    Beer with a view

The service was exceptional and the beer was super tasty.... however the pièce de résistance is the crack house located directly across the street. Let me tell you, I stayed for an extra beer just to watch the show. I took the liberty of creating this drinking game for you and your friends when you're sitting on the patio: - drink when you see an obvious drug deal going down in plain sight. - drink when you see someone emerge from one of the top floor suites onto a balcony that could collapse at any time. - drink when you see someone bum a dart - drink when you notice a trailer parked with no discernible explanation to how it got there (free drink). You be good to go in no time

We were pleasantly surprised by a small, but nice brewpub with board games to boot. They didn't have any tables for four because of reservations, but we were able to sit at the bar and set our kids up with a game of Battleship while we had some beer and food. The beer wasn't world class, but also didn't disappoint. The unicycle sour IPA, was my standout, but the porter and monster mash IPA were also good. The rest were fine, but not amazing. The food was (if anything) better than the beer. The plain cheese pizza my son got was good and had nicely browned cheese all over. The sauce was a bit on the sweet side, but not unpleasantly so. I'd probably lean more into pizza next time even if it's a bit too carb heavy. The spuds (potato wedges) were only OK. I got the Thai chicken salad, which was spicy with great greens and good chicken. Nice and fresh. My wife seemed to be less enamored of her bahn mi burger, but still said it was good. The service was attentive and happy to accommodate us and our kids. Would definitely come again.

The service was friendly and attentive and the cooks made the food super fast. The French press earl gray was very good. It was a great family restaurant. It was overall a great experience.

They had a wall of games to choose from that kept the kids entertained while we were deciding what to order and as we waited on the food. They had a decent selection of kids meals priced nicely at $9.75 - the kids had chicken strips, mini-sliders, and pepperoni pizza - the mini-sliders were their fave. Beer-wise, flights were purchased to try their offerings. They tasted alright but none wowed enough to be memorable. Food-wise, the fam raved about their yummy chicken wings that was part of the rib and chicken combo. The brussel sprout appie was a bit overcooked/soft and the poutine was ok. Pricing was decent for what you get. Space was clean and comfortable to dine in. Service may have been on the slower end but we weren't in a hurry so wasn't bothered by it. They allowed split billing for our group and there wasn't any extra gratuity tacked on.

I tried their Loaded Potato Skins, Baked Chicken Alfredo, and Creamy Coconut Mushroom Fettuccine--all beautifully presented and full of flavor. The potato skins were crispy and cheesy with generous toppings, the alfredo was creamy and comforting, and the mushroom fettuccine had a unique coconut twist that worked really well! For drinks, I had the Orange Bridge beer and a Classic Caesar--both refreshing and well-balanced. The only downside was that the portion sizes felt a bit small for the price. That said, the taste and quality made up for it. If you're in Port Alberni and want good food with a solid local brew, this place is worth a stop!

It is so rare to see a pickle dip on a menu and being a pickle obsessed connoisseur (yes I've been to pickle fest) I had to order it as an appy. My husband and I devoured it in about 5 mins. Great choice to pair with a salty ripple chip! For our mains, I got the oven baked chicken wings which I give full props on the crunch factor for an oven baked wing. My only qualm was the hot sauce was more like a sweet salsa. Totally fine if that's your vibe but I would maybe rebrand it as abit like a sweet salsa over a hot sauce. When I think wings and hot sauce, I'm thinking something more like a Franks. I also was thrilled when our server asked if I wanted it on the side as the wings stay even crispier if you put the sauce on after and I was so happy she shared this as it was a great reco. My husband ordered the corn nachos and holy moly these were delicious. Amazing amount of toppings and great melted cheese ratio to chip. Slam dunk on these! I would go back simply for these! On the beer side we both loved the Foeder Vienna Lager - so delish. And I loved that they carry Nonnys as I love a good non alc option!

The normal selection of beer is a pretty good flight of typical beers. The party wave hazy IPA from the normal line up stood out as both true to the style and very good. Not too sweet either. The featured limited release tap while we were there was the Brewmaster's Keep imperial stout aged on bourbon soaked oak (but apparently not actually in bourbon barrels). That was really fantastic, creamy and with just hints of bourbon sweetness. Our family of four was lucky enough to have the wrap-around table in the window looking out over the harbor and at the mountains, which was a great view. The food was about the same, but maybe a notch below the beer. I really enjoyed the beet, kale and feta salad, but the Reuben sliders my wife got weren't quite as good and the portions were on the small side. They had vanishingly little food for kids and even the "kids mac and cheese" wound up with onions in it and my son didn't eat it. They did make a bowl of plain rice for my daughter which she ate and they ate the chips that came with the Reuben sliders. The service was attentive and friendly the whole time and they had all the beers they had on tap also to go in cans.

I got a flight of the glowing embers ale, kelp stout, dark lager, and spruce tree ale. Dark beers are usually my favourite, but my favourite out of this batch might have actually been the glowing embers, which was described as a candied smoked ale. The caramelly/smoky combination was great. The kelp stout was interesting - I found it had a slightly vegetal finish but wasn't overtly kelpy. If you like stouts, you'll probably like this. All the beers were very enjoyable. The spruce tree ale and kelp stout are probably the two to try if you want something uniquely local. The Japanese street food truck outside was also fantastic! You can grab food from them and bring it inside the brewery. They also have bar snacks (pretzels, chips) inside. The building is cool. There are front and back patios, a spacious main floor, and a hidden, cozier second floor. The bartender that served me was very friendly. I noticed that the staff was very diligent about clearing tables inside but not so much outside, I saw a table on the patio that had abandoned empty glasses sitting on it when I went out to pick up my food truck order and still there when I left.
