The films I checked out were The Visitors and Cast a Deadly Spell (part of the H.P. Lovecraft series) both perfect picks that I never would've stumbled on through an algorithm. Not to mention, there is a HUGE array of specialty and genre-specific films that can only be found on Blu-ray and/or DVD. And that's before you even get to the VHS and Laserdisc sections, which are very much alive and well here. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and warm, and they clearly enjoy where they work. I personally love their custom system of film organization sections broken down by theme, country, and some genuinely inspired niche categories that you won't find anywhere else. Also, the privately curated, rare graphic zines at the check-out counter are absolutely worth a glance. What's easy to overlook? This place is a registered nonprofit and the largest independent physical media library in the country, with over 150,000 titles. Many are out of print and flat-out unstreamable, titles that don't exist on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, or anywhere else combined. I hired Game Truck to deliver an online gaming experience for my daughters 10th birthday. And boy…read moredid they deliver. The game counselors are punctual, professional and most importantly really good at working with kids. We had 17 kids total, ranging in age from 4-11 piled up in our playroom. Game Truck brought 20 Nintendo Switches and every kid got to pick not only which game they wanted to play (Fortnite, Minecraft, Mario Kart,, etc) but whether or not they wanted to play with other kids or on their own. That last detail is crucial. Some kids just want to build in Minecraft without the threat of another kid destroying their creation, or explore Fortnite without the threat of sniper fire. During the 1.5 hours of play, I checked on the kids periodically because it was so quiet. Every time I checked the kids were happy and calm, laying on their tummies or against the couch just soaking up the experience. IBT puts on beautiful professional ballet productions for the Eastside community. I have been…read morewatching them for years. One of my favorites is the Nutcracker. Since my daughter takes ballet lessons at the International Ballet Academy (IBA) she was given the opportunity to dance in the IBTs Nutcracker last year. It was very demanding (lots of rehearsals and shows) but just as rewarding. She had such a positive experience, she wanted to do it again this year. My daughter has been with IBA for 4 years and takes lessons from Ms. Alison who is a wonderful teacher (see my other review on IBA). She has also enjoyed taking lessons from Ms. Hiromi at IBT's Nutcracker rehearsals and looks forward to taking more classes from her at IBA next year.
