This was the worst grooming experience my Great Pyrenees has ever had…read more Before booking, I contacted them multiple times (by email and by phone) to specifically ask whether they had experience grooming Great Pyrenees or should I take him somewhere else, because many places, rightfully so, do not groom Pyrs as they require a specific grooming style and can be extra work. I emphasized that I did not want his coat cut or shaved. My only request was to have his winter undercoat blown out and thoroughly brushed, and his stomach shaved to short hair for the summer to help keep him cool and dry. During the appointment, they called to ask if they could trim around his mane because he had matting, assuring me it would still look natural. Based on that conversation, I agreed to a minimal trim, thinking this would be with scissors to target just the mats. Instead, they shaved off his entire mane down to his undercoat. This is not what was discussed and I was in complete shock when I saw his haircut. The top coat of great pyrs helps regulate their heat, keep them clean, and keep them dry. Furthermore, he came home with a wound down his back leg (shown in picture) that was actively bleeding. They failed to disclose this information. I have taken my dog to professional groomers for years, and no groomer has ever shaved his mane. Great Pyrenees have a double coat that requires breed-specific knowledge, which is why I took the time to confirm their experience beforehand. I am extremely disappointed with the condition my dog was returned in. I understand Great Pyrs are a more complex breed to groom, but I provided many outs and opportunities for a simple Google search. He looks nothing like he should, and I cannot recommend this groomer to anyone with a double-coated breed.

Seppi's had some problems with itching, and that's after trying the allergy shot, and Apoquel. This woman was convinced that Seppi had fleas and insisted that the only way to see is to shave her. Again, I was feeling very pressured and uncomfortable, and I wish that I would have taken Seppi out of there. Once she was shaved, she said that there were no fleas, which I had already said she didn't have them. For the last week, my two cats have been afraid of her because she looks like a different dog, with Maggie hissing at her. Even Dugg is being aggressive towards her, and it breaks my heart. I've had to put a shirt on her so the animals wouldn't be mean to her. I want my beautiful dog back, I'm gut wrenched over this. I believe this woman claims to be a groomer but there really wasn't any grooming involved; I just paid $80 for a terrible haircut that I could have done myself. I truly hope people reconsider taking their pets here. Below is my original comments and photos. My review got deleted for some reason. This is a long post, but worth the read. I have been taking my dogs to Raquel since 2014 I believe. I felt she did a good job with them and was flexible with my schedule as well as very fair with price. I have seen reviews about her erratic behavior and such but had personally never really experienced anything like that until this morning. I took my 3 pups in for their appt. and I typically drop them off in the cages that are inside her salon and leave them there. Sometimes she is home and sometimes she is not. It's never been a big deal as they are inside where it's either warm or cool in the summer. This morning the cages were outside in the UNHEATED garage with the door open. I noticed she had called and asked me to leave them in there. As it was only 43 degrees out and my dogs are 7, 11, and 18 pounds I was a bit shocked at this request. So I called her and told her that it was too cold to leave them there. She said it would only be for 5 mins. So I said that was no big deal and I would happily wait with them in my heated car. She then said it was going to be 20 mins and they would be fine out there and I was being ridiculous! I couldn't believe it. I said that I would just come back in 20 mins with them as I really did not want them outside. My 7lb pup has separating anxiety and tends to "squeal" when left so I also didn't want to alarm neighbors. And, yes, she can be THAT loud when left. Again, I just couldn't believe she was even asking me to do this. So again I said it was no big deal for me to come back in 20 mins. She then replied that I would have to reschedule them if I didn't want to leave them because they would be fine. I said that I couldn't reschedule as they had been waiting to get in and needed to be groomed. Which I was confused about need to reschedule at all since if I met her back in 20 mins as she claimed she was going to be gone for then it was not like she was loosing any time, right? So why would that mess with her schedule. I can only assume it's because she was going to be longer than 20 mins and did not want me waiting for her again when I got back. So when I said I could not reschedule she AGAIN proceeded to tell me how ridiculous I was being and that I could just take them someplace elseLiterally could not believe it. Here I am, a loyal customer who stuck with her after she lost my dog (yes it ran away from her facility because she left her outside), sedated one of my dogs to "calm her down" without asking me, and who had stuck up for her when others claimed she was unreasonable. I just want all to know that apparently loyalty does not matter to her. That the second you don't agree with something she feels, then you're ridiculous and as far as she's concerned there is no need for her to be civil to you. I put my dogs back in my car and got the hell out of there. I would NEVER bring my dogs back here no matter how cheap she works. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend if you take your pet there now to reconsider because when the time comes that there is a slight disagreement then you're like trash to her. Or at least that's how'll she treat you. Raquel is amazing and such a sweet person! She truly loves animals and will do her best to make you happy with her results. Highly recommend!
