two pints of beer on a table
    Chelsey H.

Every time we come to town we always stop here for some beers. Somehow we haven't managed to nail down when their most delicious. Beer is in season. If you ever see the spruce tip beer on top or in can make sure you try it. It's definitely our favourite that Tofino Brewing makes. We stopped here twice on our trip this past week. Their 20 oz beers are $80 Their food truck with sadly closed, which was a big bummer because we were so hungry the first time we came here this past week, but we learned our lesson that night, and brought in food from Soul which is across the street and is a delicious takeout restaurant that doesn't appear to be on Yelp. The space is huge and airy. In the summer there is seating out in the back as well as in the front so huge groups can come and hang out and enjoy some great beer. We were bummed to realize we missed trivia last Tuesday and hope to one day be there at the right time when the Japanese food truck is open and an event is going on.

I don't usually rate breweries, but felt compelled to give a shout out to Tofino Brewing! Excellent craft beer with a distinctly Pacific Northwest flavor profile. The hostess was very friendly, allowing us to sample their different offerings. Particularly enjoyed the Ethereal IPA with an almost champagne quality to it. The Kelp Stout has a deep, rich, complex caramel flavor - lovely.

After checking out Tofino Distillery, we backtracked to Tofino Brewing to to try a few beers. We dropped in on a Tuesday (around 6:00pm) and snagged a table in the back. There's two patio areas (front and back) along with several tables inside. Go up to the bar to order your beers. There was 10 beers on tap along with a couple snack options. For other drink options, there's Lonetree cider, a radler and snakebite (cider & beer) options. Beer cans are very reasonable. 6 pack can for $12.50 (355 ml cans) and 4 pack tall cans for $15.00 (473ml). - Flight ($8.50 for 4) - we tried the spruce tree ale, wonders of nature, winter lager and kelp stout. The spruce tree reminded B of spruce tips soap. The kettle sour had a bizarre finish; it was trying to be a sour but completely missed the mark. The winter lager was the only beer we enjoyed. The kelp stout was average. Generic beers at TB.

Fantastic brews and great atmosphere in a strange industrial setting but don't let that deter you from trying it.

awesome brewery right in the heart of tofino. best part- not only do they serve great food, they also serve free beer tasting!! you can never go wrong with a friendly brewery like this. amazing lager and blonde ale! friendly staff and atmosphere. ultra sleek and clean premises! a must go when in tofino!

I can't lie, this brewery is awesome. I've seen some reviews re snarky customer service. Honestly, I haven't experienced that at all. I'm visiting and have dropped by 3x now, and each time has been really splendid. I stop in to refill my small growler (more often than I should) Big fan of the front entrance look. Attaching a photo of the place in the snow, it's very pretty. (Ps - if anyone @tofino brewery monitors these reviews and wants to reach out my way, please do!! :):)) Thanks again! I'll be back....

Amazing beer here, it was well worth the wait! The drinks are all so good and the snacks here are great too. Definitely will be back again next time we're in town!

Tofino Brewery is definitely a place you should try after walking around the beautiful beaches...My sister and I got there around 7PM but they had already run out of a lot of their beers...The seating area isn't huge by any stretch of means...The music is crazy loud so you will have to yell real loud when having conversations. It seemed to me that they don't have any servers...you go order your drink and serve yourself...The location is fairly convenient hence I gave it 4 stars rather than 3...Tofino has other breweries and bars that are better than this one but still try it out...

We dropped in on a Tuesday afternoon (around 5:00pm) and they were fairly busy. There's only two tables inside but the patio can fit another two to three groups. There's about a dozen mini cocktail options (gin, vodka and absinthe based), all at a reasonable price of $4.34 per drink. Bottles included vodka/gin ($25.00 for 375ml, $43.00 for 750ml) and absinthe ($40.00 for 375ml, $75.00 for 750ml). Sad that they were sold out of their arancello (orange vanilla) and limoncello. - The bee's knees ($4.34) - light, floral and refreshing. - Tijuana go surfing ($4.34) - this one was our favourite (and seemed to be what everyone else was ordering). A tantalizing kick from the jalapeno and a touch of sweetness. Get it. - Demon dog ($4.34) - beware, the absinthe is heavy on the anise but still stays smooth and enjoyable. Worth a try but we aren't huge absinthe drinkers. Awesome spot to enjoy a few mini cocktails. Make sure you try the jalapeno vodka.

The normal selection of beer is a pretty good flight of typical beers. The party wave hazy IPA from the normal line up stood out as both true to the style and very good. Not too sweet either. The featured limited release tap while we were there was the Brewmaster's Keep imperial stout aged on bourbon soaked oak (but apparently not actually in bourbon barrels). That was really fantastic, creamy and with just hints of bourbon sweetness. Our family of four was lucky enough to have the wrap-around table in the window looking out over the harbor and at the mountains, which was a great view. The food was about the same, but maybe a notch below the beer. I really enjoyed the beet, kale and feta salad, but the Reuben sliders my wife got weren't quite as good and the portions were on the small side. They had vanishingly little food for kids and even the "kids mac and cheese" wound up with onions in it and my son didn't eat it. They did make a bowl of plain rice for my daughter which she ate and they ate the chips that came with the Reuben sliders. The service was attentive and friendly the whole time and they had all the beers they had on tap also to go in cans.

It is so rare to see a pickle dip on a menu and being a pickle obsessed connoisseur (yes I've been to pickle fest) I had to order it as an appy. My husband and I devoured it in about 5 mins. Great choice to pair with a salty ripple chip! For our mains, I got the oven baked chicken wings which I give full props on the crunch factor for an oven baked wing. My only qualm was the hot sauce was more like a sweet salsa. Totally fine if that's your vibe but I would maybe rebrand it as abit like a sweet salsa over a hot sauce. When I think wings and hot sauce, I'm thinking something more like a Franks. I also was thrilled when our server asked if I wanted it on the side as the wings stay even crispier if you put the sauce on after and I was so happy she shared this as it was a great reco. My husband ordered the corn nachos and holy moly these were delicious. Amazing amount of toppings and great melted cheese ratio to chip. Slam dunk on these! I would go back simply for these! We were pleasantly surprised by a small, but nice brewpub with board games to boot. They didn't have any tables for four because of reservations, but we were able to sit at the bar and set our kids up with a game of Battleship while we had some beer and food. The beer wasn't world class, but also didn't disappoint. The unicycle sour IPA, was my standout, but the porter and monster mash IPA were also good. The rest were fine, but not amazing. The food was (if anything) better than the beer. The plain cheese pizza my son got was good and had nicely browned cheese all over. The sauce was a bit on the sweet side, but not unpleasantly so. I'd probably lean more into pizza next time even if it's a bit too carb heavy. The spuds (potato wedges) were only OK. I got the Thai chicken salad, which was spicy with great greens and good chicken. Nice and fresh. My wife seemed to be less enamored of her bahn mi burger, but still said it was good. We were confused. Our organizer's assistant had set this up. I was just along for the ride. What a ride it turned out to be. The reason they don't do tables of 8 became obvious when we realized that this was a 2 star Michelin star restaurant that didn't have the stars yet. Pretty hard to get the folks at Michelin to wander into Uculet BC. Trust me when I say - it doesn't matter if they've been anointed by the rubber tire makers, they qualify in any event. They graciously accommodated our slightly diminished group of 7 at one cobbled together table. This is a world class dining room entirely contained within the floor plate of a 20th century home. It likely holds about 20 people per seating. The kitchen pumps out tasty pieces of art. The artists studio is naturally designed for intimacy, not rambunctious conference attendees. They bent the rules and pushed the limits of the kitchen to ensure we all got to experience the service as designed. They pulled it off. The photos below give you a glimpse into the menu. It clearly ebbs and flows with the seasons, and they were also able to accommodate needed dietary restrictions. Claire, our lovely server, took the time to ask each of our names, and then used them correctly throughout the evening. We were no longer strangers, we were guests in this former home. It happened to be Claire's last night before she left on a personal hiatus. I hope they can find someone as lovely to replace her. The food was tasty and beautiful. The wine pairings were sublime (with one slight miss) and the chef's amuse bouche and little delights were woven into the experience in a way that surprised and delighted us throughout. If you enjoy world class, and you find yourself in Tofino or Uculet - make the effort and head over to Pluvio. 4.9/5

What a disappointment our time at Blackfin turned out to be. We did manage to get a table on the patio and it was lovely looking out at the harbour. The service was decent but not as good as the service the evening that we dined at Dockside. It was very busy and our server did try her best. We ordered a bottle of wine and started our meal with a shared appetizer of brie with blackberries, peaches, ginger maple and citrus compote. It was supposed to come with Rosemary flatbread but it seemed to come with small pieces of pita bread with no rosemary. It was also the smallest piece of brie that we've ever been presented with. We probably should have sent it back but we could not find our server. There was only about l oz. or 30gr. of cheese. We each only got 2 very small bites from this $18.00 appetizer. For entrees my husband had Szechuan salmon and I had the steak and prawns. I tried a bite and it did not taste very good at all. My husband did not enjoy his salmon and thought maybe it was because of the seasoning but it definitely was not a good dish. My steak and prawns had overcooked prawns and one of the toughest steaks that I've had. It was very disappointing. When my husband commented to our server that the food was very disappointing she provided us with a complimentary dessert. We chose key lime pie and it was decent. I would not recommend Blackfin Pub. Go to Dockside instead. The view is the same, service is better and the food is significantly better.
