A decent walk from downtown Tofino but worth it! The Tofino Brewing taproom has more than a dozen beers on tap with both classic and adventurous beer. I got a flight of the glowing embers ale, kelp stout, dark lager, and spruce tree ale. Dark beers are usually my favourite, but my favourite out of this batch might have actually been the glowing embers, which was described as a candied smoked ale. The caramelly/smoky combination was great. The kelp stout was interesting - I found it had a slightly vegetal finish but wasn't overtly kelpy. If you like stouts, you'll probably like this. All the beers were very enjoyable. The spruce tree ale and kelp stout are probably the two to try if you want something uniquely local. The Japanese street food truck outside was also fantastic! You can grab food from them and bring it inside the brewery. They also have bar snacks (pretzels, chips) inside. The building is cool. There are front and back patios, a spacious main floor, and a hidden, cozier second floor. The bartender that served me was very friendly. I noticed that the staff was very diligent about clearing tables inside but not so much outside, I saw a table on the patio that had abandoned empty glasses sitting on it when I went out to pick up my food truck order and still there when I left. read more

Every time we come to town we always stop here for some beers. Somehow we haven't managed to nail down when their most delicious. Beer is in season. If you ever see the spruce tip beer on top or in can make sure you try it. It's definitely our favourite that Tofino Brewing makes. We stopped here twice on our trip this past week. Their 20 oz beers are $80 Their food truck with sadly closed, which was a big bummer because we were so hungry the first time we came here this past week, but we learned our lesson that night, and brought in food from Soul which is across the street and is a delicious takeout restaurant that doesn't appear to be on Yelp. The space is huge and airy. In the summer there is seating out in the back as well as in the front so huge groups can come and hang out and enjoy some great beer. We were bummed to realize we missed trivia last Tuesday and hope to one day be there at the right time when the Japanese food truck is open and an event is going on. read more

I don't usually rate breweries, but felt compelled to give a shout out to Tofino Brewing! Excellent craft beer with a distinctly Pacific Northwest flavor profile. The hostess was very friendly, allowing us to sample their different offerings. Particularly enjoyed the Ethereal IPA with an almost champagne quality to it. After checking out Tofino Distillery, we backtracked to Tofino Brewing to to try a few beers. We dropped in on a Tuesday (around 6:00pm) and snagged a table in the back. There's two patio areas (front and back) along with several tables inside. Go up to the bar to order your beers. There was 10 beers on tap along with a couple snack options. For other drink options, there's Lonetree cider, a radler and snakebite (cider & beer) options. Beer cans are very reasonable. 6 pack can for $12.50 (355 ml cans) and 4 pack tall cans for $15.00 (473ml). - Flight ($8.50 for 4) - we tried the spruce tree ale, wonders of nature, winter lager and kelp stout. The spruce tree reminded B of spruce tips soap. The kettle sour had a bizarre finish; it was trying to be a sour but completely missed the mark. The winter lager was the only beer we enjoyed. I can't lie, this brewery is awesome. I've seen some reviews re snarky customer service. Honestly, I haven't experienced that at all. Came here on a Saturday and it was BUSY. The place is big with a bar and a seating area. It was actually too busy that we couldn't get a seat/table. It's a dog and kid friendly place so it makes it a good place to visit. Unfortunately, they can't offer you tasting at the bar either (they can only fill growers and sell you beer to go at the bar) so we weren't able to taste. They also don't sell you just one bottle. You have to buy 4 (at $24) that you can mix and match. Maybe we will be able to give this place another try while we are here for the weekend. read more

Tofino Brewery is definitely a place you should try after walking around the beautiful beaches...My sister and I got there around 7PM but they had already run out of a lot of their beers...The seating area isn't huge by any stretch of means...The music is crazy loud so you will have to yell real loud when having conversations. It seemed to me that they don't have any servers...you go order your drink and serve yourself...The location is fairly convenient hence I gave it 4 stars rather than 3...Tofino has other breweries and bars that are better than this one but still try it out... read more

Tofino Brewing has scooted up to the #1 spot for my favourite brewery because their beer is superior! This is the first time I actually found a stout I loved aka The Kelp Stout, so flavourful and light not filling. They also featured a Dark Lager which was super tasty too! Their Blonde Ale is my favourite and is a fantastic drinking beer for anyone, even people who don't fancy beer on the regular! I myself am not a huge beer drinker but this is a must try for everyone passing through Tofino or Ucluelet! Also the staff is awesome and chatty AND they have my favourite merch on sale. A really great spot for a flight! Beautiful space, heaps of parking and nice people working here. I was in before Halloween and they had great decorations all around. A local brewer way the hell out here?!? Yep, we're there. Even before they opened. The Spicoli type surfer dude literally opened the place for us to drink some beers. They had three beers that they were currently making that were on tap: a witbeer, Hoppin' Cretin IPA and the Tuff Session Ale, which was my favorite. They sell beer in growlers and mini growlers to go. Many local businesses had the Tofino brews on tap and we had them just about every time we saw them. We had a blast chatting with the guy working their taps. He was a true character and it just showed us that sometimes the folks you meet on your adventures are every bit as memorable as some of the other highlights. read more

Canada's Western most brewery could very easily produce simple, standard beers, because let's face it, when you're in Tofino, where else are you going to go? But no, they've put in a monstrous effort to craft some superb brews and serve them up in a tap room that deserves to be visited fresh from the beach. Sans shoes. All of the beers are worth your time, but for me, the Kelp Stout and (on the complete opposite side of the spectrum) Hunt & Gather Kettle Sour are the standouts. Beware, there is a drink limit at the bar as it is a tasting room, not tap room. So get inventive with your disguises and fake mustachios. read more

Dudes can brew. I first discovered Tofino Brewing at the Vancouver Craft Beer Festival at the Salt Building before it became Craft. I can't remember his name but blonde dude with flowing locks was super rad. Total surfer dude. The tasting 'room' is well designed and was happy to see surfer dude working. The whole place had a super Hawaiian chill vibe. Staff were so damn friendly. I tried their full line up: Blonde Ale, Tuff Session Ale, Hoppin' Cretin IPA, Kelp Stout, Spruce Tree Ale, and Tofino Lager. Kelp stout was very unique and made from local picked kelp. Usually any tree beer tastes like Pine Sol, but theirs was very enjoyable. I like the 4-pack box because why carry 6 beers worth when you can carry 8. I had to grab a T-Shirt as they have one of the best logos for a brewery. Big Shaka to these dudes. read more

The Hoppin' Cretin IPA, the Tuff Session Ale, and the Spruce Tip will all blow your socks off... and that's just to start... They have a great location, just down the street from RedCan Gourtmet (home of some delish pizza). The staff was very kind and helped describe the diffferent beers. We went on a mini tour and sampled some of the ales. Absolutely some of the best we've tasted. We eneded up taking home a Growler of the Blonde Ale - very flavorful with a smooth edge. Overall really great beer. We had a flight of all eight beers on tap and enjoyed most of them with only a few that were average in my opinion. Granted, any beer drank in this beautiful area is special and the icing on the cake. We sat at the bar and enjoyed people watching, mostly younger "active lifestyle" (ha ha, what a silly term!) types, but there were plenty of older people that came in to have a pint or two. The overall feel of the brewery is relaxed and I enjoyed the bright wood look of the place. I saw older photos of the brewery and this is a nice upgrade. The parking lot is mostly gravel so don't come here after a car wash. I do not think they have any formal tours of the brewing operations, and as far as I can tell, it is a standard setup and brewing operation. Food options were a bit light and I assume that food trucks or pop up grill events happen from time to time. I assume that we missed out on any special events that occur here. Bummer. Next time! :) Some of the merchandise available looked cool and the prices were reasonable. I was very close to buying a tshirt but refrained. (More money to spend on beer!) Granted, there are not many (if any other) breweries in the area, so TB has the "monopoly" for now. I will be interested to see what other breweries develop in the coming years as well as the new creations that the brewers here concoct. read more

My friends and I are major lagerheads who love sampling local breweries wherever we travel. Tofino Brewing Company roped us in with the intrigue of their kelp stout and the promise of (at least) an hour well spent. Their tasting room is a decently sized space with seating along the bar and one wall, but the place was overrun by visitors who sipped their beers standing when we were there. There were also droves of folks getting growler fills. I blame the Labor Day tourist throng, but was glad to see that business was thriving. Fortunately, our group of three snagged the last seats at the end of the bar. We all opted for flights, which are among the cheapest I've seen at 5 CAD apiece. The kelp stout was definitely interesting, but the Tuff Session Ale was my favourite, with the IPA following closely. The staff are friendly and happy to let you sample a sip of anything before you make your choice. If you like beer even just a wee bit, I highly recommend coming here on your way into town. read more

I think this the place all the locals go after work. We stopped by at about 5 pm after a full day of hiking. This is a tasting room, not a pub. No food, just good and decent priced beer. Five beers are on tap, their regulars plus a seasonal. You can get a pint or you can get a sampler of 4 of the 5. I chose their blonde ale. Very smooth and easy drinking. My husband opted for the seasonal beer, Spruce Ale. A little hint of pine, but not too much. The place is hip, has a great vibe and makes for a nice stop after a great day on the island! read more

Tofino Brewing has some great beers. My husband and I tried two flights of four so we could sample everything they had on tap at the time. The taproom was busy but we found space at the bar and got comfortable. We tried the Tuff session, Blonde ale, IPA, Dry Hopped blonde, Kelp stout, Tofino lager, Dark lager, and a siason. We enjoyed the darks and the IPA, the Dry hopped blonde was decent and the saison was very flavorful for a saison. The kelp stout didn't impress us much. We both found it to be too light for a stout beer and lacking the full body we're used to. Also, all of their beers have a relatively light ABV. We're used to stouts and IPAs having a higher amount. With that being said, these are still solid beers that offer good flavor and are very drinkable. Snacks on the menu are limited though. You may want to eat before hand if you're hungry. The staff was okay on our first visit. Not friendly but not rude either. The second visit was better, they weren't as busy and we just popped in to get beer to go. read more

Couldn't believe there was a brewery in Tofino. Definitely had to try it out and it was more than I could have hoped for. It's actually really cute. The place doesn't look like much as you are approaching, but it's very close off the main road, just follow the sign. Then there's a bar right in the tiny brewery, with the huge brewing tanks right there. They had 4 beers on tap- Blonde, IPA, tuff sessions, wheat. I was offered to try all of them and I remember saying that every single one was the best of that style of beer EVER. For sure best IPA I've ever had. The blonde was also all kinds of amazing. Came here with a few friends and we were super excited about trying out your beer. The building is cool and open concept. Service: The service is why we're giving it a low rating. It wasn't even that busy (maybe 3 tables were seated) and the really tall guy with long blonde hair who "greeted" us at the door was just super rude to us. We weren't giving him a hard time by any means and just wanted to sit in the sun and enjoy some beer. I understand that we all have our off days but man, this guys tone was just super demeaning towards us. It's like he didn't want us there or that we were inconveniencing him for giving the brewery some business. He let out this big annoyed sigh when we asked if we could sit in the sun. We were pretty close to leaving but wanted to give it a go. When we left, he said bye to us but it was just extremely condescending and unprofessional. We won't be returning to the brewery when we visit Tofino because of his rude service and will be warning our friends of this situation / person if they decide to visit. After looking at some reviews online shortly after, it seems as though this may not be the first time that this guy has acted this way. Super beer, but the service makes it difficult to enjoy. I started with a flight, but wanted to try 5 of their beers, so I kept my tab open, even though the way they handled when they served me was a bit of a red flag. (I was the third person in there, the first two were together- one server started cashing the others out and said the other would take care of me- and the other lady was surprised I was there? I'm sorry, I have bright pink hair right now- I'm not hard to spot.) since I had an open tab, my credit card was hostage as that same lady continued to ignore me while 4 people walked in and she served them without giving me a glance. The other lady was helping a to-go order and caught my frustration, and she was the one to help me in the end. The lady who continuously ignored me went on to apologize for a keg giving them problems as if that's why I was getting annoyed?
