Such an unfortunate experience. This business stressed me terribly when they last minute cancelled my reservation right when I arrived at their location (Saturday)! Never had I ever had a cancellation on the very day of by a dog day care in my 5yrs of experience going to a snow/ski resort! They said they couldn't accommodate my dog despite that I completed emailing them my dog's vaccinations prior to arrival because my dog is missing Influenza vaccine. They said they have private rooms per dog but they walk them together. I asked if they can please walk my dog without the other dogs or if they can give her the vaccination and I would gladly pay for it. The tech said that the Vet was not in town and she will get fired if she will let my dog in. I said may i talk to your vet? She said the vet wont answer. My smart border collie is very healthy and is not sick! I give my dog a bath every week and feed her dry food and whole food wet food with nutritional vitamins! This was very disappointing and would def NOT recommend to friends and family!! read more

It's never easy leaving your beloved Four-Legged Child (FLC) at home while you're off on vacation. The last few times I've had to kennel my dog, I've taken him here. Caye (rhymes with Pie) LOVES coming here. He is not stuck in a little square painful metal cage. He gets his own run and has plenty of play time outside to burn off some of that psychotic Jack Russell / chihuahua energy inside him. I can leave him with as many of his favorite "comfort" items as I want - his own bed, stuffed chimpanzee, big old bones to gnaw on, etc. The staff seem to try to get to know him as much as possible, and yes, occasionally I call in to check on how he's doing. They always give me an update and tell what he's been up to. Nowadays, I think you can check online to get a daily photo of your FLC. Prices have gone up over the years, but I don't mind paying it (approx $20-$25 / per day depending on big your FLC is) because they really seem to take great care of their charges. I believe it's run by the husband of my veterinarian in Kings Beach, so that's handy, knowing that if there is a medical emergency, they know what to do. And they're strict - last time I was here, a guy walked in with a puppy he had just adopted. You have to show proof your animal is fully up to date with his shots. He forgot to bring the paperwork, but they worked with him to call the adoption place to get the paperwork faxed over. Another time they accidentally forgot to give me his leash. One of their staff members met up with me in Incline Village to make sure I had it in time to take Caye for a walk. read more

I'm updating my review to include the Thank You card we received in the mail after posting this review. I have to say, one year later, our dog has never been the same after boarding here. We regret it to this day. She had a serious injury in her ear that became infected and went untreated for days without us knowing. We were informed it was only a scratch while she was boarded. She hasn't trusted new people since. We never ever wanted money or a refund or compensation from this place, but disappointed in how they spoke to us, handled it and handled it once we posted here too. I'm giggling right now writing this review, and I don't generally giggle, but this is a funny funny story! So we have a bastard of a Persian/Himalayan cat who despises everything in the world except for my mother. One time my girlfriend went to pet him, and she ended up getting a 5 inch gash across her hand and lower arm! So anyways, he has some really long hair and we had been talking about giving him a lion cut for about a year now because giving a mean SOB cat a lion cut is probably the funniest thing imaginable! My sister and I even tried it last summer ourselves, but we gave up after about 5 minutes and still have nightmares to this day about the experience! Lion cutting him really has been a dream of ours for a while, and finally my Mom decided it would be good for him to have shorter hair this summer. So she looked around for a brave groomer, and Dog Gone Crazy said they never had a cat they couldn't groom. So awesome, right? Nope. Hilarious? ABSOLUTELY! I wasn't there to witness it, but I can imagine how it went. According to my Mom, they had to give up after they had cut about 1/3 of his fur because he was the most terrifying creature they had ever dealt with. They said the only way they could complete the cut was if he was tranquilized. He was due for his shots at the vet this week anyways, so my mom asked if they would prescribe some tranquilizer for him and they obliged. So she got in touch with Dog Gone Crazy and they said to bring him in immediately after he got tranquilized and they would finish the job right away. So to this point, Dog Gone Crazy could have earned 5 points in my book, but now they really blew it. Big time. (And made the whole thing even more hilarious) So my Mom dropped him off at Dog Gone Crazy this morning and they said they would get right to him while he was out. How could you screw that up, right? Well they figured out how by waiting until 4:30 THIS AFTERNOON to finish cutting his hair, and by that point he was wide awake and more pissed off than ever! They managed to cut another 1/3 of his hair, but gave up again. They had my Mom pick him up and didn't charge her, but she came home with a hilariously mangy looking, lion-cut, ferocious cat! So obviously I don't blame Dog Gone Crazy completely because our cat is the devil incarnate and they never could have expected to encounter such a heinous beast! But, the fact that they completely blew it by not finishing the job when he was tranquilized (which cost us money by the way) is not cool at all. Left my dog here for day care while skiing and he came back happy and exhausted. Very nice women working there that took him back every time we came. My dog is very hard to tire out. VERY. Challenge MET. GOOD JOB, DGC. All for $34. Only thing that would've made it better would have been to see him on their social media feed, which I found and checked while on ski lift. . But I forgot to ask, maybe you need to ask, give permission, something - next time I will. Highly recommend. read more

I hate leaving my pets...well, actually sometimes I could live without having a cat try to sleep on my head or dogs running around with squeaky toys. When the occasion comes that I need a place to leave my dogs and cat, this is it. it is the only place that they don't freak out when we get to the front door, and the only place they emerge calm, happy, and well-fed. I pay extra for the dogs to go on a hike--they're typical outdoorsy Tahoe dogs, so sitting in a cage all day is not an option. Also, a vet is nearby in case they get hurt or sick (I had a dog go into a coma and die at a kennel in Los Altos, so it puts me at ease). A huge bonus is that I could see pictures of my dogs playing on doggone crazy's internet site while I was on vacation! Funny. They also have good grooming services. This place is pretty expensive, but I kind of spoil my pets and I like to know they are happy. My rescue lab gets separation anxiety, but he doesn't seem to mind this place at all. I have had some really bad experiences with putting pets in other kennels (diarrhea for days afterward, loss of appetite, and even the aforementioned dog death), so it is worth it to me to put my pets in a safe and high-quality place so I can enjoy my vacation worry-free! read more

My 10 month old pup travels everywhere with us, and we were excited about his first snow trip. I was envisioning long hikes in hushed snow fields, making snow angels and having fun. My pup however, was decidedly FREAKED about the idea of walking/touching/or otherwise having anything to do with snow and instead was envisioning never emerging from his crate until the snow went away. Unhappy, miserable and generally a sad dog. So instead of making his (and my) trip a total stress, I found Dog Gone Crazy. He learned how to play in the snow; met other fun dogs and seemed to have the best time of his life. The staff took great care of him, followed my instructions to the letter and had great daily updates for me. At the end of our stay in Tahoe, i picked up a happy, tired pup who was obviously very well cared for. We will be back, often. Thanks so much!! read more

Had a great experience with the ladies that run Dog Gone Crazy and our overall experience was fabulous. We left our 14 y/o beagle, who has the energy of a 4 y/o, and they took great care of him. Staff was very rushed, not interested in my dogs. I paid for a hike and neither dog was dirty at all, which I found odd due to the yard being all dirt. Staff did not inform me how they did or if there were any issues. My dogs beds were soaked in urine and after two days one of my dogs still has not eaten. read more

Loved the staff members. All very friendly and obviously love dogs. My one year old Chinese crested had a great time there while I went to my girl friend's wedding. Horrible experience. Made a last minute overnight trip to North Lake, dog gone crazy was recommended by hotel services for daycare while we ski'd as we could not leave dogs in hotel room. Drop my two boxes off for day care, during drop off I was rushed by clerk to leave the dogs, felt very pushy in the manner he talked to me. Kept grabbing at my file folder which had my dogs information, records ect.. in it as if he want to take it from me before even telling me what he needed for records. I drop off the dogs and he didn't seem to be a dog person at all the way he handled them walking them back into the room. When I arrived to pick up my pets I could here one of my dogs barking repeatedly over and over again as I was standing in the lobby waiting for someone to come up. My dog never barks, he has never barked while crated or kenneled ever. I asked why he was barking and the lady ignored my question and said she would go get my dogs. When she returned she only had one of them, I asked where the other as and she said she had to go get here from the other room. I specifically requested they be roomed together and come to find out they separated them. Neither dogs had any mud on or in there paws telling me they hadn't been let outside at all during the day. Both of my dogs seemed distressed and uncomfortable, neither would eat for a day after and were very high strung and attached to me for hours after leaving. I do not know what happened at dog gone wild in the few hours they were there but based on how my dogs acted when I picked them up I will never be going back. Dislike the rushed, pushy services and strongly feel they do not care for the animals at all. read more

Chose this place to board my dog for a long weekend due to their commercials advertising walks in the national forest. When I picked up my lab, they claimed to have lost that part of my reservation (despite it being written). Worse, they handed me my dog bed back soaked in dog urine blaming my poor house broken pet (who is regularly home while I work 8 to 10 hours, without incident). Then they claimed to be short staffed due to the vet's hospital they also run. When I said that they should've phoned me, that I don't treat my dog this way, they had a manager phone me after I left only to hang up on me (?#!). Don't leave your beloved pet here! Brought my dog here for a one night stay and I never got to see the outside. I felt uncomfortable leaving him in a crate, as I was promised on the phone he would be out most if not all of the day. All in all, he came back happy and unharmed, so I was happy with the service, just wish they had been a bit more open about a tour and that I hadn't left him in a crate. read more

I have owned animals and delt with a lot of vets in my day and this has got to be the WORST vet I have ever encountered. Terrible place.....the owner is all about making money off your pets. We left them there for a long weekend and our bill was almost triple what it should have been. One of our dogs had diarrhea and she treated both dogs (we know the other dog did not have it because we had the dogs with us during the day hours) and performed an unauthorized procedure on the one of the dogs we never agreed to and later said we did. Would not contact us after several calls-we had to deal with the "office manager" who had no authority to make any decisions. When I finally did get the vet on the phone, she LIED about what we were told and said. Was almost yelling on the phone with me to back down about the astronomical charges (I'm sorry but Amox, flagyl and famatodine DO NOT COST $90 for 5 days worth, for one dog (then X 2) -they are generic and that price is outrageous) DO NOT TAKE your dog there. Oh yeah, and the food we left for both dogs was barely touched when they were returned to us-makes me wonder if they were even fed. I am writing to the Better Business Bureau this scam of a business. Just came back from a week vacation in Tahoe and couldn't bear to leave my baby at home so we decided to bring him here so we could see him every day. Upon first impression the girl working there didn't seem too excited about my dog (in her defense he takes a while to warm up to strangers and can be an aloof a-hole - but I love him). Anyway the second day I came to walk him he was sooooo excited to see me I felt bad leaving him there. But after the next day his excitement waned a bit when I came and he seemed comfortable there. By the end of the week I could tell he was doing just fine and his caregivers gave him lots of love. I'm sorry I don't remember her name but she is really cool and even called her boyfriend to get directions to a dog-friendly beach which NOTE - practically non-existent. Overall a fair price for 24 hour care and I even got a first time customer discount. Very cool. Talked to the owner Bill on the phone when I got him all set up, nice guy, put me at ease. I will definitely bring LG back next year. Not sure what more I could have asked for. read more

Do not leave your pet here. We left our German Shepherd here for a long weekend trip out of town. Not only did I not see any pictures or video of her on their website, but upon our return found out that she did not get fed 3 meals, and had large scar on her nose. They refused to give me any explanation (or refund), they did not make any effort to contact me or the emergency contact listed. They are only interested in money not the welfare of your pet. The day after our return, I went back to Dog Gone Crazy to try to speak to the owner with my dog in the car, not only did she refuse to get out of the car, she growled when we pulled into the parking lot. Makes me wonder what happened to her that I still don't know about. The vet bill and medication to repair the scar on her nose was over $100! If you care about your pet don't leave them at Dog Gone Crazy! read more
