We're spending the week in Key West and making a point of visiting as many coffee shops as possible. When we walked to Doing Work Coffee, we were initially a bit confused and weren't sure we were in the right place. That's understandable, since it shares space with Wicked Lick Ice Cream. Fortunately, the owner noticed our confusion and warmly invited us in. Food: It wasn't listed on the menu, but they were happy to make me a London Fog tea latte. My son ordered a white chocolate latte. Both drinks were good. Personally, I prefer coffee served in a mug, and they only use paper cups, which took away a bit from the experience. They don't offer much in the way of baked goods, but they did have butterscotch scones. The scone was slightly too sweet for my taste, but the texture was excellent. They heated it for us, which made it even more enjoyable. Service: The service was exceptionally friendly. We felt genuinely welcomed, and the owner took the time to have a conversation with us. After hearing his story and seeing his commitment and work ethic firsthand, I found myself rooting for his success. Atmosphere: Since they share space with the ice cream shop, the environment isn't fully coffee-centric. Coffee is the focus earlier in the day, with ice cream taking over later. There is limited seating, and for me, part of the coffee shop experience is slowing down, drinking from a proper mug, and enjoying a calm, dedicated café environment. I'm not sure what their long-term plans are, but I hope they eventually move into their own space. They clearly care about what they're doing, and it would be great to see them grow into a full coffee shop experience. Best of luck to them. read more

We came here based on the ratings - had a little bit of a hard time finding it as it is located in an ice cream store. Once inside we learned the owner roasts all his beans, organic and all the products are environmentally friendly. The coffee is AMAZING!! We had a late and cappuccino. The owner is so nice they serve fresh baked goods (very small food menu but we had the banana bread, cranberry cake and savory sourdough roll). All delicious! They also sell coffee beans (I just ordered some for delivery) and wish I was local - i would be going daily! read more

We tried the beans that were aged in abourbon barrel that had a slight aroma of bourbon. We bought bag of coffee to take home as well. Design inside of the Coffee shop inside is so boho and cozy with soft chairs and local paintings. What an awesome place with awesome owners. They are a small place located inside the back of a Comedy Club and they have the best mission, making great tasty coffee beans with sustainable products and helping other communities with their missions as well. Everything they use is sustainable and biodegradable from the cups, lids, straws, even the plant based "plastic" wrapping their homemade cakes (The woman was literally mixing the muffin batter as we were chatting) down to the bean sacks. They are a 100% plastic free place. Glad I stayed to chat and pick their brains a bit. My husband and I each had a vanilla latte one with each kind of their espresso beans. One is Brazilian, and the other is from a smoked whiskey barrel. I loved the Brazilian one and my husband enjoyed his too. I preferred the Brazilian for a more standard latte flavor. Soooo good! Found this little gem across the street from our hotel. Coffee shop shares the same space as a comedy club, so dont come in expecting typical coffee shop vibes. With that being said staff was very welcoming and explained the 3 types of beans available. I asked if I could hang out for a couple hours to do some morning meetings and emails, staff turned down music to a pleasant volume and asked if I wanted wifi pw. Great place for your morning coffee! Roasted in house and freshly brewed. If they have scones get one! The butterscotch scone was out of this world! The owners are very nice and you can tell they want everyone who comes in to have a great island experience by giving other island recommendations. I love to research great coffee spots before vacation and Doing Work Coffee came up as a new roaster in town. Our first night in had us dining at Kaya Island Eats so after a long travel day and delicious meal my husband wanted, no needed, a cup of coffee. I had read about DWC's bourbon barrel aged coffee and knew when it arrived at our table that my husband would love it and he did! With a delicate aroma of smoky bourbon it was still a little pronounced for me only because I prefer my coffee a bit more straightforward. But intrigued, we headed over the next morning to check out the place. Daniel, the owner, was not only knowledgeable but super enthusiastic about coffee.
