She has gone as far as pick up toilet paper Foxy chewed up, filled up her water bowl, and just made the whole process of leaving Foxy at home so much easier. Katie and Dog Gone Walking are fan-freaking-tastic! When I got a new job a couple of years ago, my wife and had a dilemma: what do we do with our furry child during the day? She is a rescue and doesn't seem to have been socialized with other dogs during her formative years. She doesn't know how to play with other pups and prefers to be left alone, so doggie daycare would have just frazzled her nerves. Dog Gone Walkin' to the rescue! Katie put our minds at ease and suggested a small group hike based upon our little terrier's temperament. From the reports, it sounds like she is doing great and even making some friends! Obviously, I don't go on these hikes, so I cannot say for sure what my dog's experience is. As a terrier, she can be quite stubborn when she doesn't want to go somewhere (like the groomer or the vet), but it is clear that she looks forward to these daily adventures. I don't write many reviews -- only when I feel really strongly about a business. I have used Dog Gone Walkin' probably since soon after its creation. Over the years, I and my babies have gone through Nathan, Ryan, Drew, and of course, Katie. Nine years throughout the life of my Gypsy Girl, then here and there with various rescue/foster pups. Katie and Dog Gone Walkin' have always been there to help, no matter when, where, and how needed, they have always found a way to make it work. Night before last, I almost hit a German Shepherd pup when she ran out in front of my car on Fountain in H'wood (I didn't but pulled over to help others catch her). She was hurt, scared, and abused, so not easy to handle. A bunch of us finally caught her, and I took her home for the nite. When I went to take her to the vet yesterday, i couldn't get a collar/leash onto her and/or get her into the car. I called everybody from the nite before, and anybody else I could think of -- including Katie, whom I hadn't spoken with in a couple years. I got a text back -- "in Highland Park right now, but I'll be there right after this." And she was. Katie and Dog Gone Walkin' -- this is a business with people who love what they do and who are good at what they do because they love what they do. And they're pretty damned knowledgeable regarding animal behavior, too. That's not as common as you might assume. I am an absolute animal lover. I very rarely write reviews for businesses and I write them when I'm 100% certain on my experience with one. I rescued my dog Amigo about a year and a half ago. He's not only my world, he's a very special animal to me. He was pretty tough to get acclimated when I first brought him home. He was always an angel with me. But, he bite about 5 of my friends and got expelled from my work after biting someone at work. But, in the process of working and training with him over the last year, I was able to truly rely and trust Katie and her team to walk him for me. I use them every single week for walks and the occasional dog sitting in a pinch. They have been EXCELLENT with not only understanding him, but also being a HUGE help and relief to me. What? I can't rate them 10 stars...because they seriously deserve it! Our dog Moose (a rescue mix 100+ pounds) is now socialized because of the services that Dog Gone Walkin' provides. They have been with us since the beginning with Moose. We were very nervous to have Moose interact with other dogs because of a few weird incidents we encountered with othe neighborhood dogs + local dog park here in Silverlake. Over the course of the last year-and-a-half Katie was able to help us feel secure about moose moving from individual to group hikes. One of the dog walkers that works for Katie - Nathan - is awesome. Moose gets so excited when he hears Nathan's car driving down the street. We have used Dog Gone Walkin' for private walks, group hikes, doggie boarding and would recommend them to anyone who lives within their service area. Our house was for sale for 7+ months and like clockwork...Dog Gone Walkin would come (always on time) to pick up Moose before our Sunday open houses and drop him off at the end of the day. We can tell he has been pampered and enjoyed his exercise as he is always tuckered out at the end of day and not following us around for snuggles etc... We are moving back to France and Moose will be happy to have a larger yard, but will certainly miss Katie, Nathan, and Dog Gone Walkin'. I have been using Dog Gone Walkin's services for almost a month. In that time I've really grown to like and trust the team I've been in contact with. From Catherine, who is incredibly responsive and helpful, to Danielle, who has been so patient with our dog, Olly. We are so grateful that even though it took him a bit to warm up to her, she didn't give up on him or write him off. This weekend, we had a bit of an emergency, in that it was our first time leaving him with a dog sitter while we went out of town... he didn't do so well with our dog sitter, and I reached out to Danielle hoping she'd be working over the weekend, and would be able to take him on a short afternoon walk. I could not dream of a better dog walking company. Beatrix is WONDERFUL. Not only does she frequently take our dog out for MUCH more time out and about with his gang of other dog-walking buddies than we expected (which we, and our dog, absolutely love and adore), she also is an amazing writer and photographer! The notes she writes about our dog, and the (often hilarious or beautiful, or both!) photos she sends us of him, are absolutely the highlight of my afternoon, and are amazingly well-written, soulful, descriptive, and informative! And Katie, the owner of the company, is incredibly responsive, flexible, and kind about our occasional last-minute schedule changes, and crazy, random needs for walking two dogs (when we've fostered other rescue pups for a few days, here and there). Beatrix has made our dog a better-behaved, calmer, more mature pup, and she has made my life immensely better, as a dog owner/lover and guilty worker-of-long-days-in-a-far-away-office! I honestly think he has more fun with her than he does with me, many days! - She takes the dogs on adventures to various parks in the area, and describes the weather and the dogs' interactions in her notes, so we get a real sense of how our dog's day was, from afar! Plus, she's incredibly creative...she made us a holiday ornament out of a lotus pod from Echo Park Lake! AND she's alerted us when I have absent-mindedly left my front door unlocked (and she's locked it for me!)...and dried off our dog when he got wet in the rain, and settled him on his heating pad so he wouldn't be cold all alone in the empty house, after his walk...and she's even driven back to our house when the neighbor's dog got loose and needed to be put back inside, and we couldn't get back home in time, and she had already left the neighborhood! We LOVE Dog Gone Walkin'! They go above and beyond, are truly decent, responsible, caring people, and they help our lives out in so many ways.
