Well, this is not the review I expected to be writing, but I'm really disappointed. And will be sharing my experience with others. This was our first visit after switching from a place in Snohomish for convenience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called to schedule a grooming appointment, but somewhere along the way there was clearly a miscommunication, because when I picked up my dog, he had only received a bath and brush. (And ear cleaning.) Great. No actual grooming was done. Which is what I called for when I made the appointment...[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's also worth noting that they ask for a tip before you even see your dog. I tipped, assuming everything would be done and I'd be very happy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It wasn't until I got home that I realized they hadn't trimmed the hair around his paw pads or sanitary areas...basic grooming items. (I had also requested the anal gland expression and de shedding, so who knew at that point what was even done.) [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called the next morning to see if I could bring him back in to have this corrected. I explained that I was not upset but understood that confusion happens. Well, there was no concern about making this right. I was told they don't offer that as a standalone service and that I'd need to book another bath appointment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] What?! Giving my dog another bath two days in a row is not only terrible for my dog, but it's also unnecessary $$. So that response was surprising. [[HIGHLIGHT]]After pushing a bit, they said they could "get approval" to do the standalone services if I brought him back and paid the price difference.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] At that point, it wasn't about the $20. The prices are all reasonable. It was about the lack of ownership and effort to make things right after they missed core parts of the service I originally requested. This was their chance to retain a new customer and they just didn't care. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I chose not to bring him back because the experience left me with very little confidence in their care or customer service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was really hoping to find a reliable local spot in Lake Stevens, but unfortunately, this isn't it. read more

We have a very large, very nervous dog - he is very wary of strangers. He has a loud bark and can be intimidating if you don't know him. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Finding a groomer for him has been a challenge but twice now we've taken him to Dog Day and things have gone smoothly - for us at least haha![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You can't really beat the pricing. Our good boy got groomed and his nails clipped and it cost less than the average grocery trip and saved us a major headache. These folks are friendly and professional and I know where we'll keep going when the doggo needs to get his ears lowered! read more

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Amazing customer service not only for me but for my dog.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Unfortunately, my sweet dog Lola was matted, the staff here took amazing care of her, reassured me and the owner called me walked me through what aftercare she needed even before we picked her up . Do not bring your fur baby here. Very disappointed. Full service was paid for, no services were done. Dog Day came highly recommended from friends of ours with large breeds who have issues getting their nails clipped, claiming they have great staff who can handle sensitive dogs. We brought our frenchie in for the nails/bath combo they offer, we were assured multiple times her nails would be no issue even though our dog is sensitive to nail trimming. We went to her pick her up and the employee informed us that they weren't able to do the nail trimming - which was the only reason we brought her in. The full service was $75 and we asked if it would be adjusted to a lower amount considering the full service was not* completed. They would not lower the price, she informed us $75 is non negotiable. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The female two staff members were both very rude when we asked this, which was unfortunate[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were then asked "how much would you like to leave for a tip?". I also work customer service, and typically one would ask if* they wanted to tip, not how much[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. To add, there was a separate female staff member performing a grooming service on the back and she was being very rough and aggressive towards another customers dog (it was a black doodle of some sort). After getting our dog into the car, it was VERY apparent she was also not bathed. I'm not sure if they performed any service on her, and I am highly disappointed. Our fur baby was also very timid once in our car, maybe they were a bit mean to her -- I'm not sure. Absolutely would NOT recommend this business. We took our Mini Golden Doodle, Stella in for her first haircut. I spoke with the groomer about what we wanted and she advised that since it was her first time that she would start with a clean-up (Face, feet & Butt) and see how she was doing. If she was handling it well she would do the all-over cut. I agreed that this was the best approach. When we picked her up she did have a full cut and she looked absolutely beautiful!!! They did such a great job! Plus, Stella was super happy and didn't seem like it had been stressful on her at all. I would 100% recommend Dog Day to anyone that needs a doggie groomer!!! read more

Love this place! We spent the summer in Lake Stevens and needed our old English sheepdog puppy to be groomed. The took their time to talk to me before I left her with them. Beware!!!!! these folks are advertising a certain price on there website, then gouging you for more when you go to pick up your pet. They tried to charge me $55 for a simple self service dog bath, when the price was listed at $22.99 on there website. The last time i was in here they charged me an extra $20 because they found a flea on my dog. Find a new place. there is lots better around. read more

I have to say how disappointed I am. I went tonight to take my golden retriever for a self service bath. I've never used one of these but figured I'd give it a try and would have likely been a regular client. After checking the website and yelp several times confirming business hours, I showed up at 6:35 (Wednesday night). The website and yelp clearly say that self service wash stops one hour prior to closing, which would have meant I needed to be there by 7pm, which I was. I walked my dog in and was greeted by a young woman who told me that they were closed for self service washing. I confirmed what the webpage said and she told me it's 6:30 if they close at 8. She was already cleaning up for the evening and it was pretty obvious that she just didn't want to take everything back out and deal with my mess. For my experience with a self service dog wash and a potential long time customer, I was severely disappointed. Someone's lack of customer service cost the business a client. I'd recommend calling before you come in. read more

Today I stopped by Dog Day afternoon to make an appointment for a self dog wash. They were able to fit me in later that afternoon. I had never used a dog wash station so they walked me through it with helpful suggestions at their easy to use equipment. My dog is a nervous 8 pound chihuahua. I brought my own shampoo because I wanted to treat for fleas, and they helpfully transferred a portion of it to a squeeze bottle diluted with water to make her soap up easier. The owner and staff were very friendly. I will definitely go there again. read more

We have taken our dogs here for grooming for a few years now and were happy up until about a year ago. I don't know what changed - but all of a sudden, they were cancelling and rescheduling appointments constantly. One appointment, they called 5 different times to reschedule - FIVE TIMES - I rescheduled over and over. But, we kept going because we felt like they did a good job. Even though, I was never comfortable with all the dogs being loose in there - it's total chaos. The final straw was the day we took our dog in at 10 am for grooming. It was a Saturday and we had dinner plans at 5:30. By 4 pm, we hadn't heard anything so we called and our dog hadn't even been groomed!! 6 HOURS! We said to forget it and we would come get him. My husband got there and they said, "We washed him so it's $55." You kept our dog for over 6 hours, gave him a bath and nothing else and you charge us $55?! We were incredulous! We waited a few days for them to call and ask us to come back to finish the job - and apologize. They did not. Finally, we called them and scheduled our dog to come back and be groomed. It was 2 weeks before they could get him in again - they were miffed that they had to rewash him before he could be groomed. They hinted we should pay again - we refused. That was the last straw. We are moving on. I've always been annoyed at the pricing. For our 16 pound dog, it's $55. For our 4 pound dog, it's $55. Once we had our older dog taken there to have her nails cut and get a bath - (no grooming - 25 pound dog) and it was...you guessed it...$55. It's very bizarre. I think there are better choices out there. read more

Never have been a person to bring my dog to a groomer, whole new ball game when you have a doodle mix, and being 7 months pregnant.. I was hesitant on bringing my puppies to a place I would leave them with someone I have never met and what kind of environment will my pups be around, will they be scared, how were they going to be treated.. Well as soon as I walked in I was able to feel at ease- I was greeted with not only one of the gals there but also a few other friendly paw friends.. didn't have a specific cut in mind just specifics as far as cleaning up her paws, and how I wanted her face... turned out better tHan expected, went in to pick up my puppies and they were sad to leave... love showing off their new doos when we leave.. Been in twice and no complaints- also have considered dropping them off just to play (puppy daycare) to burn some energy as they are exhausted when we come home from hanging out with friends while their there read more

I will not be taking my dogs back due to the lack of business ethics. I was quoted a price for a bath and brush, made an apt, even took down the person's name and when I came to pick them up it was DOUBLE the price. I spoke with the owner who said sorry because the person didn't write the estimate in the notes there was nothing she was willing to do, as though it was my responsibility to make sure they did their job correctly. How is that ok? Even providing the name of her employee who quoted me the price was not good enough she said. As a business owner you should honor what your employee states, that is proper business ethics and customer service, and I can not support a business that doesn't show those morals. read more

I have two giant dogs and had just rescued one of them the other one was in need of a groom. So I went in and was able to get an appointment in a few hours for both of them to get groomed, and could not be more unhappy. We got home and both of my dogs ears were not cleaned Nats were not taken out still a ton of excess hair and basically looks like they did nothing except bathe them. Within that we paid $200 for both of them to get done and feel like it was a waste of money. Would recommend another pet grooming salon at least from my experience will not be back.... photos attached are once I took them to our regular groomer 1 week after getting them done here, as they truly needed to be done right... look at all that excess hair!!!! Man, I wish I had never come to dog day afternoon, as it was a complete waste of money- $200!! they completely ripped us off for the work that was done, or lack there of. Very unhappy! Let me first say that as a person who grew up in the area, I was definitely one to seek the best of the best for my dogs. I have a Bishon, and a Doberman Lab mix. I went into Dog Day afternoon after booking the appointment with a very friendly person, and told them what I wanted as a first time client. I didn't need to explain a bath to the big dog, and as for the little one, pretty simple. I asked for her face to be shaved as a poodle so that her beard wasn't such a mess and it looked better. They asked me how.. uh.. so I explained it. Now let me just say that my dog has been going to the groomers for 6 years... 6. I have lived in Ea Wa, Issaquah, Seattle, and Lake Stevens NEVER ONCE was I EVER told that my little dog bit at the clippers and she goes in every 5 weeks for $55-65 a groom. So when I picked up the dogs the woman at the desk checked me out as the other GROOMER told me that the little dog was SO good. I told her it was because she has had it done since 6 months old.. and I thanked her, tipped them and went home. As I sat and held my little dog I discovered that she didn't get a cut at all on her face ... $55 dollars later and you couldn't do one thing I asked for?! So, my husband called to see if they would kindly just save her face and that it may have gotten looked over.... the woman on the phone asked the "owner" about my dog, and she said they didn't because she bit at the clippers.. NO. I will tell you I have watched her without her seeing me getting shaved .. if she bit at your trimmers, which I know she didn't then she would have the entire time of the haircut and I am POSITIVE you or your groomers would have told me asap. Not convincing after the groomer who I met, told me she was GREAT and let her trim her. These people didn't offer to fix it, or explain, they simple said let me see... asked who the f ever, and and then said she bit so they couldn't.. not true. Not even a tiny bit. So needless to say... I will NEVER be back. Nor will I EVER recommend this place. I work customer service. If there is a problem face to face, don't lie and tell me she was great. Which do you know, she is. And I have many groomers that love her. Guess I'll be on the hunt again and driving to Seattle is WAY better than EVER returning to this "groomer" !! PS.. Okay so I have to preface this by saying my dogs were well groomed, the staff was polite and the place was clean. My major problem with this place is that when I called to make an appointment I told the lady on the phone that my dogs were similar in size and coat to a Shiba Inu. She said they would be about $35 dollars each. When I came to pick my dogs up after grooming the groomer said I owed them $110! I told her I was quoted around $70 and she said that dogs with coats like their's are $55 each. I would not have taken my dog here if I had known this price earlier. I have a groomer in Lake Stevens who uses organic products that I much prefer, but I went with these groomers because I thought they were cheaper. Needless to say we will not be going back. Be sure to ask them when you take your dogs in for a quote on site! They might pull this on you too! read more

We have 2 yorkshire terriers and 1 of them gets horrible tangles in his hair and is usually terrified of the groomers. These groomers are so gentle with him that he forgets how much he hates it. Every other groomers we have gone to can never get his haircut right because he fights them so much, but here, he does so great and isnt afraid. They run about 5 or so more dollars than the average groomer, but I think that is so worth it for how our dogs are treated there. I like that they aren't caged up and get to play with the other dogs (they only let well tempermented dogs play together) while they wait to get groomed. They always seem so happy when we come and get them, not worn out from being terrified all day like other groomers. read more

Really bad at cutting dog nails. Some nails long some nails short. Not filed either. Self wash is easy, but the towels smelled like piss.

Perfect for those who need to self groom. Excellent facility with easy tub access for larger dogs. I've been there twice with my akita who I prefer to bathe myself given she's not great around little dogs. They are attentive and given the quality of the baths, it's a fair price. They only have two wash stations for self grooming, that's the only draw back. I've been lucky in that both times I've shown up, they have been free. read more
