I wanted beef, but didn't get it. Our waiter disagreed that's what I ordered. Boo!

I've had better. The server and I miscommunication on something and he basically told me that I ordered it wrong. He didn't offer to fix it or let me order another thing. Their pork belly was blah and we had to order two orders or they wouldn't let us make it at our table. The service is not mean, but not friendly, unless you are a regular. That's how it seemed. Not a very friendly atmosphere compared to other restaurants. They had a few hits and a few misses with their dishes. Overall, there are better atmospheres and quality foods. This place is well-established and was the closest Korean restaurant in the area my friend lived.

This restaurant is a pleasant surprise tucked into strip mall on Cheltenham Avenue. The clientele come mostly from the concentration of Korean residents in the area. The service was prompt and courteous. I had the pork stir fry which was good but very spicy. Definitely worth a visit!

Good food and service. This formerly korean restaurant-come korean-style chinese restaurant has been at that location for longer than I can recall and is frequented by many koreans in the neighborhood. I had the kan jajjang myun (special mixed noodles with blackbean sauce) which was pleasantly good, although the pieces of fried onions and cabbage were a bit chunkier than I've had for this kind of dish elsewhere. Still good though. Next time I think I'll try the spicy fried chicken "kkanpunggi"

The larger portion of samgyeopsal (pork belly)!

This place is still as great as ever since the last time we came! I do have a tip though; to get the most bang for your buck for the Korean BBQ, I recommend getting the $39.99 samgyeopsal (pork belly) portion instead of the regular $29.99 one (prices at the time I wrote this review). You get more meat, more veggies (additional kimchi and bean sprouts), and the usual stuff that comes with the regular order (salad, side dishes, and seafood/soybean paste stew). However, you can actually only get the larger portion if you sit at one of the three larger tables on one side of the restaurant since it requires a different grill. It's totally worth the price though (like double the amount of stuff for only $10 more), so you should ask the server about it. We ordered one order for 4 people and we were completely stuffed! Another note: the servers don't speak English that well (since mostly Korean people come here), but they're really nice. Also, I recommend the samgyeopsal for BBQ because the other items on the menu are pre-made, and you won't be able to have the true KBBQ experience of grilling something raw. The stuff you can grill yourself is on the upper lefthand side of the menu, though the mackerel is also pre-cooked, so I think samgyeopsal is one of the only items you can get raw and grill. This cut of pork is a bit fatty, but so good! This restaurant is probably the most authentic Korean place I've been to in Philly; reasonably priced too!

Overall Ratings Atmosphere - 4/5 Service - 3/5 Food - 4/5 Parking - Private Parking Lot Atmosphere - The restaurant gives off a vibe of a place that used to be a go to spot but has since been outpaced by other Korean restaurants in the area. While it is very nicely decorated, when we first walked in it felt a bit quiet and not as lively or vibrant as some of the other Korean spots nearby. Service - The staff is friendly and the service is sufficient. What We Ordered - Mung Bean Pancake - which was pretty good Galbi BBQ Beef Ribs - which were not as good as some competitors in the area, for example the beef ribs from Dubu have much better flavor Seafood Tofu Stew - which was very good Final Thoughts - In terms of food, my favorite dish by far was the tofu stew, which I was told is what they are known for. Everything else ranged from okay to good. I would come back to try other items, but personally I feel there are stronger options in the same area.

We stood at the "please wait to be seated" sign for over 10-15 minutes without being acknowledged. We tried to be patient since we saw the hostess juggling multiple tasks at once. Multiple couples arrived after us and were seated first. Emphasis on they were in line AFTER us. When a waiter finally showed up, he started seating people that were last/behind us without asking for names for reservations. Who starts from the back??? Even after telling that waiter we had a reservation and were there first, he looked at us like he felt guilty. Very poor organization and guest management. Disappointing from the moment we walked in. It just is not on the printed menu. Very cool, but also slightly chaotic. If you speak Korean, there is basically an unlocked menu situation. Same with tteokbokki. Not listed, but available. Love that for the insiders. The only downside is you do not really know all the prices ahead of time, and things ended up being a little higher than expected. It is right next to H Mart though, so prime real estate. The yukhoe came out still a tiny bit frozen in the center, but the seasoning was great. Nicely balanced sesame oil, garlic, a little sweetness. They mix it for you at the table which is a nice touch. We were mid mixing and they tried to take our picture which caught us off guard, but honestly it is a fair trade for how attentive and kind they were. Seafood tofu pot was a bit underwhelming protein wise. One shrimp and maybe two squid rings. Not exactly seafood heavy. That said, the broth itself had good depth and the tofu was silky and comforting. Service was warm and attentive the whole time. The space is super picturesque. Small booths with grills built into the tables, wooden frames, very traditional KBBQ vibes. Cozy and cute without feeling cramped. Overall, good experience. Just a little pricey and I wish everything was clearly listed on the menu. But vibes and service are definitely there.

A lot of people say this place is one of the best Korean bbq places in philly....I think there are better elsewhere. We were overcharged compared to what we were told, and when I asked why, they said they charged us for a small bowl of rice they offered and for tea, which most Korean restaurants usually provide for free. This was never clearly explained beforehand. But even with those, the bill was more expensive than it should be. What made it more frustrating was that the receipt was entirely in Korean, and I cannot read Korean, so I couldn't fully understand the breakdown of the charges. I briefly saw it as the lady made me pay right away at the register. On top of that, I noticed a small piece of hair in my bowl. I brushed it away and continued eating, but it definitely affected the experience. The inside of the restaurant was also dirty, which didn't help. Overall, the food is very expensive and not worth the amount of food they give. For the price, I expected much better cleanliness, transparency, and value. I wouldn't come back.

I don't know what's up with the new owners, but they seem to have an attitude. A few months back they had a soup for sale that I was unfamiliar with and asked the lady if I could have a sample. It's not like I wanted to stick my mouth on the container and take a sip. I thought maybe she could just take out a tablespoon and transfer it to a little soufflé cup so I could see if I liked it. She gave me a dirty look and said no. I purchased it anyway, and it turned out to be good. They used to have different types of rice available on the side and a mix of grains and beans. Now all they have is white rice. I was having tummy issues two weeks ago and figured I'd get a side of white rice, which is easily digestible. I was there on a Sunday, and it seemed like the husband who is the owner gave me another look when I asked him for a container of rice. I don't understand why he did that. Maybe it's because they didn't have it already in the display case and he had to go back and fill up a container for me. The container was about 2/3 of the way filled and I didn't notice it until I got home. I took a picture and returned about a week later when the woman who I presume is his wife was at the counter. I asked for rice and she got me a container out of display case. It was visibly filled to the top. I pulled out my phone to show her the picture of the rice her husband had given me. She immediately snapped at me and said there was a $10 minimum, thinking I was going to tap and pay. I said yes I know that I just wanna show you something. I showed her the 2/3 full container that her husband gave me a week previously. She said "oh". I asked her if she's still gonna charge me full price for the new rice and she said yes. It's not that it cost a lot of money, it's just a matter of principle. I have gotten their chicken katsu separately & as lunch platter from time to time. I doubt if I will be anymore.

When asked why, the server responded because people have injured / burnt themselves in the past. You have to ask for complimentary rice. Unlike other BBQ places, they do not provide lettuce wraps. Banchan options are limited. Service: The server we had this time was friendly, however she didn't really know the menu and asked us for the menu letter. It's cool she's honest about it haha! They do check up on you if you needed to order anything else, however we had to ask for waters and banchan to be refilled. Karaoke: Affordable with the downside of having limited songs. They were missing a lot of the popular American ones. And don't have the full selection from artists but instead, around 5 songs per artist: Another downside is that for our party of 8, the air conditioning/ circulation wasn't strong enough and we ended up sweating.. Food: The Grilled Intestines and Korean cheese corn was delicious and I'd get these again. Update: got the grilled intestines again but this time was pretty burnt :( I recommend ordering items slowly as they don't taste good after sitting out for a bit. They also serve alcohol.
