We love it! The staff is friendly and genuinely loves dogs. They cater the experience to your dog'a personality. We have a mini Aussie that just turned two. Being that he grew up in a time of quarantine, he needs to be more socialized. He is also a high energy dog. I can't give him enough activity during the day so he was being bad at night. After one day at Dogstar, we already see a difference. He has been an Angel today. read more

A great place for socializing for my little guy, but for free time for me too. A new customer will have to show your veterinary records for vaccinations and book a temperament test with one of the Dog Stars Staff before you can bring your fur buddy to participate in their daycare. We had paid for contract services and when we cancelled, because of the owner's attitude, we were owed a refund. When we received the refund, the owner cheated/shorted us by $50. She refunded what we would have paid per day, not refunding us the contract rate we actually paid. Be careful using Dog Star Ranch. We wouldn't recommend anyone taking their dogs here. read more

Forty-eight acres of heaven! We are visiting family in the area with our two dogs, one of which is a five-month old puppy. Having a place to run the dogs made them so much more manageable for the rest of the trip. That we also got to walk in some pleasant woods on some pretty Michigan mornings was a nice plus. This was a par three family golf place when I was growing up here, but now it's all fenced in and separated into several different areas including two ponds, several large play areas, and a large, heavily-wooded walking trail. The trails are pretty well maintained and the woods left pretty thick. The fenced in play areas are large enough that you can throw the ball or frisbee as far as you can and not worry about throwing it out of the area. They've left a number of trees in place in those areas and even put out some nice benches. It's a great use of the space. They do temperament test dogs before allowing them in the park, which is nice. We met some very nice dogs (and owners!) in the park and visited every day for a week. Month (or longer) memberships come with a gate key, so you can come use the park even when the office is closed, which is very convenient for those early morning or late-night walks. We'll visit this place everything we're in town with the dogs and we wish there was something like this near where we live. read more

We have used Dog Star Ranch for years. We bring our dogs there when we go on vacation or if they just need a day to get their energy out. Our fur babies get so excited when they realize they are at Dog Star. We always have them get groomed before we pick them up because they love to get dirty at the ranch. When we pick them up they smell so good and have a cute bandana on their neck. We love Dog Star Ranch and so do our puppies. :) read more

I toured this dog boarding facility and met the owner in January 2016. She had an air of superiority and made me feel foolish that I was concerned about details of my 2 dogs care and stay. Yes I am an overprotective dog mom. That's why I was looking to feel reassured! I still hesitantly scheduled the meet and greet temperament test and a couple weeks later the night before our appointment the owner called me and cancelled due to inclement weather her employee called in. This put me on guard and I decided to look elsewhere. My husband and I both went to work the next day the roads were not bad yes it snowed but we live in Michigan and life should go on as usual at a dog board facility in January. now not impressed assumed our dogs would receive a lower level of care if the weather was bad since dig star ranch has I dependable employees weather permitting. read more

I would not advise using Dog Star grooming facilities. We took our senior golden retriever for a nail trim and bath in November. This dog has some mild arthritis that bothers her with stairs, but otherwise she walks fine. She walked in as a normal dog and when we picked her up 2.5 hours later, she was unable to put any weight on her hind legs. The owner came out when she was alerted the dog couldn't walk, helped us get her to the car, and then she told me it was likely stress as the dogs have to walk quite a distance to the grooming station...clearly, not a good setup right there. When we got our dog home, noticed a scrape on the front of one of her back legs. At this point, I called the owner and asked again what had happened. I told her I realized this is an older dog and didn't want to place blame but needed to know what caused her injury to properly treat it. At this time she told me absolutely nothing happened and that the groomer said she had noticed a scrape on the dog's leg when she began with her, which I know was absolutely not there when we took the dog in. This "stress" took almost a week and 3 aspirins a day to start to improve. I was days away from having the dog put down since she was unable to even lift herself up to relieve herself. I also believe the dog had to have been dragged to the reception area as she clearly didn't stop walking the minute I saw her. The owner never followed up which seems to me would have been good customer service. Never will I use this facility again. read more
