Once you text someone sends a message asking if you are established or new? I texted back "new". They text back "sorry we aren't taking new clients". People who go to veterinarian school should love animals and be committed to making sure they do everything in their power as managers of the care of God's animal fur/feather and other animal babies. So two weeks ago, my one year old English Mastiff, Roscoe, was bit by something in the yard, spider, snake, or wasp idk. Only one puncture and his paw is infected and swollen. First vet visit: they did not test him, played the guessing game, gave him antibiotics and cream **roscoe stops eating, poops water, his paw doesn't improve over the week** 2nd vet visit: takes him off of the antibiotics, considers it to be cancer, blames his food for the diarrhea, ask me "how they were supposed to know that the medication would have a negative reaction?" Now a week after I paid for blood work, called them 4 times, they finally call me and say they ran a test on Roscoe's paw and the results shows that he has an infection but nothing else. Like we didn't already know that he had an infection. It's taking everything in me to be cool about it. They're trying to kill our fur baby's with their lousy way of practicing. They do not care about your animals!! It the vets favorite line is, "oh it could be cancer" after I explained to her several times that I watched him playing in the yard when he was barking at something in the bushes and he jumped back and yelped, shortly after his paw swelled.. how is that anyway related to cancer?!? When you pull up to drop your animal off, you call to tell the you are there, expect to wait on your car for 25+ minutes. The customer service is awful, my dog was supposed to have follow up appointments but they never told us until it was too late. Once they have your money they could care less about you. Very bad experience, and I hadn't even got as far as taking my puggie in yet. Called to schedule an appointment, after instructed to by one of the Vet's in the office, was told it would be an emergency appointment, meaning $125 just to walk in the door, even though it was during regular business hours, I said ok no problem. This was on Tuesday, by Wednesday, the day of the appointment my lil puggie was feeling better so I thought I would save the $125 and schedule her for a later appointment, so I called right away Wednesday morning. I was told at that point I can cancel my appointment but would be charged $55 for not giving them 24hr notice. which was impossible since I had made it less than 24hr's ago... Anyway not the point, I was never told at any point that there was a cancelation fee. The manager called me Wednesday evening to basically call me a lair saying that her staff have questions cards that they read to the customers. I said no ma'am they did not follow protocol regardless what you think. She did not give 2 shits, she was very unprofessional the entire time and refused to take the fee for nothing other than extortion from my account. It will be a cold day in hell before , #1 I pay it, and #2 I step foot in that office. read more

I have been a client at dogwood vet for almost five years now and have never been soo upset with the care given by their staff. I took my 14 year old lab in for a bite that had become swollen. Not only did they not even help me carry in my 80lb lethargic dog, they didn't even take a good look at the bite. They simply charged me over $200, gave me antibiotics, and told me to keep it wrapped. I sent pictures after it lysed and opened up only to be told that they were busy and would call when they "had time to look at it." I fought with Dogwood for a few days and was then given a solution to clean it with and pack it with. (Mind you by this point it had opened up enough that I could see bone !) They then had me come in and pour over $200 more for things to pack and clean the wound with. It was long before it opened up on the inside of his arm as well. (We were told that this was OUR FAULT even though we simply did as we were told !) The wound has since then healed after well over a month. Now however I called about my dog having "local seizures/mini seizures" and apparently that's not an emergency. We were given a 9:30 appointment and told we could either take that or leave him there with them tomorrow after we drop off a $250 deposit. WORST VET EVER !!!!!! IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A VET FOR YOUR LOVED ONE........STAY AWAY !!!!!!! You will be charged an arm and a leg for the worst care you and your pet will ever experience ! I used to take my dogs here all the time, but now, I won't even consider it after the last few visits I've had, and also after hearing several horror stories. The last couple of times we've boarded them, one has come back throwing up-- each time. Perfectly fine before being boarded, but sick after. They used to have a fantastic groomer, but the one they have now SUCKS. Last time I took my long, thick furred dog there, she didn't even bother to trim around her ears, which have to be trimmed and cleaned at every grooming, otherwise they get nasty and develop a buildup. Her nails were also messed up and not trimmed correctly. During the very last visit I will ever have there, my other dog was seen by the older male vet. He had terrible bedside manner and seemed to be apathetic about helping my dog. His best advise for the hotspots on her legs were to either put a cone on her or BANDAGE the areas, which would make it worse!!! Mind you, this is also after having to remind the office several times beforehand to check her over. Even while being seen by this person, I had to remind him to do things. If you don't seem to care and can't even be bothered to be thorough, why are you even doing this? You're in the wrong career field, buddy. I had an overall bad feeling about him. There is one receptionist with blonde hair who always seems to have an attitude. She acts like she doesn't want to be there. Another case of why are they even there if they don't like it? Apparently, starting January 1st, they also won't accept checks (which is ok, because I won't go to them anymore.) After my dog started having tender ears, I called to schedule an appointment. We were told that to drop her off, we would have to pay $250... For looking over her ears! We had been a customer for a few years, and that is the first we ever heard of them charging that much money for a drop off. In fact, prior to that, we never received a drop off charge. We took her to Southside Animal Hospital as a new patient, we were immediately seen even when they were busy, and we saw both a nurse and a vet-- they have 4 excellent vets on duty. What Dogwood couldn't do all the times we asked, Southside did in as little as 1 short visit. Found out my dog had a yeast infection after they did a simple ear swab, and they fixed her up. They also treated her as if she really were my baby. If you ask around, there are other people who have bad experiences with Dogwood, and some of them are worse than my own experience!! It really makes me wish I could have been a fly on the wall to see how my babies were really being treated. read more

New to area, needed a vet, I went to Dogwood because it was close, I had a few concerns from these reviews.. But realized they were old reviews. So I gave them a chance. Staff was all very friendly and nice, they listened to my questions and concerns and made me feel comfortable and more importantly made my Dogs and kitties feel comfortable. I have 3 dogs and 2 cats, and each animal is rememebered when I come in, they ask about the others and go out of their way. An example of this was the other day, when it was a little chilly in the office, I noticed another older dog being taken in for exam and they had a blanket on the floor for the dogs comfort. It's little things like this makes me happy to take my animals here. Normally I only am at the vet for normal yearly checkups. But have taken in my pups in when issues or concerns, and have always been able to get a quick appointment and with little to no wait when I get there... Maybe it's under new management? Maybe they read these reviews and fixed the issues.. I can't say, I can only give my honest and MORE Recent expereince here.. My 8mo puppy ate a toad one morning which can be very poisonous. I called them and they said sorry nothing we can do were booked for today. If he starts foaming at the mouth you can take him to Pensacola emergency care. The problem is you only have 30 min to teat this before it becomes fatal and Pensacola is over an hr away. They could care less and offered me no solution. It was then I decided that I needed to find a new vet. read more

This place you don't get to go in with your pets. The staff isn't very helpful. They quoted one price on the phone, then present you a bill 5 time's over the quote. They charge a fee for CPR ( non refundable) in case you're animal stop's breathing while THEY are working on your pet. Instead of doing the proper and moral thing. They will let your pet die if you don't pay this fee. My parents took thier dog here to get spayed. She came home with dried blood ALL over her belly. Be careful going here. I will NEVER go back. Even if they are the cheapest vet in town. You don't ever see the vet. Just staff. Bad place. read more

I usually take my dogs to board somewhere else but we had a last minute trip. If you are not their client you must have your animals history faxed to them and sign a document that says if they need any shots or flea preventative it will be given to them or they can't board there. With that being said, it was double the price of my vet to board my animals (had to pay $250 for 4 nights @ dogwood acres) and my one dog came home and was throwing up for a week. I will make sure to next time call my vet sooner or look elsewhere as I was not happy with the price and the sickness of my dog after pick up. read more

We kenneled our french bulldog for 8 nights. He received the bortedella (sp) upon arrival there. He contracted kennel cough while there. I called them and they prescribed antibiotics. When I went to pick them up, they expected me to foot the bill. He acquired the illness in their care, I believe they should cover the cost of the antibiotics. It's bad business. If he were a human and received an infection in a hospital, the hospital is responsible for the cost of care for that infection. They refused to compromise or reason with me and the vet refused to even come out and speak to me. The office manager couldn't go against their policy and that's understandable but the vet should take care of her patients. read more

Been going to this clinic for many years. I've taken my horses and dogs in for routine care and for emergency care. I've always been treated respectfully and promptly. This facility is clean and well run. The employees are knowledgeable and helpful always ready to answer my questions or find the answer for me. Always easy to get an appointment within 1-3 days for routine care and promptly for emergency. Prices are fair and reasonable. Love the location and large property for maneuvering large horse trailers. read more

The disrespect and unprofessionalism is at an all time high. We adopted a pup from someone who works through them and within the adoption agreement he is to be fixed and chipped, two procedures that are done together. When we got him fixed they claimed they micro-chipped him, which they never did. They refused to give us his rabies tag, which we paid for. Also, when we inquired about his paperwork and shot records they assured us they would send them and the rabies tag through the mail, which we have never received, come to find out weeks later they won't send his rabies tag through the mail, which we weren't told until we called in to see why we hadn't received them. They have also hung up the phone on us several times when trying to work with them on getting information for his shots and micro-chip. We just took our pup to a new vet which is much closer to us, and they confirmed our dog was never microchipped. We also found out, via the photo of his paperwork that we were sent, that the rabies shot he was given expired 2 months before it was even administered! We have called many times to resolve these issues and have been told we would get a call back and never have received a call back. And honestly all we want to make sure is that our dog has been given a proper vaccine and is protected against rabies! But we have been unable to get a straight answer. When we brought this matter up, we were sent a new rabies tag that states our pup was vaccinated a few days ago.. which is false information because he hasn't been to that vet in several months! I wouldnt recommend this vet office to my worst enemy. No pet or pet owner deserves this nonsense. read more

This place is AWFUL! They told me it was $15.00/day and I needed to board my pet for 10 days... my bill was over $400.00 when i picked her up today. They said it was because they had to give her medicine every day... it's a treat for hips and joints... not shots or anything. So that was $50.00. The exam was 40 something dollars which they never said anything to me about. The shots she had to get equaled up to about $100.00 and I was fine with that. They charged me $50.00 to refill my hip and joint meds (which they did not tell me) And charged me $36.00 to give her ointment for an ear infection (which they never called me about). I have no idea where the other $100.00 comes in but I'll look when i get the receipt. Either way... they give you the small price and jack everything else up when your pet is staying there so that you can't do anything about it except pay. What's the other option??? Leave the dog there??? Seriously they are awful and should not be allowed to do that. I will never go there for anything ever and I suggest no one else does either. They could care less about your pet and only care about their pockets. read more

This has got to be a big joke!!!! So basically I called today to see if I can get my dog seen by the doctor on urgent basis because something was wrong with her foot. And she couldnt walk on it. Anyhow I called and the girl at the front said that today was the doctor's surgery day but I could go ahead and drop my dog off and make a $250 deposit for the care that we give her which I was okay with due to the circumstances of them getting.me in on a last minute basis. So when I got in I wasn't too impressed with the front office staff they were far from friendly and welcoming. And it seems like the girls had no clue what they were doing they handed me some paperwork on the counter and told me I could stand there and fill it out no clipboard know anything but I did. Half of the time the things that they were telling me seems like they had no clue what they were talking about they were almost no and had to ask each other what to do and what was going on. I wasn't sure about leaving my dogs here but my neighbor has referred me so I was confident that this will be right place to take my dog. Boy was i WRONG!!!! so basically I dropped her off and never got a call back from them they told me I had to call them back which I never heard it at the doctors office I've always gotten a courtesy call . And then I called at 2 o'clock like they told me to and I got disconnected about 4 to 5 times nobody even tried returning my call. After the 6th call I finally reach someone who knew that my dog was ready. But then I asked what was going with my dog's foot in her injury and they told me the doctor hasn't even looked at her she had to leave in an emergency so basically my dog SAT there all day no she got done with x-rays I don't know what the point of getting her in on the basis if you weren't going to do anything for her and I still paid $195 has anybody ever heard of a veterinary clinic doing this? I think that this is something I need to take up with the city or the county on how this place is running a clinic I refuse to accept this type of care for my dog or for anybody's dog I recommend that nobody ever goes to this clinic again the care here is horrible and my dog was frightened more than I've ever seen her in my life. read more

I took my doberman in for a routine check up for her initial shots and to get a quote on cropping her ears and tail as well as spaying. They gave me a quote for the three procedures and I signed it. Since I had to work the day of the procedure, my boyfriend dropped my puppy off and they gave him a NEW quote with several things added. They added the rabies vacc, several other shots, and dewclaw removal. This added 200+ to the bill!!my boyfriend thought it was papers to drop her off so he initialled it. When I got home later that night I was pissed. I did not want her dewclaws cut off or any extra shots. Just getting the three original procedures was enough for her all at once. Of course I called and said not to cut her toes off but they had already done everything else and charged me for it. I told told them I did not sign for the extra stuff and they said well your boyfriend signed so it was official so I said what was the point of having me sign the first quote if they could change whatever they wanted and let just anybody sign for me? I said she is MY dog. Not my boyfriends. I said she is registered under MY name. They refunded me for the 200$ for the dew claws but since they already injected her with every shot they could think of, they couldn't refund that for me.what was originally a $700 bill turned into a $1k bill. Nobody said they were sorry, it was very cut dry, seemed routine to them. They tried adding extra procedures to get more money out of me.... plain and simple. Oh and my dog starts shaking as soon as we pull up to the parking lot. Lol just thought I'd add that. Jab jab alsoooooo as my dogs ears where healing, I would take her in for rewrapping and twice I picked her up when the wrapping was Soo tight around her neck that she was gagging. When she looked down it would get tighter, and her swallowing made a loud sound so I had to cut it and extend tape to give her throat some room. After the first time this happened I called and told them... Then before the second time I told them again and asked them to not make it so tight that she couldn't look down without gagging.... and they did it again anyway. They blamed on how fast she was growing.....it was the same day. Excuses. Then they wrapped it so tight around the ear that her ear was cold when I took it off. I had to take it off because part of it was cutting into her skin making her bleed. I wonder if it was cutting off circulation?! read more

They treat the animals with care and keep you informed all through the procedures. I see 1 good review and im not a happy customer to say the least. My husband and I were leaving town on 30th Dec. I called and spoke to Hailey, it was a kitty I rescued and didn't want to leave him at home alone with my female..So I told her about him. She said he needed his shot series and I agreed to the $83 ..I then ask about the boarding fees for him and she said $15 a night. I knew we would be gone thru sat but be back before they closed at noon. Because of all the bad weather we were late getting back on Sat .. No problem. I was at door first thing this morning and the girl let me in. A gentlemen brought my kitty up and he was very thin. I wasn't happy about that at all but I said nothing. I told her I owed for sat night boarding and Sunday. She said I owed her 45more dollars and something. I threw a fit and said I was getting ripped off because we paid our entire balance up front 143.00 They charged for Vetra which was quoted in the initial amount of 83dollars.. Please please. if you get a price and pay for your pet vaccines up front get a paid in full receipt, I did and it did me no good.. RIPOFF PLACE AND TO BOOT MY KITTY WASNT FED PROPERLY OR HARDLY IF AT ALL.. Weve been home since 830 am and he is just now settling down and eating like a horse.. UGH!! RILEY YOU NEED TO GET A BETTER RECEPTIONIST.. THe other Ok lady ill call her to be decent even had the gall to say well you weren't charged enough anyway.. We gave you military and it still should have been more.. I said we are military and had you quoted honest prices and I already paid in full and now you want to add flea meds which I already gave then I would have boarded here anyway.. Our pets have been going to Dogwoods for the last 8 years and we have never had any bad exsperiences at all. the staff are always curtious and polite.we actually just lost our beagle due to a snake bite last week and we're having him cremated and today we received a card from them with his paw print and their condolences signed by all the staff. and I have used other local vets in the past that could care less let alone make a house call.I will continue to use Dr.Riley and her staff.She has been a great vet.I understand when it comes to our furry family they are just part of our family and we want the best care for them as well. read more

I recently took my dog there on a Saturday (made an appointment) at 10:45, and didn't get seen until after 11:30. The girls at the counter never said they were behind, so when I asked at checkout (which was now 12:00) if they were behind they told me they were indeed behind schedule. I told them it would've been nice to have been told that at check in, I would've waited outside or gone somewhere. Then, Hailey, the one receptionist, interrupted and said "that's what comes with a Saturday appointment" in the most unprofessional tone. I have never EVER waited more than 5-10 minutes to be seen, on a Saturday at that. They also almost rung me up for 2 medications when I only had one, and when I asked if they could do anything for my wait, THAT is when the girl found that mistake. So apparently I got to pay less because I was only buying one medication rather than two......I will be changing vets when my dog is due for his next appointment.
