & respected people in the city- both in her personal & public life. I'm a very rigid person & fearful to boot- I'd never have a flake et al watch my house let alone my dogs- so that's why I have banned my family & friends from watching both (no charge) to paying Dog Camp to do so. I don't like parting with money either but I'd rather pay than worry. These are full time professional dog people. I've never had anything but perfection with DCLA & my dogs aren't tiny. I currently have Catahoula's, highly intelligent & "energetic" (code for 'will eat your house if not exercised & doted on') dogs & Jula's sitters have been able to handle them without incident. My 3 day, 2 nite sitter/walker was Leslie who took my dog on walks with other dogs (I could have had just 1 on 1 but was happy for her extra socializing.) My dog was happy when I returned - one can tell, right?! In fact, she likely misses the extra miles walked with Leslie! Dog Camp LA watched our pug, "The Count" over the holiday weekend. He's 13 years old, just had bladder surgery, is blind in one eye and has 3 legs! I was impressed with the sitters ability to get his meds into him. (This dog HATES taking his pills and is very sneaking about spitting them out.) I was nervous leaving my older dog, but could see from the daily photos that he was happy, thriving and having a good time! I appreciate the level of care and thoughtfulness that was given. (He has a hard time getting outside to go to the bathroom, he was well kept and smelling better than before.)
