Beware. Tammy gave Laika a "small nick" and "glued it up". The laceration was a lot worse than that. It's over a week later and I'm still changing bloody bandages and monitoring Laika to keep her from chewing on it. Tammy bought some "liquid bandage" from CVS but it hasn't worked -- the wound is just too open. In retrospect, I should have made Tammy take Laika to the vet; they probably would have wanted to stitch it up. Photos are of the same-day and over a week later. read more

This was Coco's first time visiting a groomer for a quick pedicure before he hits the beaches in Los Angeles and we couldn't have had a better experience! Tammy was amazing with him! He was calm and it was over quickly and then she even offered to clip a few hairs around his eyes to groom his face a little bit! He looks fabulous, as always! But now just a little more chic. Just what he needed for his first big trip on an airplane with Mom! It was only $15. Way better than the $30 vet fee for the same service. But it's cash only! I didn't know that so Tammy just said she'd cover this one for us. So nice of her! We'll be back again soon! read more

Wow...when I saw this review, I myself was compelled to respond in kind. I have NEVER been treated in other way than with kindness and respect. Ive been taking my 'babies' to Tammy for YEARS now. I do know that she IS the OWNER and if you are her last client, she does have a life out side of her shop. She is a GROOMER...NOT a pet sitter, a doggie daycare or a kennel! With respect to that, sitting around waiting on a irresponsible pet owner to pick up their baby? Yeah, she's NOT being paid for that. Unless it took two hours to groom your pet (if it did, then you obviously don't need to be a pet owner) then your being late warranted a stern phone call. I know I wouldn't want to stay waiting 45 mins for someone to FINALLY come pick up their pet after I'm closed for the rest of the day. I found this review by k.a. to be a whiny lil rant. I recently had my long hair cat Sylvester get all matted up :( I took him into doggie Styles to fix the problem. the lady there was amazing to work with. she took my little guy in and washed him up. She then gave him the best hair cut ever. I have never groomed this cat and didn't know what to expect, but he came out looking very handsome! I could tell that he felt so much better. Doggie Style says it all. We have been taking our pets there since they opened. The only complaint I have is they don't want to leave. Last year we had a family emergency and couldn't pick our critters up, I call and explained our predicament. Doggie Style worked with us and kept our critters for the night. They even sent us pictures & vides to let us know our loved one's were in good hands. I understand the complexity of running a business and communication elevates most miss understanding. I have an 11 month old Aussie/poodle mix puppy. He's a bit "special" in that he has crazy separation anxiety, very high energy, a bit skittish, and has minor pica issues (if it can fit in his mouth, he'll eat it). His first time at a groomer (NOT Doggy Styles) was traumatic and he limped away with a rather serious injury. Which made me terrified to ever try another groomer again. But by 9 months, he was such a shaggy mess I couldn't put it off any longer. That's when I found Tammy. I was probably more anxious than my pup, but she put my mind at ease. She's clearly really good at what she does, and has a no-nonsense and straight-forward approach that I really value. I waited until after our second grooming with Tammy to write a review. Both times my dog was in-and-out in an hour (amazing!) and was cut so nicely. And he was happy when I came back! He clearly adores her. I still don't know how she wrangles my crazy wiggleworm through a bath, cut and blow dry when I can't even trim the occasional mat, but I so appreciate it. As a side note, I saw the previous review with the woman who left her dog at Doggy Styles late. I can see how it would happen if you're used to a normal groomer who takes multiple dogs at once and can take hours, crating dogs between services. But Tammy is different. She takes one dog at a time and each appointment is one hour. When her day is done, it's done. It is wholly unfair to expect her to hang out and wait for a puppy owner to return. I for one REALLY appreciate that she only takes one dog at a time, and I also really appreciate how little time it takes. To me, she's the ideal groomer and I'm so glad I found her. read more

Bringing my german shepherd to Tammie at Doggie Styles was 150% worth the drive from Truckee to Tahoe City. Had been taking my dog to a groomer in Truckee for a couple years but the last two grooms left me feeling semi disappointed and unimpressed. But it was convenient and still better than what I could do at home. When said groomer was booked for 2 weeks out and I was in desperate need for a last minute groom I was finally forced to look elsewhere. A blessing in disguise really, because that's when I took a chance with Tammy. My dog has NEVER looked better. I'll repeat, NEVER looked better. Her thick winter undercoat was gone and weeks after the appointment she still looks and feels like a million bucks. Tammy does one dog at a time, and they are in and out in an hour, sharp. Tammy was able to fit my dog in last minute and was great at communicating via text etc. I'd choose Tammy's quality over convenience any day. read more

I've been taking my older dog to Doggie Styles since the first day I brought him home from the shelter, 5 years ago. He was the most skiddish and scared dog I'd ever had. He was 8 years old and had been neglected and abused for the majority of his life. Tammy is so kind, warm and gentle that he calmed down and loved her within 5 minutes of meeting her. She got him all cleaned up & looking great, did the nails & ears too. He has a few old man growths and she is always very careful not to irritate them. Every time I say, "Wanna go see Tammy?", Jed, jumps up and starts running around in a circle on his way to the front door. It's very cute. After his appointments, he comes out bright white & smelling fresh and prances around like he's proud of the way he looks. The shop is clean and sunny and is set up so the dogs are comfortable while there. I've never had to wait more than a few days after calling for an appointment and Tammy is never running behind. It's really nice to find someone that values your time and keeps to a schedule. Prices are very reasonable and for the great service, it's worth every penny. Our dog looks beautiful after visiting Tammy!!! She is a large, hairy and and a bit shy, but tammy made us feel very welcome immediately. We brought her in for a full grooming and shave,and we embarriesingly showed up 30 minutes late for our appointment, but still she was so cool about it and very accommodating and still took all the time needed to do a great job. We really appreciate it and will always bring our dog back for grooming. This might be one of the best dog haircuts we have ever seen! Our dog also has a small growth on her back leg that tammy made sure to take gentle care of. She was recommended by a few of our friends who swear by her, and they where right! I have always been a good and friendly customer of Tammy, owner of Doggie Styles. Unfortunately I saw another side that really turned me off as a customer. When she gets frustrated by having too many pets in her shop which should not be allowed, she takes her frustration out on your animal. She really does not know how to scissor cut dogs. Some animals require this attention and if your does I suggest you find another dog groomer. She also forgets and does not listen to what the customer asks of her. She is all about getting the animal in and out quickly so she can go onto the next one. I would much rather pay more and have the job take longer and done correctly. This is the perfect groomer! I love the fact that I have to drop off and pick up my dog on time, knowing she was only there for an hour or so was great. I took my two 13-year old pups to Tammy yesterday, one for a shampoo and the other for a full grooming. The male hates his feet even touched, much less shampooed and clipped, and I cautioned being Tammy about that he might get a little nippy. I returned just two hours later to find that the male, Scuppie, got an A on his report card. Tammy said he was just a perfectly behaved guy. This woman really has a way with dogs! I have a 6 year old Siberian Husky mix and I guarantee you she is no walk in the park to groom!! I have been going to Tammy since 2007 and she has provided me with the utmost in efficiency, quality and compassion when it comes to my canine!! I'm a long time local in Tahoe City and I do not want to drive far to get to a groomer. I took my 2 indoor cats to Doggie Styles. She did a great job on clipping them as well as trimming their nails. As far as the 1st review, pay it no mind. Anyone who leaves their pets at a groomer, hello they are there to be groomed not pet sat, does not carry much weight as far as a groomer review goes. The place is clean, the equipment in great shape, the other animals there are happy, the groomer is calm and good with cats and dogs, and the groomer listens to the animals behavior not just forcing the animal to do whatever. The point of my statement is the groomer does what is best for the animal, which we should all do as guardians of our pets and not be selfish as to what is more conveinant for us. I brought my fur baby to Doggie Styles for his spring puppy cut because I had won a gift certificate that Tammy had generously donated to my son's school auction. I was surprised when she said she would be done in an hour with my dirty, shedding dog (he's a border collie-lab mix, so lots of thick fur). I have always taken him to other places where I had to leave him for the day, so I thought that's how long it takes to clean my guy. I came back for him and his coat was clean and puppy trimmed, he was happy and not at all stressed out. I'm sad to learn that all those times I left him for hours he was probably sitting in a kennel, but very happy to have found someone who cares about the dog. I don't know anything about grooming and was not sure how to describe what I wanted done. Tammy read my mind and gave him the cutest puppy cut he's ever had. He looks so young, even though he's 12 years old. I will definitely return again in the fall. As for the one negative review, that person isn't a real local; part timer. People who live here know Tammy books by appointment only and that she is great. Not sure why Yelp has removed all the positive reviews others have left, except maybe because she refused to pay their extortion fee. read more

Tammy has been great with our 100+ lb golden doodle, he is a lot of dog to groom and he always looks great and is clean when we pick him up. She also cleans his ears really well, they can get infected easily. She gets the job done in a timely manner so that I can drop "Blizzard" off, run my errands then pick him up. I have been taking my dogs to Tammy for grooming since 2004. I have 3 German Shepherds, 2 of them long coats, which are difficult to groom, and Tammy does an outstanding job at a reasonable price. She has alerted me to a yeast infection in my dog's ear and other skin problems on more than one occasion, which has helped my dogs and saved me on veterinary bills. I have taken my dogs to Doggie Styles for years, it has never taken more than an hour to groom my large Golden Retrievers. The owner has always done a great job. I live out of the area but when I come to the mountains my dogs get especially dirty from swimming and hiking in the mountains. The prices are fair, my dogs are happy and well groomed. For a couple of years Tammy groomed our cocker spaniel My husband even left a five star review in 2013. The last couple of groomings will now make us ex customers who are very dissatisfied. Over a year ago, Tammy claimed she was so matted that she needed a "puppy cut" a nice euphemism for shaved. she looked horrible and it took six months for her to have "cocker spaniel" feathers again! As she grew out We brushed out mats first with a brush and then with a mat comb. We waited a month for an appointment last week. On Monday, I thoroughly brushed her, cut out a couple of mats and ran the mat comb through every inch of her. When my husband took her in on Thursday there was no mention that she was matted. Supposedly Tammy tried to call him (no missed call on his iPhone) but when he returned to pick her up she was again shaved. Sadly, it is not even at all. Her paws and legs look chopped and uneven. I cannot believe that the reputable groomer we so appreciated has become this bad. Two bad experiences are ENOUGH! Yes, a groomer should cut or brush out some mats. It may take time, but my dog is patient and pleasant. I feel that Tammie may just not want to take the time. read more
