So good These are next level hot dogs. As someone who frequently consumes big dogs for next to nothing from those giant club grocery stores and thinks they are good, I've been schooled. Doggystyle offers regular sized dogs for more money but what you get is exceptional. It is the difference between cramming food down your throat vs really appreciating a good dog. Doggystyle has identified 12 regions around the US that offer their versions of hot dogs. Most of us are aware of the Chicago dog, but there are many, many more. I looked over their website before I arrived and decided on their Detroit dog and their Oklahoma dog. I encourage you to look at the great photos on their website. They all looked so appealing. You order at the counter, and they bring you your food when it's ready, in my case it was 6 or 7 minutes. What attracted me to the Oklahoma dog was the BBQ sauce on top. It was sweet with bits of bacon or pork, with cheese and grilled onions. The slightly toasted bun was perfect. So good. I picked the Detroit dog because it looked like a really good chili cheese dog with raw onions on top, and it was. It was even just a little spicy. It was another excellent choice on my part. Probably #1 hot dog spot in Sarasota. I got a chance to visit this place about a year ago and I'm pretty sure they were brand new. Had a pleasure talk to the owner Steve, he told me incredible story of how he came up with all the signature hot dogs recipes on the menu trying to capture that region or area cuisine. I could tell he is very passionate about his restaurant and knew it won't disappoint. The hot dogs are delicious. So delicious I returned today during my visit to Sarasota! Prices went up a little but where did they not? I think it's still pretty reasonable. The hot dogs are not too big so if you're very hungry I'd recommend picking two with a side. I tried Hawaiian and Philly today and oh my. So much flavor, so much stuffing, yum! Hawaiian is probably my favorite, pineapple salsa works really really well with honey mustard. Bottom Line: Friendly staff and tasty hotdogs with toppings inspired by various regions. DoggyStyle is a casual eatery specializing in hotdogs. They also have hamburgers, french fries, shakes, beer, soda and such but the pride of the pack are the dogs. The various style of dogs are topped with ingredients inspired by different regions. For example, the Philly Dog gives a nod to a Philly Cheesesteak and is topped with grilled onions, grilled mushrooms and shredded swiss. I think its important to understand that the different style of dogs are just inspired by ingredients in the region and not necessarily meant to be an authentic version. I had the Philly Dog and my husband had the Chicago Dog. We shared some tasty crinkle fries too. To my point above, the Chicago dog was clearly inspired by a Chicago hotdog but a bit different than what we've had in Chicago. Creative license or not, the dogs are definitely delicious. I secretly wanted to order another hot dog - like the Hawaii Dog with pineapple salsa or the Texas Dog with chili. When we walked into DoggyStyle I was so excited to see a Coca-Cola fountain soda because I had been craving a diet Coke. Much to my surprise, there was not any diet Coke so that was such a bummer! We ate in and the owner came to check in on us so that was nice. We enjoyed the casual atmosphere including the roll up garage door that allowed for some good people watching. I had to try this place as soon as I heard about it opening up. The owner is really nice and helpful. They offer all of the classic hotdog styles from around the country and a few others too. They have 30 different ways to garnish your dog. The buns are made in such a way that they are soft on the inside and slightly toasty on the outside. They also offer burgers and a few other things too. In addition to the usual soft drink options they have a handful of beer, hard ciders and White Claw type of options. We were in the area getting food from another vegan place but saw that these guys have a vegan options and well as a dedicated plant based foodie I had to at least try one. Took one for the team lol.. besides the fact they have a vegan option I was nicely surprised that price dropped a few cents for it.( a rarity in the vegan and plant based arena ). The owner and staff is really nice and helpful. There no outside sitting ( a lot of places in the area do) but there's more than enough sitting inside and has a really laid back style. I would say just like a hot dog place should look. There's a ton of options and the owner helps guide us in the options we had. My mom and I were walking around downtown Sarasota when we saw Doggystyle. She wanted to go in and see the menu. We started chatting with the owner, Steve, who was super friendly and passionate about creating the best hot dog. We are from Chicago, so of course we love our hot dogs. I wasn't even hungry, but after reading the menu and smelling the food cooking I knew I needed to try a dog. We had juat eaten about an hour ago and I wasn't even hungry, but these hot dogs were calling to me. Being the indecisive person I am, Steve pulled up pictures (which was awesome because I usually decide based on pictures) and recommended his favorites based on some of my dietary restrictions. I ended up with the California Dog which had lettuce, tomato, red onion, bacon, and caraway mayo... did I mention the hot dog was wrapped in bacon?! I expected just some bacon crumbles, but Steve serves only the best here. If you cannot find a hot dog you like (which I can't imagine) you also have the option to create your own from the fresh ingredients. The reason I loved it so much was the hot dog was juicy, the toppings yummy, and the bun was perfectly proportioned to the dog.
