We…read moregathered at the dock super early and although we thought it was early, Captain Kyle was up and at'm ready to fish! He said we were in for an adventure. The great thing about DSF is that they provide all the gear necessary for your catch. We were going out for Tuna as Bluefin are now found in the waters off the west coast, we were all pretty excited to go fishing. All we brought with us was food and drinks, having everything else included was a bonus. In the event we caught anything, they'll cut, clean, gill and give us fillets. The boat ride was awesome, no one got seasick thank goodness, there's ample seating inside and out. It was super foggy in the early morning, but cleared up by the time we started. I've not been on a fishing boat prior to this trip, and I was blown away at how scenic and beautiful the water was out there. The bright sunshine gave the water a super bright blue appearance, it was cool. Captain Kyle and his deckhand got everyone rigged up and ready to fish. The Captain is youthful and took his time answering questions and giving advice. His mixture of humor and knowledge of where the fish were was certainly a bonus because as soon as lines were in the water we heard, " Fish On!" That first Tuna took everyone on board including my son Parker to reel it in ( Posted Picture). What a freaking rush. It was exciting watching as everyone reeled something in on the boat. We laughed, joked and had such a fun day out on the water with friends. On our way back in to harbor the Captain pointed out several whale pods swimming around the boat, it was a trip seeing them jump. We enjoyed our lunch and talked about who caught the biggest tuna. In all honesty, that first one was the biggest in my book. I can't say enough great things about Captain Kyle and his Diamond Sport Fishing. Reservations were easy as charters go out practically daily either 1/2 or full days. The waters off of California are changing, getting warmer, they're seeing Bluefin Tuna and Marlin so who knows, maybe our next trip we'll catch something epic! Overall Impression: A+

She was so sweet and we enjoyed having conversations with her. We had 1 bar tender for the night and he was awesome with service, especially with 55 of us! The food was also surprisingly delicious! I was expecting a cold meal since we're on a boat but everything was cooked to perfection! We booked a photo booth and DJ through Horn Blower as well, and both vendors also exceeded our expectations!! It is amazing to see the work that goes into making sail. It's very impressive how the crew goes aloft to unfurl and furl the sails. The boat is very stable but there is some boat motion and it does heel a little but this adds just a bit of excitement. The crew is super helpful and as glad as everyone else to be on the water sailing. The views of the city, the islands and Alcatraz were great. No matter what the weather is on land it will be cool and windy on the water so bring a windbreaker and a thermal layer.

Had a picnic lunch and then sailed around the island and back across the bay to Emeryville. Red Dress is a slick and fast sailboat with racing history (hear all about it from Captain Bill) and Bill is the coolest, nicest captain on the western seas! Both kids and adults had a blast, alternating between chilling on the deck and holding on to the rails while Red Dress bucked up and down the wakes of ferries and fishing boats. By the time we got back to the marina, everyone was talking about where we all should sail the next time. Thank you, Captain Bill, for a wonderful day of sailing in the bay!

We saw so many things up close and personal--in a way I have never experienced the Bay Area before--even after 11 years here. The weather was a little cooler than normal, and then on the water it was that much cooler, but it really did not bother any of us as we brought jackets and wore warmer clothing--Bay Area in July, right? While everyone else, everywhere else is in short shorts and tank tops, we are out here in Uggs and sweaters (oh yeah, and our short shorts ;) A friend told me about this sailing tour and I actually got super excited. I asked two of my close friends to join me and we were off for our "day on the Bay". We entered by way of the Berkeley Marina and parked easily. We brought wine, cheese, fruit and a few other snacks for the tour. It was a whole day event, so I was glad my friend told me what to bring. We saw the Gold Gate Bridge from underneath as we crashed on the egregious waves and held on tightly to the boat. We saw beautiful Angel Island and toured past Alcatraz too. Strange to think that this prime piece of real estate was used to house America's worst criminal minds. I guess everyone deserves a view of nature. We could see the East Bay as we set sail and ventured over to the other side--and then around the whole thing almost. It was so amazing. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who loves sailing, loves water, loves the Bay--yeah, I guess I would recommend it to anyone. Capt. Dennis we will be back to ride with you again. Purchase the tour from Groupon.com which was a great deal and I must say this is one of the best experience so far. When I called to make the reservations I told Captain Dennis I have seven people in my family that wants to go. He was nice enough to accomodate all of us. Captain Dennis I must say is a very nice, friendly and pleasant character, he gave us instructions on what to expect and made sure we are comfortable, he is amusingly funny man, he asked us if we would like to navigate the sailboat and even have us wear his captains hat. lol... Lot's of fun! My daughter and her husband who was vacationing from Florida, who is one of the BD celebrant said, this is one of the highlight of their vacation trip in California. They loved it! The weather was perfect and it was a fun, engaging experience. They narrate most of the ride out, pointing out significant ships and places along the channel. You pass Alameda, sail over BART, glide under the Bay Bridge, and cruise by Angel Island. If you listen, you will definitely learn something new. The best place to sit or stand is on the right (facing Oakland). I was inside, because I needed to sit, but there was easy access to the back of the boat. I got some great pics. There is also easy access to the snack bar. They have candy, chips, soda, and other snackables. The surprise offering was cup of noodles, which seemed really popular. They did a brisk business the whole trip. The best parts for me were the cranes, seeing the bridge up close, and check your the lighthouse on Angel Island, particularly the cranes. Shout to George Lucas. He claims the cranes weren't the inspiration for the imperial walkers on Hoth. We all know better. Anyway, be prepared to stand in line a bit before boarding (like at least 1/2 an hour), lots of people, and lots of kids. It seemed popular with families. Time seemed approximate. The tour started "late" and ended a bit late. Nothing too obscene, just don't plan anything immediately following. The tours are popular, so sign up early. Again, it's free, and it's pretty delightful. Definitely recommended.
