When you doom scroll, you come across many different places that are true hidden gems. Door To Nowhere, or Heigold House, is definitely an oddity and salute to the past. Some housekeeping, you know, things to know about this place. BE CAREFUL. This sits on a roundabout island with steady traffic. Be mindful to the traffic flow and businesses nearby (I parked at a nearby business off the road and walked over here). Be kind to the natural beauty that surrounds this. And most of all, be respectful. As I said, this sits on a roundabout with flowerbeds surrounding it. Whether you are facing front, as in looking at the front of the façade, or looking from the rear, please stay on the sidewalks provided. Take in the informational plaques as well. Built by Christian H Heigold, a successful stonecutter. Majority of the house was completed in 1853. Heigold was a master at stonecutting and completed the home with busts of Presidents George Washington and James Buchanan. Heigold was also a staunch opponent of the 'Know Nothing Party,' and anti-immigration political party and I would like to think that he built his house with all the busts was a big middle finger to those that were anti-immigration. This façade sat in what was known as the The Point neighborhood, which was favored by those that moved to the city from the New Orleans area. Once Louisville diverted the Beargrass Creek away from downtown, this place started to flood annually. Shifting people away from the neighborhood and then the Great Flood of 1937 happened. Slowly the city started buying houses and demolishing them. Ultimately using the land as a dump site. Then this façade was listed on the National Registry of Historical Places. Remained in that area which became Thruston Park. That is until a developer bought the land adjacent to this and build condos. They moved this massive beast, 70,000-pounds, across River Road to where it sits today.

This location shares a spot with two other cool sights in the NoCo story time attraction and the NoCo wildflowers murals that surround the tower. Right across the street is "the depot" and "Picasso Pointe" which are very cool places to take in vibrant art and relax or let the kids run wild. Overall extremely cool place. The whole NoCo area I'm excited for to see where it goes and how it grows. I've definitely found a new spot to take my kids and spend a day at.

It's super close and easily walkable from the Indiana side of the bridge. If you're looking for something really interesting to check out, this spot definitely checks the box!

Float like a butterfly and sting like a bee. The mural consist of a pair of boxing gloves with its angel halo (I assume created shortly after ali passing) and the left wing being a butterfly wing and the right wing being a bee wing. Very cool and unique. While the mural never mentions Ali name or the phrase or is obvious what the message is by the creative use of symbolism. Overall a great piece and while it's not very large and kinda hard to spot on the side of a building it may be one of my new favorite pieces because of the creativity.

Public art is one of my favorite things in the world. Wherever I travel, I look for murals and…read moregraffiti, wheatpasted posters on the sides of buildings, signs tacked up to telephone poles. The need to create is very wholesome and pure, and I love that people do it in public spaces for other people to enjoy for free. When I visited Jeffersonville a few months ago, I came across this area that had a lot of public art everywhere -- The Depot at NoCo. The temperature outside was about 17 degrees, but I got out of my car and looked at the art and took photos until my fingers were freezing. This area has many colorful, beautiful murals, a story walk, and space to congregate. There were zero people around when I was there, which makes sense because it was the winter and the temperature was below freezing. But I imagine that in the warmer months, this place is hoppin'.

Very wide and spacious area that they have painted up and gotten creative with. They have taken old storage containers and fixed up and created places to climb on and play or hang out. Fit in perfectly with the bright and vibrant arts that surround it in the NoCo district. Entrances can be found in the rear from the alley and this is located directly across the street from another awesome open play space called Picasso pointe. One of my favorite things about Thai place is the really cool moon mural they have located on the rear wall near the entrances. With the open space and the all the storage containers to climb it provided ample of fun opportunities when I brought my daughters, nephews and niece here to play. They got a giant game of freeze tag going and had a blast. I did some research at the time on what I'd to come for the depot and some of the shipping containers will actually become retail space for local artists and the big are in the center will become a full service bar area. So This space has unlimited potential and I think will be become super trendy and popular. Overall extremely cool place. The whole NoCo area is exciting and so creative and fun for adults and kids. Any art lover owes it to themselves to visit This little strip of sights. I've definetly found a new spot to take my kids and spend a day or an afternoon.

Painted on the wall of the Rabbit Hole Distillery that overlooks the parking lot is a brightly…read morecolored mural depicting six scenes from Alice in Wonderland (or if one wants to be technically correct, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland). The six scenes are: the hookah smoking caterpillar; Alice holding her cat, with the Cheshire Cat in the background; the Queen of Hearts' frog servants; the Queen of Hearts; the Mad Hatter; and the White Rabbit. Alice in wonderland public art mural located on the side of the rabbit hole distillery in the Nulu…read moreneighborhood of Lousiville Kentucky. Nulu is stocked full of awesome and beautiful public art works. Thai Alice and wonderland rendering has added to that. So detailed, specific and well done. Everytime I walk by it I notice a detail that I haven't before. Overall a beautiful and wonderfully done piece of public art. I can see it becoming a favorite of many inside the city.

Located right next door to the patio lr a popular Mexican food eatery in that portion of town this mural gets lots of photos and serves as a backdrop for fun times and memories for others. Overall pretty basic but very well done and fun public art mural. Murals or art with anything wings (butterfly, angel, bird) always make for fun photo ups of standing in between the wings and pretending they are yours. So that happens a lot with this mural naturally.

A bunch of twisted piping that at the beginning of it says the words "Louisville". I'm not sure the purpose or what it represents and after the words Lousiville it's kinda a mess and hard to determine what the design is. Overall it's still a unique piece to the city and kinda cool. In a weird spot so I'm not sure how much exposure it gets as the one way street people usually have merged on the expressway before hitting the underpass.

Intended to draw more visitors to this part of Louisville, this orange colored artwork is a series of tubes and lines. Literally, a knot that stretches about 165 feet. This has to be the smallest park in the world just 5 percent of an acre in size. I drove around…read moreand around looking for it and thought my GPS was messing up. Turns out it is in this shopping center between two building. According to its website this is a pocket park that a small stage to expose local acoustic musicians. The day I was there it had a full 5 piece band with several kinds of instruments. It has large music theme art work on the sides of businesses, a small garden with above head lights. Most people stood in the back area standing up from the shade from one business. It is too small for my liking but it is unique.

Me and my family spotted this mural by pure coincidence when driving around the Shelby park area and one of my daughter said "is that Patrick from spongebob". So naturally we had to pull over and take some photos. Overall very cool piece that will be enormously popular with the youth and probably even the millennials he grew up on the popular show spongebob. I know my kids loved it.
