I find it interesting that all of that was there because until I came to another restaurant in the area, I didn't know that this area existed. Now driving there is a beast because the roads are littered with potholes and there are areas where there is essentially one lane to drive, so you have to be very, very careful. But this spot, once you get to it, is it worth it? Maybe, it depends on what's going on. I'd love for them to have a bit more going on, but I respect the fact that it is so far out of the way that it may be a bit difficult. The marina down there is quite small and there's no way to tell how much business would come by that. So, this wouldn't be a destination like Berkeley or Richmond Marina's where they have options if you want to eat, but it's cute and funky and with the restaurant they have in the area, it's not a waste of time.

Jan was very quick to reply, graciously answered all of my questions before booking, and remained in great communication throughout the entire process leading up to the date. Even when I had last minute changes of adding an additional person and pushing back the reservation time, Jan was very flexible and happy to accommodate. Prior to booking, I had seen a couple photos on Jan's website as well as photos posted by other reviewers, however, reality far exceeded my expectations. The catamaran is very roomy, plenty of space for our group of 6. Moreover, you can tell Jan keeps his catamaran well maintained--very clean! Upon realizing we were celebrating a birthday (I hadn't disclosed the purpose of this trip in our previously conversations), Jan was kind enough to gift us a ceramic bowl he had made (ceramics is his side hobby)! We took off from a dock in Richmond and brought the catamaran around Angel Island towards the Golden Gate Bridge, where we stopped and set up the sails until it was time to go back. Throughout the entire trip, Jan gave us our privacy--occasionally pointing out interesting sights on the water or along the coast. We spent half our time eating around the table, which has a roof and is opened to the outside, and half our time on the trampolines in the front of the boat. Although a bit chilly, since we went in the winter, being outside and sailing on water felt peaceful and serene! As someone that is gets carsick easily, I was apprehensive about seasickness, but the entire ride felt very smooth. Jan even pointed out the big waves beforehand so I felt prepared for any rocky motion. Moreover, none of the food/drinks we brought ever got close to spilling or sliding over the table since catamarans are so steady. Overall we all had an amazing time, and I would highly recommend sailing with Jan!

I really didn't have to do anything because Toby and his team truly took care of all the details. He handled all the details including having last minute solutions for DJs, AV, and food, and was super available for anything else that came up. Toby and his team are pros and I'm not surprised they've been keeping the whole Bay Area partying for so many years. Highly recommend hosting your event with them and I'm sure I'll work with them again in the future!

Jules was my Sales point of contact and walked me through the pricing, what was offered, and gave me some great suggestions (1hr dockside, the rest of the time on the Bay). We got lucky with "Karl" and had the most perfect clear weather ever! I worked with Brenda as my point of contact Coordinator. She was calm, collected, responsive and very flexible. I very much enjoyed partnering with her during the planning process. And by flexible, I mean her and her team changed the party at the literal last minute with additional people. Most events have a 10 - 20% no show or drop rate. So I assumed about 42 would show, when the full 50 arrived; including a few that didn't RSVP. Brenda had suggested that I stick with a 50 final headcount, I declined, and...she was right. The team really rallied and made it work. I primarily interacted on the ship with Christian and Annika. They were *delightful*. We arrived at 4pm, informed the staff of additional people and they responded immediately with additional meals, drinks, and let the kitchen know. No hesitation, just understanding and problem solving. I absolutely added an additional tip to the event. Food and Beverage: Important to us so we picked the Lux Package: seafood tower appetizer, Prime Rib, pasta trio, salad, mixed desserts, while allowing us to bring a cake. Solid food, better than expected, pretty decent for a buffet. Open Bar, top shelf. They also let us bring several bottles of wine for dinner, with no corkage fee. Annika was our bartender and was a delight to work with! Boat: two levels- dining level one, and dancing level two. We had a disco themed wedding so the dining area was pretty perfect for the theme (dark reflective ceiling, mini lights) Upper level had great views, clean and easy to decorate to match our team. Overall boat was clean, well maintained and the staff, again, was fantastic all around. Christian was our main point of contact on the boat, and a delight! Overall, Luxe worked really well with our vendors and we didn't hear of any issues with the set up or strike down. Brenda coordinated well with them all, again flexible with last minute updates and changes. As an example, we added two vendors (dance instructors) last minute (literally three days before the reception). No problem to add them to the vendor list, added vendor meals and again. Just really worked with us.

The Faculty Club, on the UC Berkeley campus, was designed by the legendary Berkeley architect and is many things to many people. Most notably, it's: * A place to eat and drink; * A venue to rent out for events; and * A place to spend the night. I ate and drank there* but I also spent the night there and that's the reason for my 3-star rating and the focus of this review. The Faculty Club rents out rooms, some with private bath and some with communal bath, all situated along a long hallway up a set of stairs. If you've drank too much below, are in town to visit a student at UCB, or are just hankering to spend the night on campus it's not a bad option. The rooms for rent are functional (not fancy) and clean (but not new). "Utilitarian" is an apt description. A friend and I stayed in a room with 2 beds and its own bathroom and shower at a cost of $215. Rooms with shared baths are (obviously) less and an additional $15.40 will buy you a parking pass valid until 2 p.m. the following day at a nearby, on campus lot. I don't track the cost of lodging in the Bay Area but this rate seemed reasonable, especially considering the inclusion of a continental breakfast for 2 the following morning. Before falling asleep the night of my stay my friend wondered whether the Campanile's toll would wake us. Fear not; it didn't. Instead, 52 beeps from a garbage truck backing up was followed by the crash of glass recyclables being collected, all before sunrise. So, be sure your room is on the west side of the building if you desire a quieter experience. I can't imagine returning for an overnight here but I'd certainly be comfortable recommending it to others. It was fun and serene to step outside in the morning, right onto the beautiful Faculty Glade of the UCB campus. I tried to embrace the history and think of all the families and students who have stayed here over the years, and that worked somewhat. I did have a good stay and ultimately enjoyed my room for what it was. Things to know: - The building is challenging to find and GPS is marginally helpful. - There was no place available to park to check-in so I had to risk it and park in a 30 minute loading zone up the hill. - It was hard to find the right door to get the lobby - no helpful signage at all. - After checking in you have to navigate to one of the parking lots they allow you to park in, which is not right at the Club. - You have to navigate your way back to the place after parking - I was lugging my bags. - You have to lug your bags up a significant flight of stairs to get to the rooms - no elevator. - The rooms are like an old cabin - not updated, dark wood, very basic accommodations. - If you get a room with your own bathroom, the bathroom is tiny with nowhere to set your toiletries or even hang your hand towel. - The bed is just okay - nothing like nicer hotels. The bedding is very thin and looks like something you'd find in a Motel 6. They could at least give you a nice mattress and comfy bedding even while keeping the basic/historic look of the rooms. - There is a flatscreen tv, but it's small and uses Dish network - remote is somewhat confusing. - There was a small fridge, but it wasn't plugged in. - There was a glue trap for rodents in my room which didn't instill confidence. Some positives: - The room was very spacious and had a high ceiling. Although it felt very old, it was clean. - The windows open wide letting in a nice breeze and adding a serene feel. - The price is reasonable in my opinion. - The atmosphere is relaxing and the area is safe. - The restaurant has good food and also reasonably priced in my opinion. - Free breakfast.

Julio was our event host that evening and was there to assist the our planning committee with everything we needed! The entire crew were amazing, especially Dorothy! She was so sweet and we enjoyed having conversations with her. We had 1 bar tender for the night and he was awesome with service, especially with 55 of us! The food was also surprisingly delicious! I was expecting a cold meal since we're on a boat but everything was cooked to perfection! We booked a photo booth and DJ through Horn Blower as well, and both vendors also exceeded our expectations!!
