I had previously had close friends or family members taking care of the kitty "kids" but when I moved from out of town to the Logan Square/West Bucktown neighborhood in 2013 I did not have that option. So, I looked on Yelp and found Home Alone. The reviews were good so I gave Erin a chance. Well, its 2019 and Erin has now been sitting for my kitties for six years. Why? Because she is like having close friends and family take care of my "kids." In addition to parenting the kitties she has alerted me to issues around the house, when the oldest cat was not doing well, and other things outside of her "job description." I found Home Alone Pet Service via Yelp last year and have been loving them every since! I was a little nervous when I was trying to find a pet sitting service because I've never used an outside service for pet sitting. When I reached out to Home Alone, Erin originally introduced me to Subarna. I had him watch my cat, Butter, for a few months. He was very responsive and Butter was well taken care of. Butter didn't do so well at first because he generally likes females better but Subarna would make sure that Butter is fed and would send me pictures to reassure me. Then when Subarna was unable to cat sit for me, I was introduced to Bethany. Butter and I absolutely adore Bethany! She is very responsive, responsible, and caring. Sometimes I have weird feeding schedule because of how available my roommate is and she is very flexible. She will make sure to take pictures every time she feeds and takes care of your furbaby. Home Alone Pet Service has been exceptional. I found them through Yelp as being close-ish to our new place in Logan Square. As our dog was set to arrive back to Chicago before us, I wanted to get setup with daily weeks to keep her moving (she's 15!) while she was in the care of our house sitter and while we were getting transitioned and moved. I really lucked out. Erin (the owner) and Subarna (walker) are absolutely wonderful. Not only reliable daily, but kind to our old gal, and flexible on some last minute requests. Extremely responsible AND responsive. They both went above and beyond for me last week when I was in a bit of a jam. Hashtag blessed straight up! Erin does the billing and they accept e-payments (I use Quickpay via Chase). Done via email and all very easy peasy. Needed a cat sitter since we were going to be gone on vacation. Found Home Alone through yelp and decided to give them a try. Erin came over to meet with us and to try to start bonding with our very finicky cat. Her rates were reasonable and she was in the neighborhood which was nice. I had to travel on short notice, and never having boarded my dog before I found myself in a rush to find a boarder who I felt comfortable with. I researched a number of places and they were all unsuitable due to some combination of price, availability, strict requirements or poor facilities. My experience with Home Alone couldn't have been better. My dog got to spend the weekend in a family setting with an experienced handler and other dogs. He didn't have to spend the entire time in a cage either. When I got him back he was exhausted but clearly had a great time, and he didn't smell like cleaning products (like dogs do when they come out of most kennels). Erin is very friendly and responsive, and clearly loves the pets that she watches. She sent me pictures and updates along the way, which did a great deal to make me feel more comfortable with the situation. I'd leave my dog with her again in a heartbeat. read more

Home Alone is fantastic! We had never left our two rescue dogs with anyone before, and were were apprehensive about finding a sitter. Erin totally put me at ease by suggesting that we bring our boys to her house a few days before our trip to get comfortable with her and her place. She was warm and doted on our pups like they were her own. After we picked them up, the boys were obviously happy and well-taken care of. She walked them several times a day and even let them sleep on her bed! Her prices are great, she's very dependable, and even sent us some great pictures of our dogs' adventures while we were away. We started using Erin about seven months ago as well when we first got our little puppy, Romie! She is amazing!! She is very dependable and is great with Romie. Romie absolutely adores her. I have boarded my dog once before and tentatively promised myself never to do it again following her behavior after we picked her up. We could not really find a solution for getting a sitter to stay at the house while we were gone, so we had to find someone. Anyhow, my mother dropped Lucy off on Friday and we picked her up on Sunday. Lucy was definitely happy and undisturbed. I would recommend Erin to anyone, although I don't want her to get so popular that she'll be booked all the time! I used to take my dog to a big commercial daycare/boarding and she really didn't like it. She loves Erin's house, and goes nuts when she sees we're coming up to the gate. We just started using Erin and Shane about 3 weeks ago. We had two dogs, one of which was special needs, suffering from Degenerate Myelopathy (ALS for dogs). We sadly had to put Bree to sleep a few days ago, but during the previous 3 weeks Shane showered her with love and affection. He spent extra time making sure she was able to get outside okay and then stayed with her to give her extra attention.
