We have been going to Ashley at Snohomish Dog Spaw for about 5 years. We have an older dog with a lot of anxiety and fear. Ashley is so calming with her and really takes her time to make Sadie feel comfortable. I know she loves her spa day because she is so excited when I come to pick her up she prances around the parking lot! Amanda has been fantastic. We came here because of her. She's particularly patient and aware of our doggie's anxiety due to abuse and being from a puppy farm before we adopted her. Our dog rylee, has some sensitive to touch areas where she has scarring from her trauma, and rylee always does great w Amanda and is happy when she comes home. Dog Spaw is a cute little shop near downtown snonomish. It's always clean. I love that it's not super loud and stressful with all the dogs like other pet salons are. It's clean and open to guests so you can see the happenings. They have cute little baked goods for purchase at the entrance and also other treats, toys and neckerchiefs. The staff was friendly and I felt my puppy was in good hands. I was disappointed that the puppy cut she received was very minimal and overpriced. I would have appreciated a puppy cut rate since a full trim wasn't accomplished. $80 + tip for a very minimal trim is not within my budget. read more

I posted an earlier glowing review which I need to amend. I called to make another appointment and was told by Amanda that my dog was no longer welcome. It was Tillie's first experience with a groomer and I guess she was too shy and inexperienced, in no way aggressive. She took too long to groom. Do not try this groomer unless your dog is an experienced candidate!! read more

(Edit - Wow, read all the 1 & 2 star reviews for this biz! Def supports my experience & this review!) Really bummed out w Snoho Dog Spaw. Was excited to support this local business. Walked in to contract services and make an appt for my dog. Nice store front, items for sale area, big grooming area, etc. Looked promising. Two dogs were up on stands, hooked up and being groomed. Dogs looked happy. Lots of grooming going on, it seemed. Then... cue the Darth Vader entrance theme... da da da, dun da da, dun da da... I was met by an "employee" (*generic description to meet Yelp guidelines). I was all smiles, excited, and ready to make my appt. The "employee" apparently was not ready to make my appt., nor were there any smiles or fun on the employee's face. The "employee" had a dog on a stand that employee was working on. Ok fine, I can see they were doing their job. Busy means money in. I asked for an appt. Employee checked for a second, seemed annoyed, then indignantly announced, "We'd rather people call us for appts and not stop in, unless they have an appt - it's for the "dog's safety." Oh, the drama... (*btw, they never answer their phone! Voicemail over and over...) Don't stop in?? Open to the public or not? Hmm. This didn't make any sense since they have a store front, and an items for sale area. Is this a private members only spa or something? The Open sign was on and the doors were unlocked. So, don't come into the store unless you are dropping off your dog? I just wanted an appt. Ugh... sigh. Nonsensical logic. "Employee" didn't want to deal with me, and the vibe was instantly negative. Ponderous and unprofessional behavior by this "employee." This was alarmingly awkward, so I turned around and exited w a less than warm and fuzzy feeling. I really wanted to bring my dog here and patronize this business. Too bad an imprudent and indecorous person (*generic description to meet Yelp guidelines) is dealing directly w customers in this situation. "Front of house employees" are always the face of any business and set the tone for the company w the general public. Put the fresh, positive attitude, smiling people up front that provide customers, old and new, w a positive experience that will convert to repeat busine$$. Incompetence and ineptitude in customer communication translates to less business. Just my take. Won't go back here on general principle and the less than favorable etiquette. Oh well... I have a maltese pup and I love the way they treat him and style him here! I have never had any issues in the past 2 1/2 years. Hilary is awesome and my dog loves her even though he doesn't like haircuts. Definitely recommend this place!! It's a bit pricey but it's definitely worth the money. Vet-level Knowledge meets a passion you can't fake. It's the kind of thing you just want to reward with more business. Yes they are booked solid and it is hard to get your foot in the door but that's what you expect when they're that good. I've seen them dote over their dogs and talk about them with affection like they're people. It was our puppy's first grooming and they had a solid plan around that and have done it before. The Snohomish Dog Spaw has lost my business. I have taken my older dog to this grooming establishment for many years and once he started getting older and having some accidents they began charging me an extra fee. I then brought in a new puppy and even after making sure to take him out and pull his food the night before he had an accident. I again paid the extra price, but when came in again was scolded by the groomer telling me that any accidents was unacceptable. My puppy is 8 months old. I think they need to advertise that they will only take dogs that don't have an accident. Will not go back!! Find another groomer in the Lake Stevens or Snohomish area. It is not worth the hassle. read more
