Scam alert! I wish I read these reviews prior to signing up for the 6 week challenge. I was motivated and hopeful, especially due to prior positive crossfit experiences at other gyms and learned a big lesson about reading reviews first. To be clear: The 6 week challenge which is falsely advertised as free costs $632. If you lose 25 pounds they say you get your money back. Doing the math, this type of program endorses disordered exercise and eating. It's not healthy to lose that amount of weight in 6 weeks They exploit those that have unrealistic goals, financially. Personally, I am writing because I was supposed to start the 6 week challenge right before COVID and they continued to bill be throughout the gym closures. I explained that I would be willing to transfer the money I already paid into a regular membership following COVID and they refused. I called my credit card company since it is illegal to charge for a gym that is closed due to COVID. The credit card company advised to file a claim. They responded by calling collections. I am confident that the credit card company will handle this for me, but am sickened by these practices overall. Mostly, I am genuinely worried about the mental health of potential consumers in the future. The actual classes are extremely variable since the staff are not well trained. The staff themselves told me that they are not treated properly and that there are is little, inconsistent communication with management. It shows in the classes, and the workouts are not as effective as other crossfit programs I have done as a result. read more

I have mixed feelings about this. The staff is great, classes are good, great accountability coaches and awesome community. However, management is awful. They are scammers. Joe ( who refused to provide his last name and direct number) is the most horrible and greedy person I ever encounter. I take he is one of the owners. After the pandemic broke, I reached out to one of the coaches and asked for my membership to be cancelled, the reason being: no longer living in the city and financial hardships. I got an "ok" text message. Months later, I get a charge on my credit card. I was connected to Joe, who wanted to charge me for another month as a cancelation fee, which clearly is not part of the contract, and refused to give me credit for the month charged. After many back and forth emails, he finally understood and agreed a proper notice was given and no extra charges were to be charged to my account. I have on an email with his own words agreeing to this. They stole my money, he is a thief. I had to call my credit company to dispute the charge. They settled to give me a refund, which I was happy. But later, they send me to collections???? For something he agreed and settled?? Talk about ethics. Stay away from this gym, there are far better gyms with better customer service and honesty than WillyB. They are scammers, and as much as I hate to say this: they deserve to close for their terrible customer service ethics. read more

I took the 6 Week Challenge and loved my experience at both the Willy B Bowery and Tribeca locations. The trainers, the equipment, the results- everything was excellent The trainers are very knowledgeable. I had never done CrossFit before and, while I had done weight training, rowing and kettlebell classes elsewhere, I was able to learn and grow as an athlete. If there were movements that were too advanced for my skillset, the trainers were able to help modify some of the more advanced movements so that over time I could achieve the advanced movement safely and correctly. The gym itself is fantastic. They just gave the Tribeca space a complete makeover and its great atmosphere to workout in. All the equipment is well maintained and cleaned regularly. Its a very safe and amazing space to workout. And thanks to the previous two things, I got some amazing results with which I am incredibly pleased. I lost 6% body fat which initially I thought was going to be pretty darn impossible to accomplish. But, with the help of my trainers in class and the diet plan that they gave me, I was able to crush my goals. My clothes are loose. I can see my abdominal muscles for the first time ever. Plus I have received quite a bit of notice from coworkers about my slimmer and trimmer build. It's been a major win This program was so worth it. I successfully completed a 6-week challenge with WillyB CrossFit Bowery, losing 7.6% body fat when the requirement was at least 6%. If I said it was easy, I'd be lying. Your diet is incredibly important. Luckily, Cavan is there to help guide you and keep you on track, day and night. Of the 3 class options (Foundations, HITT and Crossfit), crossfit was my favorite. I typically took Jeff and Mark's classes, with Mark's being the most challenging. Not because the workout was too much but because of their different teaching styles. Jeff is very kind, which I appreciate. However, Mark has a was of making you want to punch him because he's so direct and stern; yet you want to hug him because he believes in you and knows you can push harder - does that make sense?! I came in to WillyB Crossfit to take their 6 week challenge and didn't really know what to expect. It turned out to an awesome experience. I lost 6 percent of my body fat in just 3 weeks I took all my HIIT classes with Chris, he makes the classes fun and at the same time pushes you to do your best. Jeff was the person I took most of my crossfit classes and I am amazed of knowledgable he is in just about everything. He teaches you proper techniques so you won't get hurt and shows steps on how you can gradually work towards doing all exercises to the fullest. The workout are tough but so much fun. I learned to do things I never would have attempted to do on my own going to the gym. The atmosphere is great and even the other member are friendly and supportive during class. Review of 6 week challenge: Wanting to make some changes and meet some personal fitness goals I took to searching for a program to help motivate me further. Thankfully I found Bowery Crossfit on Instagram where they were promoting their periodic 6 week challenge. Caught between an impending trip abroad and a strong desire to get closer to my goals, I decided to make both happen. The team worked with me to schedule around my 2 week trip and with great effort on my part and considerable understanding on theirs, we made it happen. The gym set one of two goals to beat for the challenge: either hit 25 pounds or 6% body fat in 6 weeks. The program was 600 dollars for the duration of the challenge split however is comfortable. I did it in 2 payments of 300. You can also pay as you go. There are a couple of weigh ins to monitor your growth. Upon final weigh in if you beat the challenge you have the option of a refund (check, refund to debit or credit card, or pay it towards a (slightly discounted?) Gym membership which you can structure with the staff accordingly. To reach that goal they reccomend hitting the gym at least 3 times a week, though students could attend as many crossfit and HIIT classes as often as they wanted, provided they participate in 8 Crossfit Fundamentals training classes, before moving up to regular Crossfit classes. This can also be accomplished by taking HIIT sessions in combination. I found that the most effective strategy was to follow up my Crossfit Fundamentals class with a HIIT class, 1 hour each, led by a personal coach guiding the class. Depending on how many people signed up for the session, you could even have a 1 on 1 personal training session with the coach if you were the only one who came. Even for larger groups, you still get more individual attention. It seems crazy but you can do it and much more if you try. Coach Mark gave me some excellent words of courage "its okay to throw up but you can't give up"; words to live by. One of the best coaches they have, he'll help push you to your limit, especially in the HIIT class, and he was very welcoming, the main reason I ended up taking the HIIT classes because he invited us to after the crossfit Fundamentals, which I didnt know we could do as students until he kindly encouraged us to if we wanted more of a challenge. I met with Abbee initially who handled my intake, where we spoke about time line , goals , process, and after signing the papers she handed my initial weigh in, so that we could track growth toward the 6 week challenge goal. After that I was set up with Chris as my accountability coach, who recommended that I use the myfitnesspal app to track my caloric intake and nutrition plan. All the main staff use in house texting numbers so you can reach out to ask questions and be pushy about it if you have to--pushy meaning persistent but respectful. There are several coaches. Amanda is rarely at the Bowery location but she is easily the best agility and movement instructor (think yoga and similar). I got to work with her only once but it was so enjoyable. Mark is a work master he'll push you hard and motivate you and he's a champ. The other coaches are also very good. I worked with Kai and Jeff and Maria as well. All extremely well trained and knowledgeable. They also are great about scaling the movements and the repetitions based on your current strength level, so you can do the workouts adjusted to your level. Ask ask and keep asking. Be proactive about it. The more you ask the more you interact with the coaches the more you'll get out of it. If you dont understand a process or a movement or parts of your nutritional plan ask and challenge and question. They can teach you good things and by questioning and doing your own research you can augment the process so you reach your goal faster and more efficiently. Not only did I hit the 25 pound weight loss goals I lost closer to 30 pounds, and if that wasnt enough I also broke 6% , closer to 7%. You can do it too! Just actually try. The beauty of crossfit is functional fitness and that if you stick with it and ask questions and do it regularly you will learn the movements and will learn to recreate them and reproduce them at will, learning from some of the best trained coaches. Overall was an excellent experience. Would recommend it to others. Crossfit training is probably the best. A membership at Bowery crossfit gives you access to multiple locationa. I was always at 285 Grand Street location in the Bowery area of Manhattan. I liked it there, people were friendly, staff were nice. It was a great program and an excellent choice to do the challenge. I participated in Bowery Crossfit's Crossfit classes in summer 2018, when they were doing their Summer of Strength programming that involved more regular strength components (squat, deadlift, OHP). The coaches (I mainly had Kai, Jeff, and Ryan M.) are really friendly and encouraging. They push each person appropriately. They and my classmates made me feel good about my strengths and motivated to work hard on my weaknesses. I'm terrible at Assault bike WODs but never felt bad about finishing last as everyone cheered me on. Kai plays the perfect music for Crossfit in my opinion. It helps me push and keep going when I would usually just rest for a bit. I do think sometimes coaches let students get away with bad form during Olympic lifts (not catching low enough which can slow down progress, or catching with the back at an angle that looks dangerous to me) so wouldn't recommend pushing yourself too hard on those here. I am not a coach, but my first Crossfit box had an Olympic weightlifting-specific coach who competes at the national level, and my opinion on form comes from taking classes with him. This isn't an Olympic lifting gym, obviously, so I wouldn't dock Bowery stars for not being focused on Olympic lifting. I think Crossfit and specifically Bowery Crossfit do a great job of easing people into lifting and teaching the basics safely. I don't think you would get injured as a beginner or intermediate-level athlete here. Like, I wouldn't worry unless you're cleaning 1xbw as a woman or 1.5xbw as a man and trying to clean more. I switched to their open gym level of membership when the school year started as the Crossfit class times didn't work well with my course schedule and I also didn't fancy the return to more typical Crossfit programming without regular strength training. They have a good selection of equipment, and you can pay a bit extra for key card access to the gym outside of normal business hours. Their open gym hours are never crowded, so I've always had space for everything I've wanted to do. I dislike waiting for the squat rack at my university gym, so the open gym level of membership was well worth it for me. Ryan O. keeps everything well maintained and handled all my membership transitions and replied to my various emails smoothly and promptly. I'm now trying out another gym that's focused on powerlifting. My resting heart rate went from around 60 bpm to around 53 bpm while I was doing Bowery's Crossfit classes, and now it's back at around 60 bpm, lol. Bowery is great for conditioning and learning the basics of strength training, as it's a lovely, inclusive environment with cool people. If you're new in town, you could make friends easily here, as there are social events once in a while, and people often take the same class time. If you care about Oly enough that this review turns you off, but not enough to go to an Oly-exclusive gym, try Crossfit NYC Flatiron. Bowery is great for drop-ins as I think it's only $30, which is on the cheaper side for a Crossfit drop-in, and they're very responsive to email if you need help setting it up logistically. read more

I highly recommend WillyB Crossfit! If you are looking to challenge yourself, to be/stay healthy and to be part of a community that motivates each other to do well, this is the right gym for you! I joined WillyB Crossfit and did the 6-week challenge. My goal was to lose 6% body fat, which seemed impossible at the time of the orientation. But I made it, thanks to all the awesome people I've met in this gym! I had a very helpful and encouraging fitness/nutrition coach, Chris. If you do the challenge, they will assign you a coach that will guide you through the whole journey. Along with that, the fitness coaches I've met through the Foundations, Crossfit and HIIT classes who I'm so grateful for. They make sure you are doing the work out safely and with the right form, but also that you are pushing and challenging yourself. The athletes/students who work out in the gym are also very friendly, and there is a sense of community that you just want to keep coming back and get stronger with everybody. If I could give 3 1/2 stars instead of just 3 I definitely would. 6 weeks ago, I came in for my challenge orientation meeting with the recruiter and I was drawn in on the high interval fitness and motivation I saw from others working out. Pros: - Jeff and Maria are hands down to me the best coaches. They take their time and explain movements and truly seek progression in their "students" fitness journey. - WillyB community is very generous and do not be alarmed when a well-seasoned​ CrossFit​ gymgoer comes up and corrects you. - you will be pushed to your limit. I thought boxing at Rumble was the most vigorous​ workout I've ever done. Nope,​ this beat it. - For the 3 week check-in I lost either 3 or 4 pounds and was motivated by my Coach due to the food timeline​ he created for me that would help me get in the meals I needed. Cons: - I was on a plan to lose body fat​, I think either 5% or 6%. The number​​t of calories I was told to eat was 1400. My sister and her nutritionist at her CrossFit gym said that was not healthy and should not continue to do this program. - I had a Coach that I named with the manager and won't name here that completely, in my opinion,​ was the deciding factor in my discontinuation from this gym. He had zero patience​ for those within the 6-week​k challenge, I've witnessed this with other people who started around the time I did and after. I felt off with him during my first week of CrossFit and thought maybe it's just because I've never worked with him and should try him again.. but I definitely felt the same. There was a workout that unfortunately​ took me 10 minutes to fully understand and perfect with him and he completely lost patience. Week 5 going into 6, I had the same exercise to do and I felt confident because I was practicing this same workout outside of the gym and before I could even get up to the bar, he goes "oh no you're not doing this. You're going to partner up with another newbie and take turns". He gave me a much moderate exercise to do without even giving me a ​chance to challenge myself and perfect my previous errors. It was completely discouraging and I was turned off honestly. I completely lost motivation and gained what I had lost, so of course,​ I did not receive the $600 back; they tried to credit me by offering $50 off of my potential membership for 12 months. He even suggested raising that to $100 off and said he would reach out. This was Tuesday and it is Friday. Safe to say, I won't be returning to this gym. read more

I took the ladies 6-week challenge TWICE because of Lindsey Cormack. The first time in May 2017 and again in December 2017. If you have any insecurities surrounding lifting weights or being in a CrossFit gym, you need Lindsey in your life. She's an incredible, supportive coach. At no point did I feel intimidated or afraid of injury which at CrossFit boxes that tend to be insular and intense is no small feat. I also had Amanda, Tamir and Mateo do drop-in sessions. Welcoming group of people at Bowery, and Coach Kai is everything! I told him I wanted to get a ring muscle up and he immediately implemented a plan for me to get there, and sent me an instructional video to watch. He encourages me to add a little more weight to the barbell during WODS when he sees that I can take it, and through that I find that many times I have more in me than I think; he sees more in us than we see in ourselves! Crossfit can be daunting and is definitely not for those who fill themselves with negativity or a bunch of "I cannot's"... however, with the right coaches and people, you will find that anything is possible with some hard work and commitment! I found BCF about a year ago when I needed a big change. I was tired of feeling tired all the time and I knew I needed do do something different. I was unhappy with my level of fitness and nothing I tried could keep my attention or give me the results I wanted. Fast forward over a year later and not only have I fallen in love with crossfit (now I even work out while on vacation), but I especially love this gym and all the crazy sweaty people who trek from all over NYC to work out here. This place has seriously changed who I am and I am so thankful for it! They have super knowledgeable coaches who support and push you to do your best. The classes are set up so that if you wish to go everyday, your WOD is different and never is boring. You also have awesome people who make you look forward to working out. If you are a morning person, there are plenty of morning sessions for you to get a work out in before work or during the day. Also, if you're an evening person, there are also ample times for you to attend a session at night. There is no excuse not to work out because there are many classes to fit your schedule! The membership prices are reasonable and in my opinion, worth every penny. If you are new to the area or crossfit they have free trials during the week for new comers to see if this is the place for you. I told my friend about how much I love it here and he signed up for a membership after one trial! You can also drop in if you are a regular crossfitter and want to try some place new. I am so happy I signed up and now I even feel weird if I miss my normal gym day. read more

I had wanted to join a crossfit gym for years, but was always a bit intimidated. I thought the learning curve would be steep, plus it was expensive, and the culture is so intense! But when I saw the 6-week challenge at Bowery Crossfit, I thought to myself, it is now or never and signed up. I am so glad I did! It's been a month since the challenge ended and I am still going 3 times a week. The coaches as BCF are incredible. They are extremely attentive, encouraging, and accomplished. They will push you, but know how to push you to your personal best, rather than holding you to a standard that doesn't make sense for you. They know that just like any sport, crossfit takes "consistency, practice & patience" as one of them said to me yesterday. I leave feeling exhausted, but also like a million bucks and have seen serious results. Plus they are truly kind--yesterday, when I forgot my shorts, one of them gave me the shorts off his own butt (Mateo) so I wouldn't have to miss my workout! Holy whaaaaat. I had an awesome experience in the ladies 6-week challenge from late May through June 2017. Lindsey was/is an excellent and knowledgeable coach, which is (to me) the most important thing when starting Crossfit training. What's more is that she is incredibly supportive and just an overall nice, fun(!) person. Thanks to both the small class size and her deep understanding of technique, she really took her time with each of us on a variety of lifts to make sure we were lifting safely as maximizing efficiency. The workouts were at an appropriate level for both complete beginners and intermediate athletes new to Crossfit, as every workout is scaleable, and Lindsey was great at walking us through the workouts and our scaling options. The gym itself is small but mighty, with all the equipment you'd expect in a Crossfit box in NYC. They are a drop-off point for Kettlebell Kitchen, a great, healthy meal delivery service, and also have a few kinds of energy bars and drinks available. And the bathrooms and showers are all equipped with some pretty nice toiletries--everything you need to get ready for work or a post workout date. There is a really nice vibe at this box. Folks are friendly and encouraging. They have a great sense of camaraderie, both in and out of the gym. I was always scared to join a cross fit gym since i never did any kind of workout, but now that i joined, i love it and am slightly addicted to it in a good way. I learned how to treat and work with my body. The workouts are great and challenging. I always leave feeling like I've accomplished so much that day already. I was about to send this as a private thank you note to the coaches but I figured, why not publicly share how awesome this gym is! This morning, I completed the 6-week challenge, and I am amazed at how far I've come in that short amount of time. Never did I ever think I would even step foot into a CrossFit gym, much less enjoy it. I was the quintessential skinny fat girl that you could easily knock over with your pinky finger, and I wanted to change that coming in to the challenge. I didn't want to care about a specific goal weight; I just wanted to be stronger. Thanks to the amazing coaches Lindsey and Amanda, I have learned to push out of my comfort zone (in correct form, of course) and I am so excited to continue on this journey. I don't want this to be some phase that I start and then quit, but after hearing about everyone else's experiences at other CrossFit gyms and then experiencing it for myself, I am looking forward to getting even stronger and continually pushing to be a better version of myself. I've been a member of Bowery CrossFit for about a year now, and the physical gains I've experienced have been tremendous: heavier deadlifts, squats, cleans, jerks, and better form/quality of movement. I'm feeling and seeing the results, and I'm more confident as the weeks and months pass. I'm an adaptive athlete. I have cerebral palsy. I had spinal surgery 11 years ago that helped address a lot of my physical limitations. But going through with that decision meant realizing I had to start from zero. I had to learn how to walk again. To see how far I've come in that time-- the last 5 or so years involving CrossFit in some way-- kind of blows my mind. Joining Bowery CrossFit was my way of recommitting myself to getting even better... and it's been an awesome ride. I know that I personally need encouragement, support, and accountability to reach my fitness goals, and the coaching staff at Bowery is amazing: patient, friendly, knowledgable. They frequently push me a bit beyond my comfort zone, in order to show me what's possible if I try a little harder. The community as a whole is awesome, too. Fellow athletes of all stripes and abilities, all cheering each other on. It's a great atmosphere. So... if you're on the fence about Bowery, I suggest checking out a class. I'll admit, I was super skeptical when first hearing of the 6 week challenge! I thought it was a scam but when I walked into the gym for the first time I could feel the energy & intensity in the room and you can't fake that. Hitting your goal is not impossible, even for people who are fit! But, it IS hard, and it DOES require effort-- 110% of it! The WillyB family, yes just 6 weeks later and i feel comfortable calling them family, are there to motivate you, guide you, and help you through every up and down of the challenge. This gym is one of my favorite parts about moving to New York. When I moved from San Francisco I was worried I wouldn't find a community and group of coaches that equaled my first gym in feel, expertise and attention to safe, good form. Glad to say I found that here at Bowery. The physical results have been fast and continue to improve which is a testament to the programming and also that the staff and membership who make coming everyday easy. I did my 6 week challenge at the new Tribeca location. I've had some extra weight that I've been trying to lose and have tried a variety of exercise routines. When I saw the 6 week challenge and they were offering it for free, I thought, why not? I went into the gym and met with Abbee (who is awesome!), and she explained the program to me and that I'd get the challenge free if I met a goal set for me. My goal was set to lose 6% body fat, and, although I was nervous, I decided to go for it. I was ready to be skeptical, but every step of the way, the staff at the gym was so helpful. They gave me my diet goals as well (which are so important!), and I was on my way. I ended up doing a lot of classes with Daniel in Tribeca (who is also very awesome!), and he was always very patient with me and took the time to correct my form and make sure if a movement was too hard for me, I had a modification so I can get through the workout. I also happened to be sick during my challenge and missed a full week of workouts, and I was just ready to give it my all the rest of the way. But, when Abbee found out, without hesitation, she extended my challenge one week. I appreciated that so much! In the end, I made my goal of 6% and then some. If you stick to the plan they lay out, it will work. And I started and ended my journey with Abbee, and she was great, as were all the trainers and staff I encountered at the gym. I would recommend this program to anyone looking to gain muscle and lose body fat. It works! read more

TLDR: did 6 week challenge, loved it, bought a 10 class pack, tried to cancel, got trapped/scammed into an auto-renewal of another 10 class pack, horrible experience trying to get my money back, still getting the stupid mass text messages months later. Only saving grace is the instructors are amazing. Front desk nope. I originally came to WillyB CrossFit to try a new workout and see what kind of changes would come of that. I did their 6 week challenge, didn't lose the goal weight so I didn't get my money back. However, that's NOT why this review is so bad. Initially I really loved CrossFit and was recommending it to everyone. I could see the progress and that I was getting stronger and I was all for that. Also let me say that if you do meet the 6 week challenge goal they do give you your money back (saw some girl get a check for the challenge money back) however they do ask you to write a good review for them. Probably to offset their actual horrible reviews (like the one I'm writing woohoo!) since they have horrible service. Before starting the regular unlimited monthly memberships, I decided to get a 10 class pack because I was going to do a lot of traveling and wouldn't get the full usage out of the unlimited monthly membership until a few months later. So I go to the front desk and I ask them to cancel the auto-renewal of the 10 class pack because I wanted to do a 6 month unlimited membership instead. They confirmed at the front desk that I was good to go and it was not going to auto-renew. I eventually want to cancel the 6 month membership because I wanted to try other workouts/studios. I go to cancel the upcoming 6 month membership with Chris at the front desk and he says everything is cancelled and they're sad to see us go. Literally THAT NIGHT I get charged for an auto-renewal of my 10 class pack which is like $300 RIGHT AFTER I told them I was cancelling everything and going to try new things. So I'm like okay let's not freak out, must be a mistake let me try to reach out to them. So I email them and they're like "you need to send an email to cancel, policy's strict but you have 6 months to use your new 10 class pack". I don't know how me cancelling several times in person, reaching out to you to be like I don't want this 10 class pack I want my money back, can conjure up "enjoy your new 10 class pack" HOW STUPID CAN YOU BE. I DID NOT WANT IT THEN AND I DO NOT WANT IT NOW. Whatever, after several sassy emails from them I was like this and they are stupid. I'll just reach out to my credit card company and get this refunded since I didn't approve of this purchase. Fast forward a month or two, my credit is in my account I'm still raging from WillyB CrossFit but I'm like honestly it's not worth my time anymore. I got my money back. Then fast forward to today. Yesterday I got one of their mass messages and I was like let me respond with my experience and then ask them to take me off the mass message list I'm literally never coming back after you guys tried to trap me into another membership. They don't confirm that I'm taken off the list and say that I still have an active membership and I'm like I can only face palm so hard. I wasn't going to write this review until I got the message yesterday and they didn't confirm that I'm off the list. I swear to god if I get another message from them... The reason this review got 2 stars instead of the negative stars I wish I could post is because I think some of the instructors are really amazing and I didn't want to ignore that. Pablo, Kai, Jeff and Maria are really wonderful instructors that take the time to make sure your form is correct and help you scale up or down all the movements in addition to encouraging you to push yourself. When I initially cancelled, I was really considering coming back in the future but after how the front desk/administration handled me trying to cancel my membership I will never come back and anyone who asks how's CrossFit going will get an earful about how they should 1000% avoid WillyB. I'm frustrated with Chris and Abbee for either not knowing the cancellation policies while working the front desk or playing stupid and getting me charged for another 10 class pack leading to this horrible review. LEARN FROM MY MISTAKES: just do NOT even come here, it might be all fun and games and soreness for a while but the moment you try to cancel it'll just be hell. And if you do decide to come despite this review, book everything with a credit card and email them way in advance of when you want to cancel so you have some evidence you tried to cancel so they're forced to give you your money back instead of you going to your credit card company explaining how some idiots are trying to trap you for your money. read more

I love how positive everyone is! Not only the coaches but the athletes in other classes. I completed the six week challenge. It took A LOT of work, but I couldn't have done it without the personal attention they were willing and able to give. Everyone seems to really want to see each other do their personal best. So much focus is put into learning form first and foremost which was really important to me. I'm being pushed but never past my limits. I never thought I'd be going to the gym 4-5 times a week and getting excited about it. I'm so goal oriented, doing it on my own was NOT working. I'm lifting way heavier than I ever thought I could and feeling better physically and mentally than I have in years. read more

Bowery is the best! Been coming here for five months now and their approachable vibe is unmatched. Unlike any gym I've ever been to--other members introduce themselves, cheer you on, and miss you when you don't show up for class. The coaches are skilled, well rounded, smart, caring, fun and pay attention to detail. They guide you in the direction for success. WillyB Crossfit is one of the best fitness experience I have ever had. I tried the 6 week challenge just to get out of my running and cardio routine, but these guys went beyond my expectations. I lost 9 pounds and 6.2% body fat. but that's not all. I can't believe how my physical human potential increased during that short period of time. Before trying Crosfit I used to run. But during and after this challenge I started noticing some changes. I got faster at running. I decrease my 1.5 mile time 4 seconds, which meant a lot for me. Before, I wasn't able to sprint as many times as I wanted. But it is easier for me to do it. I also feel stronger, and I learned that it is because my SMM (skeletal muscle mass) increased and my body fat decrease, thanks to the weightlifting workouts. I didn't know these things before, but some of the trainers teach us how the human dynamics really works, and also tough us how to get the best of ourselves. The trainers are professional and very passioned about their jobs. Every class is well prepared, and they have valuable knowledge about human bodies. They also are very motivational and enthusiastic. They won't leave you behind and will make sure you have a good time working out. I also liked that this gym has many locations, and they are organize and well equipped with diverse equipment. Some of the locations have showers and they provide you with everything needed to be nice and clean after a sweaty work out. And since they have different locations they have great hours from very in the morning till late night. The people you work out with is nice too. From them I learned that we need each other to keep motivated, and to get the very best of ourselves. I am grateful with all the WillyB Crossfit team, their help and support! However, those involved went to great lengths to get things straightened out in a sincere and meaningful way and went, at times, beyond the call of duty in doing so. I never thought that CrossFit would be for me. I grew up dancing classical ballet, and was always pretty fit. After sustaining a pretty serious injury, however, I became pretty inactive for months, and then months turned into a few years. I tried doing a few Soul cycle classes, as well as going to a regular gym, but all of that felt like *work*, and I never looked forward to going. I heard about Bowery CrossFit and decided to bite the bullet despite being intimidated, and try a class. Their introductory class was extremely informative, and assuaged any fears I had of not understanding the "lingo". I had this idea in my head that coming from a ballet background and appreciating a "ballet body", i shouldn't be lifting weights, as i'd get bulky. I've since learned that not only is this false, but the ladies in this gym have some of the nicest looking bodies I've seen yet! The coach in my first class was funny and welcoming, and we went around and did introductions with the members of the class before starting any workouts. They keep the classes small and intimate which is really nice because you get personalized attention in each class. The workout itself was grueling, but fun! I felt like every dollar spent was put to good use- I was sore for days afterwards! Everyone in the gym is so supportive and encouraging, and hearing folks cheer you on as you are working out is incredibly inspiring and makes you push that little bit further, to really get the most out of each workout. Most of all, the sense of community is above and beyond anything I could have expected, and i've gained some great new friendships in the process. Needless to say, I was hooked since that first day and have been attending ever since. Even if you are unsure whether CrossFit is right for you, but you feel like your workout game needs a refresh, I HIGHLY recommend checking out Bowery CrossFit. I'm a lifer for sure! read more
