[This review is specifically for their downtown Brooklyn location]…read more This gym does not provide a safe environment for women. In the locker room, there are chairs directly facing the changing area. This invites patrons to sit on the couch, with phones in their face, directly facing members who are changing. Three separate times I have turned around, while unclothed, and seen members using phones that are pointing directly at me (including being on FaceTime). While most members would put their phone when asked, some won't, claiming that photography is not allowed, but phone usage is permitted. To be clear: A person holding a phone up in a locker room creates a reasonable fear of recording, regardless of what they claim to be doing. This is such an egregious violation of privacy, and honestly displays a lack of common sense from management. Further, it should not be the job of members to police one another; it should be the job of management to provide a safe place for changing before and after workouts. Management has so far ignored my messages about this complete lack of respect for privacy.

Loved this place! I lived in NYC for a little over a year from 2022-2023 and was an Equinox member…read moreuntil I moved to somewhere where EQX didn't have a location. I visit NYC every so often for business trips, and have always struggled to find a gym I like that supports guest passes. I can happily say my search is finally over -- I'll definitely be coming back to GYM NYC every time I'm visiting the city! They sell 1-week passes for about $170, and day passes for $40. For me, it worked out better to get 4 day passes compared to the 1-week pass, but for those who would be visiting for a week and need to go 5+ sessions, that 1-week pass would be for you. Compared to EQX, the gym is way less crowded (even though it's smaller) and has all the equipment you need! The equipment is modern and plentiful: there are 2 flat bench press setups, one incline bench press, 3 deadlift platforms, and 4 squat racks. For accessory work there's also 3 adjustable flat benches and plenty of dumbbells. I usually go around 7am, which gets pretty crowded at EQX -- but this morning even by 7:30 there were still only a few other people in the gym. Amazing!

I recently took a yoga class here and really enjoyed it. The instructor, Moriah, created a welcoming environment, and it was a great way to stretch, recover, and recharge after a busy week. Definitely used muscles that had not been used in a while and I felt it. The variety of group fitness classes is one of the main reasons I joined. Since this was my first class, I didn't realize you had to sign the physical class check in form when you scan your barcode to enter the gym. So I received a $10charge for no show. I called and a staff member was able to help me by flagging this situation for someone who could get the charge reversed. The gym has plenty of equipment, and the amenities are excellent. The dry sauna has quickly become one of my favorite features. The locker rooms are spacious and stocked with towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, blow dryers, and even hair straighteners, which is a thoughtful touch. I'm only a week into my membership, but I'm really happy with my decision to join and look forward to spending a lot more time working out here.

I have a demanding work schedule and pay a high fee for the convenience of this gym, yet I'm constantly left with no equipment to use. Completely unacceptable.

By far one of the best Life Time Fitness gyms in NYC. Almost a hidden gem to be honest. Right in…read morefront of Madison Square Garden, you get a good view of the stadium and all the craziness happening down below to get into MSG. A lot of the Life Time locations in NYC are fairly small in size but so is everything else in town like restaurants, hotels, and retails stores. What I love about this location is that I feel like a lot of people don't know that it's here. I come and usually traffic is fairly light. Just avoid it between 5pm-7pm because the locker rooms are small and yes they completely fill up sometimes. Theres three floors: 1st floor is check-in, Pickleball courts (w/ beer & wine) on tap, second floor is cardio, a few studios and the LifeCafe. Third floor is weights, machines, locker rooms and a few other studios. The gym is very clean overall. People mind their own business, they get their workout in and get out. Which is great because you hardly ever have to wait around for a machine.

This location needs to be fully investigated! I used to work here at LifeTime Fitness Penn1…read morelocation. I am in absolute disgust on how the work place has treated me. I reached out to HR and mentioned mainly on how I've been treated there and how it affected my health. No I didn't state EVERY single detail because I wanted to see what would be done with just the information that I gave. Since no real action has been taken. I will share my full story on working at LifeTime Fitness PENN1. I went through a lot mentally, physically, emotionally. The supervisor for operations once made a fat joke, woman supervisor was passive aggressive towards me, sexually harassed by some of the men employees they would make sexual remarks about my body and I was always super uncomfortable to show up to work and be around others. There was a time I couldn't show up to my shifts because I started to get nose bleeds, light headed, overheated, pelvic bleeding from all the work overload, chronic chest pains, anxiety attacks, going to endless doctors appointments. I would go into the bathroom stall and break down in tears. I was getting write ups on rules and regulations that were never enforced to me or the team. Everyday I show up and do my best, and it was never enough. While the other co-workers are in towel room smoking THC vapes, drinking on the job, always taking breaks and stepping outside, eating chatting and laughing majority of their shift while gossiping about me. Not to mention one day I had the worst chest pain that last me two hours in the middle of the night and I had to go to work early the next day. I did end up going in late and when I clocked in I spoke to the supervisor and told him what happened. He then says '' OH OKAY, BY ANY CHANCE CAN YOU STAY LATE TODAY ?" the lack of empathy is sickening. Every time they needed coverage I was there, the task that was needed I've done and this is how I was treated during my time there. I am genuinely disgusted and disappointed on how this company gets to get away with this. I would not recommend working here its not worth the time, energy, experience nor pay. I left 3 1/2 months ago im truly traumatized and still in shock. NEVER AGAIN.
