First time going on a tour in Florida and I had a awesome time. The boat was a bit difficult to find at first but we managed right before it was to leave . Left at 10 am exactly as well and the whole ride was 90 minutes. The boat itself was clean and there was a small amount of people on the ride . The Captain was interesting to listen to regarding facts about Florida and wildlife. It was a beautiful day and I personally would go again . My son, my wife, and I enjoyed this tour of the Indian River Lagoon on September 2, 2023. Captain Bob was polite and very knowledgeable about both the wildlife and the community. We saw a multitude of different birds such a Pelicans, Osprey, and Egrets. We also saw Bottle Nosed River Dolphins feeding and playing around the wake of the boat. Captain Bob was an excellent tour guide. Don't believe all the negative reviews on here. read more

I found this gem on Groupon, and I'm glad I did. We were visiting my in laws in the area and I booked a boat ride for the 6 of us. The captain was funny with his super cheesy jokes, the ride was calm and beautiful, but unfortunately, we didn't see as many dolphins as we had hoped. It's not his fault, they are wild animals, so they are unreliable. But he tried, and I give him credit for that. And our tour ran long because we did finally, at the end of our 90 minute tour, come across a bunch of dolphins. So that was about 20 minutes out of 90. He did have a lot of fun facts about the area and pointed out different things like birds, trees, bridges, homes, and businesses, and he actually made them interesting. Probably wouldn't recommend at full price, but definitely if you get the Groupon. Oh, and tips are "expected", there are signs all over and you are expected to pay the sales tax on the boat, not with the ticket price. There isn't a bathroom, but coolers and snacks are welcome if you bring your own. read more

I have mixed feelings about DolFun. A company can provide an amazing service, yet still lose kudos for being misleading. 1 star for honesty in advertising. I received a Groupon for a 90-minute dolphin tour. The small print indicates it does not include tax. Like most Groupons, tax is based off of the full-price tickets. Fine and expected. Full price tickets are $27.99. Tax (7 percent) on two tickets should be less than $4.00. When I followed the steps to redeem the Groupon and schedule a reservation, I was charged $9.50 for "tax." This should be rephrased as tax and gratuities. 5 stars for the ride itself. The captain was knowledgeable and made sure we saw a LOT of dolphins, particularly at the beginning and end of trip. The boat was comfortable, in good repair and boasted good views for all. Overall, I would recommend this trip to others as so long as they are aware they will be charged an extra $5.50 than what is to be expected. read more

I booked this tour through a Groupon for a trip to Florida but never got to do it because this seems like a pretty shady company. I called multiple times trying to confirm a reservation time. The recording stated that they had availability the following day and the day after that at 10:30am and to email them to set the reservation. I left a voicemail as well as sent an email stating that we would take the time slot the next morning at 10:30am. When arriving at the boat ramp there was no Sign stating that DolFun Tours operated from that area so we called several times before a gentleman answered and told us that we were in the correct location and a boat should arrive about 15 minutes prior to the start of the tour (10:15am) but at 11am there was still no boat. I again had to call multiple times before getting a person to answer. This time I spoke to a young lady named May, who told me that the tour had been canceled at the Captain's orders. I asked about the open reservation for the next day and was told he had canceled that as well. Next available was July 21 but that too could be canceled if not enough people to go out. If there are No Signs, they do not answer their phones and I only knew of them because of Groupon how do they stay in business?! In fact after the terrible customer service, lack of clear communication and overall disappointment with this company I have requested a full refund as I don't care to do business with this shady operation! Highly disappointed in the customer service of Bob, the owner. While on vacation from Washington state, I checked Groupon and saw this tour available. The Groupon fine print was very clear. I was to make sure I check availability on their website dolfun.com which I did. They had availability for four the very next day at 1 PM. I then proceeded to purchase the Groupon and email the business like the directions said to do with all of my information and the date requested. I received an email back from Bob and all it said was " I'm full of Groupon reservations." I responded quickly telling him his website stated he had availability for 4. Then then emailed me back telling me I could pay full price. After I told him that was horrible customer service and I would be leaving a review he proceeded to call me a "loser" and tell me I should "learn how to read" because not all 3000 Groupon vouchers can be used on one day. I let him know that if they only allow a certain amount of guests to purchase Groupons per day and book, that should be specified on the site. I'm now out money and a tour even though I could pay full price to come take the same tour at the same time. Hope others have a better experience than I did. read more

Dolfun tours was quick to respond to all my questions and emails, very professional and informative. SAVE YOUR MONEY!!! OWNER VERY RUDE!! We found DolFun Tours on Groupon. We read all the fine print and purchased vouchers for our family vacation (multiple families). It said 1 voucher per person per visit and each person could purchase a total of 12 vouchers. Once you purchase the Groupon voucher for DolFun Tours you need to email with voucher info to reserve your spots on the tour boat. We have several families going with our group so every family purchased their own vouchers. I emailed DolFun Tours with all our information (including screenshots of all the vouchers) per the Groupon instructions to redeem. The business/owner responded that they only allow 10 Groupon guests per tour. I explained that it did not say that on Groupon when we read the fine print and purchased the vouchers. He said they only use Groupon to advertise and they dont call/email back so maybe I should call them myself to have them write only 10 Groupon guests per tour....what? DolFun Tours wants ME, the customer, to call Groupon and ask them to change the fine print for YOUR companies "advertising." When I said as a business owner myself I would honor the vouchers because it's not the customers fault that DolFun Tours/Groupon have issues with communication. The owner told me to take responsibility for my own actions and called me a liar and a cheat. VERY unprofessional behavior and I will "advertise" how horrible my experience with DolFun Tours was. It was fine... I do these tours pretty often because I love nature tour and a boat ride is a great thing to do with visitors who come through town. This one I probably wouldn't do again because to guide (business owner I believe) he talked about real estate and laws and builders and fishing. It was really only a a bit of a tour of one little inlet and around the area we boarded. We saw a few dolphins. I mean I got a Groupon but even then. I wouldn't use this company again. I bought the $28 groupon to take my three nephews on their first boat ride. I read the reviews but since i paid so little for the four of us I figured I had nothing to lose and a great experience to give my nephews. I arrived at the Marina pleasantly surprised. The boat was magnificent and the tour guide Bob was for informative. Yes he dabbled in talking about the history of some homes but he also went into detail about the marine life. We spotted oodles of dophins on our 2 hour tour. I think we had about 20 sightings. Maybe the same dolphin following our boat. We had fun! I am a fan. And if there is another groupon deal I will def be joining Bob on his tour again. I had a great experience and got to enjoy the magic of the Indian River Lagoon with some dophin friends. Tips: Bring snacks or a toy for your little one if they have short attention spans. I am honestly surprised by the terrible reviews for this business, as my experience was fantastic! My mom bought groupon's for my aunts and I to go when they came in town from MN and we went today. Be boat was clean, the captain very nice*, informative, funny. We saw lots of dolphins, he taught us about the different birds and trees we passed, and the day was wonderful, overall. Absolutely no complaints! *one other review mentioned he didn't like people of other faiths/cultures and I didn't see that at all! There was a family of 7 that was, I assume, of Muslim faith as the women all had their heads wrapped. There was also a family with a mentally and physically handicapped son. Our group of 10 family members had the best time on DolFun boat tours! It is a great, affordable family activity. Our group's age range was 3 to 71, and everyone had a wonderful time. The boat was clean and comfortable. Captain Bob had a lot of good information and funny jokes. He had a few little fun things for little kids to play with and was really sweet to them. And best of all, we saw a ton of dolphins on our tour! We also spent a day at Disney during our 1 week vacation. I can honestly say that the boat tour was a much easier and cheaper experience and equally as fun. Not a bad little tour if you get it on Groupon. It was a little rainy that day, but the boat is covered, so we were dry scent for a few sprinkles that made its way in. There's nothing very fancy about this. You go a little up the river in hopes of seeing some dolphin. We saw about half a dozen. The captain circled back and we would sit and watch two different sets that stayed in the same spot all of the time. It was nice to get outside for the day and get out on the water. I would give this tour negative stars if I could. The owner and captain is EXTREMELY RUDE!!! We had trouble finding the boat because the directions do not work out as they should. When we got on the boat we were never greeted. This guy (Bob) is sitting right there and does not say a word to us. That was terrible. We sat down and started discussing how the directions were not very good and he (bob)turns around and starts telling us how we don't know how to follow directions. We put in the gps address given and it went somewhere else we just happened to find the place on accident. He continued to argue with us about how we should not trust technology and the other people on the boat followed instructions. After getting on the boat we got a great tour of the homes on the inter coastal that nobody signed up to have since this was a Dolphin tour. If you want to hear about who the tour guide knows, who his friend are, and what houses her helped build....this is the tour for you. But we wanted to take the kids to see some Dolphins. Sure, at the end of the 2 hours tour, and I am talking the last 10 minutes, we saw some Dolphins but by then the kids were out of it, we were staving and it was just too little too late. Maybe I am being harsh....probably not but the shameful plug for the guides construction services at the end was pretty bad. So would not recommend this to anyone and I hope you do more research than we did. DolFun....not so much. read more

Captain Shyster! He takes your money 'non-refundable' and then leaves before all his passengers arrive. Our experience: When we arrived 10 minutes early the boat was already away. Despite taking our money hours ahead of time and knowing that we were coming, the captain left the dock ahead of time and wouldn't answer the phone # that his office gave us. (We could see him as he was moving away from the shore as we were coming to the dock.) We waited until he came back, he was very rude telling us that it was our fault for not getting there earlier. Wtf? There was no information on any communication from the businesses indicating that we should have been there early. The ferry driver is an example of how not to run a customer service oriented business. Rude and insulting, expecting customers to accommodate his preferences. Better service can be had a bit further south in Sebastian where the proprietors have a better appreciation of the needs of their customers. read more

Bought 2 Groupon's; One tour for 4 people and one tour for 2 people. Going to use one on 1-6-17 and then I was going to bring my wife back with just the two of us with the other Groupon at a later date. First, the location was difficult to find, as it is at a public boat ramp with no markings. I had to ask an employee at a boatyard for directions off of the causeway about a 1/4 mile from the boarding area. We were originally going to bring another couple, but only 1 came, so there were only 3 of us. I greeted the Capt. with a "good morning," and handed him my slip and he never replied and just took my slip. I then told him that only 3 of the 4 came today and that I'd like to use the additional one the next time we came, which would be within a month, with the other Groupon I purchased. He said "that's not going to happen," in a sterile voice. I asked why I couldn't, and that I wanted to use it with the other Groupon we had purchased at the same time as the one I handed him, which says that it expires in April of 2017, in about a month or so and he that he doesn't do that and that we had to use them all at one time. My wife & daughter were in the parking lot when I greeted the Capt. and didn't hear any of our conversation. My wife then boarded the pontoon and said "good morning" to the Capt. and he never replied. It was though he was pissed at life and was just doing this because he was sentenced by a judge as his punishment to be the Capt. of this tour. Just before we took off, a family arrived in their SUV and honked at the Capt. to make sure he knew they were going on the tour. The Capt. made some comment about they need to be on time and started to back the pontoon out. The driver of the SUV, rolled down his window and yelled to the Capt. to wait. The Capt. then yelled back to him telling him to hurry up and park the vehicle. The Capt. continued to make comments about the people being late, but I couldn't hear what they were. I believe he was trying to elicit a response from them when he started backing the pontoon up before they parked the vehicle. They ultimately got on board and we left. While on the tour, the speakers on the pontoon, which were hooked to the Capt's. microphone, sounded as though there was a bad connection, as they were cracking. This could be because we sat in the furthest back seat of the pontoon. Nonetheless, they should've been clear from where everyone was sitting. The Capt. talked about how he was in law enforcement, which made me mad because of the way he conducted himself. He is not how Law Enforcement Officers (L.E.O.) represent themselves. I am a retired L.E. officer. While on the tour, the Capt. appeared to be knowledgeable about the various wildlife, but then made comments about how the pelicans "crash into the water, which causes them to have cataracts and then die by 8 years of age because of starvation because they couldn't see. He made several comments like this, and a lady with two small children looked over to us and said she couldn't believe what the Capt. was saying. He made similar comments throughout the tour. When the tour was over and the Capt. was docking the pontoon, talked about the "countdown for Obama's time in office," and then he said when you exit, "Democrats exit on the left," which was into the water and "Republicans exit on the right," which was the dock. In my opinion, this Capt. obviously hates life and what he is doing. It's sad, as it could've been a very enjoyable trip. read more

Captain Bob can't run a business and can't be reached by phone or email. Coincidentally, his phone is broken today, so says the reservation office. We waited 15-20 minutes past departure time with 17 others, and boat never showed up. Those who were able to reach someone by phone were instructed to go to 41 E Eau Gallie to catch the boat. We went there, no boat, and returned to Banana River location, no boat. At about 1230pm (30 min late) and during the 10 minutes we were transiting to the other location, the boat apparently showed up, picked up some passengers, and left. What a waste of a day. If I could give "Captain Bob" and DolFun Tours a NEGATIVE 5 Stars I would! The saddest part is that I never even took the trip on his boat. My review is strictly based on what a crappy businessman / customer service rep Bob is. I purchased a $37 Groupon for 4. The email I received gave detailed instructions about redeeming the Groupon and booking the trip. Nowhere on the Groupon does it say anything about paying additional taxes. I read it several times, as well as reviewing it with a Groupon rep. Here is a link to a image of my "voucher" from Groupon. It is 28 per person X 4 which is $112. Tax on that is $7.84. He tried feeding a line that taxes are in writing, and I sent back (again) screenshots that it does NOT specify taxes. I cannot believe how rude and disrespectful he was today to my mother and our family. When we booked we were told it was small groups of 10 We booked 10 people for the express reason that my parents are both elderly and my dad has health issues. We thought that what a great way to celebrate Mother's day for everyone. With the Corona Virus we are being very careful. We arrived excited for the excursion to our dismay we find a group of another 6 people going on the boat with us. My mother asked a question and without warning he became nasty and rude. Saying he knew the law and that he had been a captain for 30 years and that if she doesn't want to go don't go. I asked him to be polite she just asked a question. I booked a private tour for my birthday two months in advance through Boatsetter. The reservation was to begin at 11:30AM for an extended amount of time. I even spoke to Bob through the website several times confirming. I never heard anything in the days before our sail date so I reached out to confirm 11:30AM. He said NO he booked another tour and we wouldn't be leaving until 2PM (and wouldn't extend the hours I had originally booked). "It is 2PM or NOTHING." He then said, "If it rains we aren't going." Very dramatic. It's FL, it rains for 5 minutes and then sun is back. I asked him to call me several times and he refused. None of his listed numbers worked. We get on the boat and he is a miserable man the entire time. I was trying to not let his attitude and the robbing of two hours of my time ruin my day but he was absolutely terrible. My Mother in law really wanted to do this so for Christmas we had everyone visit and gave them tickets for gifts (16 though we purchased extras). I had a lot of questions prior due to her being disabled and the large number of people. I got fast responses and he helped set everything up to run smooth. The trip was fun and he had everyone's faces lighting up, everyone learned something new. He answered any question the kids asked which ranged from who lives there, what is that bird, why this and why that.... his patience was amazing. We arrived an hour before the scheduled tour. 20 minutes after the scheduled departure time and several calls to a voicemail that had wrong times listed, we eventually found out through groupon that we were at the wrong pick up point. However we were at the pick up that was printed on our ticket. When we finally tracked down the "captain" he was very rude and told us that the folks running the reservation center were a bunch of morons.
