They are compassionate and always finding a way to help grieving families. They are flexible and creative. Finally I must say they are really good neighbors. As someone who lives in Dearborn I'm impressed at how the expectations are stated that all staff are to be involved as public leaders in the local community where they serve as local funeral directors. As soon as they saw there was a trust and that my husband's family would be paying for everything, they excluded me from all arrangements. I had to force myself into the process to have any say at all. My husband wanted to be cremated. I agreed to release him into the hands of Howe-Peterson because his family all reside in MI and there was a family plot where he could rest next to his grandmother. Once I agreed to release him, within a matter of hours there was an online obituary (my husband was adamant about not having an obit and I have that in writing), the services were scheduled...a religious service and my husband was not religious and resented every aspect of his Lutheran upbringing. I had to ask for the obit to be changed to include the other important members of his life - not just his cats who passed, but his 2 furbabies (dogs) that he loved and cared for, because they weren't even mentioned. After I contacted the funeral director to let him know I was being excluded, I was able to provide my husband's suit, pictures of our life on a thumb drive for a slide show (they had only previously made arrangements for his family to provide framed photos), his jewelry, the ashes of his cherished cat who passed, and I asked for a lock of his hair. I was assured that these items would be returned directly to me or a member of my family as there were now some issues between myself and his family that were coming to light. It was later discovered, at the cemetery, where the funeral director was nowhere to be found, that the funeral home had in fact given all my items directly to his family. They put me and my family in a position to have to fight to get back things that his family had absolutely no right to and no interest in, during an already highly emotional time. I received a call indicating that they have sent the items through overnight mail after they received the items back from the family, so they followed through in ensuring I receive the items back in my possession, however this never should have happened. In addition, my place of employment (people that knew my husband) sent a flower arrangement to be displayed at the service and they rejected it on behalf of my husband's family! Who does that?? Absolutely disgusting. It seems that with Howe-Peterson, they only care about who has the money and that is who they answer to and take direction from. If you're the surviving spouse who only wants to honor the wishes of your loved one, forget it. You don't matter.

He was so helpful with questions; his patience and empathy authentic. We are from out of state and chose Howe - Peterson because of the convenient location - knowing nothing of the services or reputation. They have online booking! Very convenient. Also you choose a groomer. My first time I wasn't really sure who to choose. I didn't really care as long they're a good genuine person that won't hurt my fur baby. I chose the first name. Then you tell them at the appointment what you want done. This place is small but they manage. It is caged but the cages, at least in the front, that "showcase" doesn't seem that bad. I thought my dog would do terrible but he was just patiently waiting there and didn't get riled up even seeing me. Staff is super friendly. I had Erin do my dog's grooming and she was very welcoming and made me comfortable right away. They check for vaccines. Mainly rabies. You fill out a sheet and it asks about health concerns and I mentioned the trachea. She said they won't have him leashed around the neck. We have been using their cat sitting services for about two years now, and we are so happy that we found them. PCAP is composed of a staff of friendly, real people who really love animals. Each and every visit is carefully documented and they always leave cute comments about how the cats are doing and what they're up to. Upon request, the staff is even accommodating about sending pictures to keep us updated. We love receiving the pictures while we're away! We feel we've really built a trusting bond with this company, and we will continue to use their services for years to come. When you're away from home, you don't want feel stressed about whether your furry family members are okay... with PCAP, we always feel very assured that the kitties are in good hands, so we can relax and have a good time on vacation. This company was a God-send!…read more Over the holidays, I was in need of some one to watch my Lab mix doggie for 10 days. I absolutely did NOT want to put her in a kennel. I wanted to her to be in her own environment (I'm one of those people that view their dogs as part of the family and my husband and I like to refer to her as our "fur-baby", so yes, we are over protective dog-parents). All my friends who normally would have watched her- couldn't, due to the fact it was over Christmas and New Years- Panicking, I did a quick search on Yelp and found this place. I saw they have good reviews, so I emailed the owner, Meghan Gilliatt, and she emailed me back right away (um, amazing service!) She was able to answer all my questions and concerns. We set up a free consultation with the manager, Laurie. She came over to our house and right away we knew that the people who work here, love pets! Our dog immediately loved Laurie (after all dogs know right away if some one is a doggie-lover) We set up our doggies visits while we were away. While we were gone, the employees sent me text updates with pictures every day! They also fill out a daily visit "report card" so you know everything that went on for each visit. I loved that even though we were far away, our dog was happy in her own home and getting so much love!
