Recently, my little boy had to have surgery after deciding hair ties were an acceptable snack choice . To say I was nervous would be an understatement. I was definitely that client -- asking all the questions, thinking of every worst-case scenario, and quietly panicking about losing my baby. Dr. Fisk was beyond amazing. He met every single one of my anxious questions with patience, kindness, and the calm reassurance I so desperately needed. He never made me feel silly for worrying -- just supported. When I came to pick my boy up, I was greeted by the sweetest front desk staff who immediately reassured me that he did great and was in the back resting. They told me he was such a good, loving boy -- and as a pet mom, that melted my heart. Dr. Fisk explained everything thoroughly -- how the surgery went, recovery steps, what to watch for -- and again answered every question with such gentleness. Anytime I've called with questions (because, yes, I'm still that mom), the staff was responsive and so kind. I truly can't recommend Skyline Pet Hospital enough. All of my babies go there, and I leave them knowing they are loved and in the very best hands. Forever grateful. read more

In short, my fur baby contracted a respiratory infection from this terrible place. DO NOT GO HERE. My full horrible experience below: Jacob Fisk is a terrible vet. My cat is even sicker after going here. I'm convinced my cat contracted an upper respiratory infection from my original visit to Skyline cuz he was perfectly healthy when I brought him in the first time and only started showing symptoms shortly after the visit and my other cat is completely fine. The establishment is not clean and the vet Jacob Fisk smelled very foul with a stench that filled the whole room. I can only assume he doesn't know how to properly sanitize in between patients.) He will not do anything to help your sick animal. Just takes your money. Prescribes medicine that will have side effects, according to all veterinarian medicine websites (VCA for example) but will be adamant there are no side effects. When I called and told him the medicine he prescribed is causing severe diarrhea in my cat, there was zero concern and was completely dismissed. No follow up questions. If the medicine didn't cause diarrhea (as he falsely claimed), why would you not be concerned then that he's suddenly having diarrhea?! Either way it should have been concerning but this vet and the front office staff are completely apathetic. Furthermore, he is extremely condescending when answering valid questions and concerns. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Had the same exact issues as other 1 star reviews. DO NOT GO HERE. I will be contacting the Veterinarian Board and filing a complaint for Jacob Fisks unethical behavior. Take your pet literally anywhere else. Update- I had to take my cat to a different vet (Sierra Veterinary Hospital) and confirmed he has an upper respiratory infection (as I suspected) that worsened and gave him an ear infection as well. If Jacob Fisk had done his job instead of being a rude condescending know-it-all, my cat would not have his ear infection. On top of all this, I have numerous videos of my cat having wheezing and breathing issues. When I showed it to the kind vet at Sierra to ask if this may be asthma, she agreed that it likely is. When I showed these videos to Fisk, he completely dismissed them and said it's not asthma. To say I regret bringing my cat here is an understatement. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. My cat has still not healed from his infection and I fear due to their negligence, has escalated into pneumonia. DO NOT GO HERE. It will remain one of my biggest regrets in life. This place is a joke. My dog has been having seizures and all they did was charge me 1000 dollars to tell us to change his diet. We went to the pet store to get special food and they told us we need a prescription from the vet. Called the vet and they said we have to order online and get an approval from the vet. Would have been nice for the vet to tell us that while we were there. Don't go to this place, it's ghetto, they don't care about your pet, and only want your money. I have been a long time client. Many dogs and cats have been in their care. They have saved many, and we have put many down here. Normally outstanding. But today, a tues. I called twice to try and get my chow chow in. " I went in a few months back because my dog gets a very easy steroid shot that gets rid of her itching almost instantly" The site says they are open. After called twice, leaving a message and not hearing back. I just went in. I was the only person there. The doc had told me the shot comes in packs of two, so they would hold it and I could come in whenever free of charge and they would give it to her. The front desk gave me a very hard time. I told them I called twice. My dog was not feeling well and the shot is super easy. She tried to say I needed to pay the emergency visit cost if I wanted to be seen that day. So instead, she has to wait a full week to be seen. Felt like the front staff just were trying to get money. And I have given my fair share... read more

Wouldn't take my pups anywhere else. They already have anxiety, but the vet techs go above and beyond to ensure they have a positive experience every time. Doc is super knowledgeable and is gracious enough take the time to explain everything that you need. I'm still going to give zero stars. I was contacted by Becky who I believe is their owner or someone who's pretty high up with pet medic who bought this company out. She did what she could to mitigate the situation. The office staff here are not the greatest of help. They clearly need to have some more training on communication and compassion. Becky and I have spoken and she is going to discuss this interaction with her staff to insure that will never happen. So if your pet is in need of immediate help i honestly don't suggest this business. However if they're needing normal care you may end up with better results. They're no longer an emergency vet clinic though when looking up emergency vet services they pop up. With all of this being said if you do have issues Becky who again seems to be someone who's high up or the owner is probably going to be your best bet if something goes wrong. read more

The vets & staff here are amazing, they were so kind yet honest about the things that needed to be said. They made my 11 year old rot/lab mix feel so safe even during any exams that needed to be done. It was about an hour to do all exams, bloodwork, and get the needed medication. I took my 1 year old French Bulldog in for an exam for sneezing and coughing. They got us right in and the doctor was kind and so informative. We checked our phone records and we did indeed call them and talk to them on the phone. The doctor was in surgery so that's probably why they gave us the runaround. My dog Zoey, chipped some teeth while picking up a rock in the river. She was bleeding and one tooth completely came out of the socket, and one was chipped. I live in Reno, so took her to the closest place. We were not treated well and ended up leaving. I heard about Carson Tahoe Vet hospital through a friend, who gave them a glowing recommendation. We called and let them know what was going on. They got her in within a day. The consultation was smooth and easy. The front office, vet assistant, and Doctor were all incredibly compassionate, informative, and treated Zoey like their own. They got her in for teeth extractions very quickly. They called throughout the procedure to let us know updates, and let us know more teeth needed to come out, but also made sure this was okay with us and told us how much more it would cost, before moving forward. My dog has always hated the vet, but the times we have brought her in here, she's not anxious, happy, and willing to go with them. This whole team is incredible, kind, compassionate, trust worthy, and professional. I will never take my dog anywhere else. 10/10 recommend! read more

We found run away dog in Stateline area on Sunday evening without a collar. All local organizations were closed in Tahoe area, Carson Tahoe clinic was the only one open at that time - we drove over to check if dog was microchipped. From the second we walked in Molly was extremely helpful she did everything possible to help us find dogs owner. Rest of the team was also great, they also arranged for the dog to spend the night at their facility, stayed open past their closing time, made sure she was comfortable and contacted El Dorado Animal shelter to have dog picked up next day. Luckily owner was located next morning and were able to pick her up from the clinic. read more

While visiting from out of town, I had to take my dog in after she suddenly was unable to walk on her hind legs. Unfortunately, she had an enlarged heart, likely due to a tumor that caused a blood clot and she was not getting blood supply to her legs. She was in a lot of pain and management of her care would have been futile. Due to covid, I wasn't able to accompany her in for the exam and that was really difficult emotionally, but this is common practice everywhere. Dr.Collins was really great through the horrible situation. She explained what was happening clearly and talked through all the options. It was clear that there was no other humane choice than euthanasia. But she did review what aggressive treatment would look like. She was also flexible in offering me options to support either a trip home, allow me to take her for a few hours, or visit her in the clinic before she passed. She sat with me and my dog while she administered the euthanasia and explained everything in a calm and caring way so I wouldn't be surprised. They also let me bring in my cat to see her. While this was a terrible thing to experience, I can't say enough about how well they handled it. I had as much time as I needed to be with her. I've also noticed negative reviews on prices and have to say that the treatment was mostly what my regular vet would have charged, this was maybe 100-200 more for emergency care, but in general xrays run in the $300 range, as does blood work, and the exam fee was $130. While it adds up, you'd pay this anywhere. I believe my dog got the workup needed to make a very difficult decision and I'm glad they were able to make her comfortable in the end. read more

Very very thankful for these wonderful people!! My puppy was just diagnosed with parvo and our primary vet wasn't too much help, but referred me here if things were to get worse. I called them because the puppy seemed to get a little worse but I didn't know for sure. The gal who answered, and the doctor, both talked to me and answered any and all questions before I even said I would come in or not! It was so nice to have someone listen to what was going on and give me some guidance without telling me we must come in. We ended up going in, both ladies were just amazing, and helped get my sweet boy some fluids and sent us on our way with fluids we can do at home and food to help entice him to eat, all at a reasonable price considering it was 10pm and they're not our normal vet. I pray we don't need to ever come back, but I'm glad they're here if we do. read more

The hospital is not clean, the equipment is broken and/or obsolete, the "hospital is under staffed and the staff is unprofessional to say the least. No one was up front, no one seemed to be at the hospital. I waited about 5 to 10 mins until finally I started screaming for someone to come help me. A man (customer) came up front, he ask me if I was ok, I told him I needed help with my dog right away, that she was hurt bad and was bleeding in my car. He said his dog had just died or was dying, that he was sorry and then he walk to the back to get some help.    A few mins later, Robert Buffington Rishwain, DVM came up front and said someone would be right with me. A few mins after that a vet tech (I did not get his name) helped me move Diva out of the car and in to the one of the exam rooms. I waited there with Diva for about a while (at least 15 mins), the vet tech came once or twice (but not to help Diva). Finally, Dr. Rishwain came in, he did not examine Diva, he had a sheet of paper in his hand and asked me to sign, he said "we will need 1500.00 before we can do anything for your pet". I gave him a credit card and a few mins later the vet tech came back with another paper for me to sign. Shortly after that the same vet tech came to finally help Diva. The tech informed me that he needed to take her to the back and that I could not go with her. I waited there in that room for a while and then returned to the front. A while later Dr. Rishwain came out and said they were working on my pet. He seemed annoyed with me, he also had yet another paper for me to sign. My partner works in Sunnyvale Ca, (He is a medical doctor). I called him and inform him about incident while I was talking Dr. Rishwain and before they took her back. My partner hired a car to drive him to Carson (it's about a four hour drive). He called to check on Diva twice, 9:35, 1050pm, "he was told that they were working on her and that he should just come in", both times he asks them to call with updates, he did not receive any.   Feb 8 approximately 02:00am - I returned to Carson-Tahoe Veterinary Hospital with my partner. We waited about 15 mins to see Diva (we were told there were other patients that needed care before we could go back).    While being escorted back to the "ICU" I ask the technician Melissa Lynn Madore, LVT, (is Diva still in pain?), Melissa said "no she is on Fentanyl, I love me some Fentanyl!" my partner and I looked at each other and then at her with concern. She then said "oh, I should not say it like that, you know what I mean, it's a good pain medical for the patients".    The "ICU" (Basically a large cage on the floor in the rear of the hospital), I could not stay in the room because it was too difficult for me to see Diva in that condition. I decided to walk around the facility. I did not see any other patients other than a cat that I was later told had kidney issues (was not critical), so why did we have to wait to go back? read more

She said "no". I then called about 7 other vets in the area. ALL of them said we won't help you we are too busy. Call the hospital - I said what one? The Carson Tahoe Veterinary Hospital. They all directed me to this facility. The 24hr emergency facility. The facility who would not call a doctor for my dog. When your dog is in pain and you spend $1000 for tests - with nothing but they say it is arthritis.....but then no meds given. What do you do? After 3 days of waiting for approval of meds - they tell you, the system is down and they cannot approve the meds but your dog is in pain and limping. Really? Time to look for a reliable and understanding vet. BTW - the first call earlier was they had been too busy to approve the meds. Called ahead to notify them we were en route with our dog who had a severe nose bleed. No answer after multiple attempts to make contact. We arrived at 6:15 to be turned away by the less than compassionate receptionist who stated "'the Doctor was busy and we close at 7:00". We then drove to Reno to seek care. Seriously...they advertise they're emergency vets!! That is clearly a misnomer And maybe more compassionate, kinder and gentler staff to greet anxious patients and their parents. read more

We've taken three of our dogs here. They are money hungry. They will sedate your dog at any chance they get even if they already lethargic and very sick with no energy to move but since you can't go back with your dog you just have to "believe" their word that they needed sedated. We took our dog in last week and she was very lethargic. Would hardly stand and they still felt the need to sedate her. Almost 1000 dollars later and the vet tech had to talk to us Because the quack dr had a meeting. This place is nothing but money hungry racists. read more
