We were vacationing near TAHOE CITY and our dog became ill. We called about 5 vets and all were booked until the next and all required us to have paper work sent from our dogs vet before they would see us. We then called Kim she answered the phone asked us about the dogs symptoms and based on that said no paper work was required and could see us in 2 hours what a relief !! She saved our vacation and provided the medication that got our doggy going again. We also had further questions later that day and again she answered the phone and addressed all of our concerns. Dr. Barnes was able to see our dogs the same day I called and here at home. Our dogs don't enjoy a car ride like they used to so going to the vet is unpleasant for all involved. I'm not sure what Laketahoe G. is smoking but the review Laketahoe G. posted completely misrepresents my personal experience with Dr. Barnes. That review sounds malicious with an ulterior motive to me for some reason. I've seen first hand how available, fairly priced, and conscientious, Dr. Barnes has been with my girlfriend's dog and what I've seen deserves nothing but respect and admiration. It is my personal experience with Dr. Barnes life long care of Ronan, my girlfriend's dog, that compelled me to use Dr. Barnes as my puppy's primary veterinarian and I can't express how delighted I am with the availability and care Cooper receives under Kim's care. Kim has seen Ronan through much more than routine care over the years. Cooper has been with Dr. Barnes since he was 8 weeks old. He's now almost 7 months old and he actually gets excited when we pull into the parking lot of Dr. Barnes practice. He knows who "Dr. Kim" is and Ronan goes berserk when he visits Dr.Barnes. I wish I could give more stars to Kim and Heather! It's a great service they provide and such loving care they give my furkid! They came to my home with everything needed for an exam - they had researched our prior veterinary records in advance and were very familiar with my lil guy's issues. Kim and her assistant Heather were right on time and communicated clearly - so that there were no surprises. I knew what was expected from us and what they were planning to do. My dog had a very serious illness about three years ago that could have killed him. Thankfully, Dr. Barnes came to our rescue. She spent two nights personally caring for and, sleeping with my six year old dog. Once he was released to me, Dr. Barnes not only called to follow up on how he was doing, she also came to my house on a Sunday to give follow-up care. My pooch is always excited to see Kim. Our Bella had dental surgery today, of course we were a wreck all day but when we were able to pick Bella up, Dr.Barnes came to talk to us, went over everything she did, what we were to expect, and what to do next when we take Bella home! Dr. Barnes is well known throughout Incline as being a caring, solution-oriented, people and dog-loving caregiver. She has taken such amazing care of my fur baby (Jack) who lovingly responds with tail wags when we mention going to see Auntie Kim. She's so amazing that even after 9 years of going to see her, he still trots right into her exam room ... not at all afraid of her (well, until he sees the needle, then he's like every other dog: I'm outta here). And he's had PLENTY of vet visits since he has a blood disorder and serious separation anxiety (which causes all kinds of ailments and injuries). Even though little dogs live a long time, my poor fur baby would likely not still be around if it weren't for Dr. B - she's nursed Jack (and me) through some tough times with the blood disorder. Her fees have been more affordable than any vets we've had to see while she was out of town, and I value her time and expertise (we're talking 8 to 10 visits per year, so I'm pretty well-versed in her fees lol). Although her office is in the Pet Network Humane Society building, it's a bit of a disconnect to say she should charge less because of donations to the Humane Society - they are completely separate entities. I've never had a challenge getting in to see her over the 9 years. On Wednesdays she DONATES her time solely to treating the shelter (adoptable) animals, and she's open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday (closed on the weekends like most). Like other reviewers, it is not at all uncommon for me to get a call or text after an appointment, checking to see how Jack and I are doing :). We are super blessed to have her as our vet and friend! read more

Dr. Barnes has been taking care of all of my animals, plus many from the rescue group I work with, for years. She has been fantastic. She is thorough but not excessive and has gotten me in on an emergency basis more than once. Because we are so far away from other vets' offices (other than the one in Kings Beach, which I can't recommend to anyone), that is very, very much appreciated. Dr. Barnes is terrific! She cares for our animals and has supported us through difficult decisions. She spends whatever time is necessary to evaluate what is happening with our animal at each visit. I have never had a vet call, text or email to follow up on the condition of our dog before Dr. Barnes. If she cannot get us in immediately or feels we should see a specialist, she will recommend another vet in order to prioritize the health of our animal. I would not consider going to another doctor for my pups! read more
