Went here a lot of times when I was younger and finally came back and it's still one of the best Korean bbq spots in the area. It's been a long time since I've been back here. The food was amazing. Ordered the combo and two more meat dishes and also a soup dish. Everything came out delicious. Service was great. They cook the meat for you in front of you on the grill. They were very attentive. Place has always been tiny and always clean. So I recommend calling in for reservations. Highly recommend!!

Everyone told me it's the best kbbq in Philly and I think I agree. A very homey vibe. Meats were all delicious and they gave us so many sides/banchan that were also tasty. The employees helpfully made sure we didn't burn the food and came over to cook some of it for us. It's a small restaurant so I can see it getting filled on busier days like weekends. Seating was tight and touchy, my only complaint.

Came on a Friday night for dinner and was seated immediately. There's a lot of seating and it's very comforting and cozy inside. The staff was very friendly and made sure to cook everything for us and make sure we liked how everything tasted! We got the special combo for two of us and there was enough food. It comes with 4 different meats and a stew and steamed egg. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves kbbq.

Kims is an authentic a la cart kbbq spot which specializes in having a charcoal grill. We were really excited to give Kims a try for the grill and we had heard amazing reviews of this place from friends. The service here is amazing but can be improved. They cook all the meats for you. You can either order ala cart or from the set menu. We opted for the biggest package on the set menu to try a variety. They can get busy since its a go to spot for a lot of koreans. This is where the service can be improved as because it seems like if you are not korean and it is busy they will rush their service by throwing the entire platters onto the grill, letting it cook just enough while constantly flipping the meats so they can cook the next platter. We did request to have ours charred a little more which didnt make a difference due to the constant flipping of the meats. Flavor wise, it was decent not really the best that Ive tried before. This place is definitely worth trying but you have to find the right time to come when its not too busy or not too dead. When its dead we noticed that the meat wasnt as fresh

I could not believe that I was able to find a korean bbq restaurant that cooks their meat with charcoal! It is toally worth the experience. They do have a secret menu so be sure to ask. We of course had the Kaldi and Skirt Steak (secret menu). They provide you with unlimited side dishes. They have various alcoholic beverages for you to choose from. I cannot wait to return!

As soon as we got out from the parking lot, we could smell the barbecue. What makes this place special is that they use charcoal instead of gas. The waiter cooks the meat for you. The cooked meat was put on the side so that it wasn't overcooked. I picked beef tongue. Very short cook time because they were thinly sliced. I dipped them in the sauce that came with the order. Rich in umami flavor. The marinated beef and pork was well seasoned and not overly saturated salty soy sauce. They provide several side dishes but the portion was very small. The lettuce was fresh and big, perfect to wrap the meat. I ordered hot Korean tea. Unfortunately, they served the piping hot tea in a plastic jar. High risk of chemical leeching. It's not a BYOB , you can buy beer there

Best in Philly hands down. Quality food and customer service. Save yourself the trouble, just get the combo.

10/10 RECOMMEND RECOMMEND!!!! In my opinion the food was amazing this place exceeded my expectations. The kimchi pancakes were good with a nice touch of spice. The skirt steak was so tender and well seasoned, we also had beef tips but the skirt steak stole the show. Service was very good, staff were nice and patient we didn't feel like we were being rushed or anything. I have nothing bad to say, I can't wait to go back. Ambiance was nice and traditional, I felt like I was in another country and I absolutely loved it! Thank you guys for having us. If ever in the area I recommend trying this spot out, you won't regret it! Just a heads up it's a bit pricey but I believe it's worth it.. If ever in the area, you should def give it a try.

3.7. The charcoal smoke flavor is very nice. The Special combo is a good deal to get a variety of tastes. Side dishes were all good and the pork was my favorite, as it was tasty and tender, the mushrooms were also very good. The sliced beef was not as tender or flavorful as I would have liked. They also offer galbi (short ribs) which I was told is excellent. Staff (wo)man's the grill for you. Not too much interaction Ambiance =bbq place with area for beer sale. It was kind of difficult to converse with the entire table when the grill was going-due to the vent being pulled down in the middle of the table. All in all a good choice for that unique smoked flavored grilled meat taste

Kim's Restaurant is a Philly favorite for hearty, comforting Korean eats. Their bibimbap is exactly what you crave--steaming rice topped with crisp veggies, tender beef, and a perfectly runny egg, all tied together with spicy gochujang. The kimchi is fresh and punchy, and the friendly staff make you feel right at home. Great place for a filling lunch or casual dinner without breaking the bank.

3rd time eating here. 1st time on a Friday/weekend dinner. This review mainly reflects that. I don't recommend coming here when it's busy. They have limited seating with a long wait list: the result? You'd wait a while (30 mins) and the meat is only cooked enough; not charred (which is the essence of BBQ). Thus the charcoal-charred flavor that we love at Kim's didn't have enough time to develop during this visit. We'd also wish we were given the option to cook for our selves if this was the case. We also weren't given the option to choose which meats to eat first, for those who'd like to know. So yes, it's nice they cook for you... but even better when it's not busy. If the busy times are the only times that work for you, I'd highly recommend reserving. As for service: we had to ask for everything while our server mainly focused / prioritized cooking our food... and not being proactive about service... we asked for extra lettuce to water to more banchan. Other than that, this is the place to go for high quality KBBQ. I believe it's because they: 1) their meats aren't frozen (at least when it comes out?) 2) they use charcoal 3) they have a huge variety of ban chan (like 7-9?), which are refillable free of charge. We averaged about $42/ person. They don't automatically charge for a party of 6. No Apple Pay. But accepts credit cards. They have a parking lot included for customers.

Amazing. This is the best place to visit when trying out Korean food. This place has been in business since 1982 so you know it's pretty legit. The place uses charcoal grill which was really good. The place also sells beer and soju if you want something to drink. The service is pretty quick. Our waiter brought the small dishes first with our meal then also brought out the meats and grilled it quickly. It was pretty cool to be able to eat the meats immediately.

    Jay L.

Very attentive female server! As she guided us that you can hold the lamp chops with tissues! And all our needs were met! Came on a Thursday right around them opening and there was no wait. Since it wasn't busy, the servers had time to help you cook grill meats and portion it out straight to your plates. It also isn't as bustling and thus wasn't as loud as they usually gets when busy thus enabling us to have quality group conversation. This Korean place serves the most variety of banchan in Philadelphia: from lots of veggies to vegan options such as tofu! We loved the watercress salad, potato salad, tofu, seafood pancake, and pickled carrot & radish so much we asked for complimentary refills! Now accepts Apple Pay. Gave us Milkis on the house: loved the yogurt original (blue) and strawberry flavor! Always love Kim's as it is the best Korean BBQ spot in Philly because meat is grilled on charcoal!

I really liked the location and ambiance of Fette Sau. The chicken was outstanding--moist, flavorful, and one of the highlights of the meal. We also enjoyed the ribs. They were huge, tender, and very tasty. Unfortunately, there were several disappointments, which is why Fette Sau only earns 3 stars from us. When it comes to brisket, I'm not accustomed to BBQ restaurants serving almost exclusively the point cut or fat cap. We ordered a pound of brisket and could only eat about a quarter of it because it was simply too fatty for our taste. We strongly prefer the flat cut, which can still be incredibly moist and flavorful when prepared well. A combination of both cuts would have been fine, but receiving mostly fat was a major letdown. The large mac and cheese side easily fed the three of us, but it was very dry and lacked flavor. The cornbread muffin was similarly disappointing--dry and bland. I'm glad we took the time to visit because the atmosphere, chicken, and ribs were enjoyable, but given the brisket and sides, I don't see us returning.

I can't go often, since it's not that close to me, but when I go, I typically order the rib platter. I typically get the same sides (beans and mac n cheese) along with cornbread. It is certainly more deserving than my initial 3 star review on my successive visits, but I never updated my review. Not everyone will love the sauce, which tastes more tomato-based, but that's okay. As I've gotten older, I appreciate it more. It's almost like... they put... ketchup... in the sauce... and if that's what it is, I'm fine with it. It tastes good. The ribs on that initial visit were tough; that's not a lie. On three visits afterwards, it was not as tough as the first time. On my most recent visit today, the ribs were really, really tender. Like... this is how tender ribs should be. The only difference between my experiences before versus now is I placed a takeout order this time whereas I always ate at the restaurant before. If takeout will always yield the freshest, most tender ribs, I'm good with ordering takeout from now on. The ribs were tender to the point of being delicate. They were SO GOOD. Even the rib that looked like it could've been tough was tender. That's how you know ribs are good. I would give 5 stars for just the ribs alone, but aha... there were more items... baked beans... SO GOOD... they have sausage bits in them. Cornbread... baked fresh and cut in front of my eyes... WARM, SOFT, FLUFFY.... SOoo GOOOOD... the mac n cheese... well, ehhh... can't win them all... it was just mac n cheese. I have to remember to order something other than mac n cheese next time, but I always forget because I don't go here often enough. Still, this is a 5 star meal all the way and I look forward to more meals like this. I thought I had to drive over to Camden all this time to get tender ribs. Let's say that all again... the ribs are damn good... tender and juicy. Yums. Go get some. Parking lot on the premises. Hope you get the same experience I just did.

(About $28) Everything was very good...but the spicy greens really stood out...like nothing I ever had before. The meal also came with cornbread, which was really good. There is a little condiment bar on the side with lots of sauces and other items including pickles, peppers, onions, pickled onions and cinnamon honey butter (for your cornbread of course). You are welcome to take whatever you like from there. I would love to return to try some other items. The space was very well-maintained and had some cool decor throughout. We're never great at eating our money's worth, so the pay-as-you-go setup felt like a better fit. We got the favorite set for two, which ended up being plenty. The biggest highlight right away: they grill everything for you. KBBQ is just better when you can sit back and eat instead of managing the grill yourself. They also use a back grill to keep things moving, so there's barely any pause between rounds of meat. It felt really efficient. Also, the place is surprisingly clean and doesn't have that heavy "you're going to smell like smoke for the next 5 hours" vibe, which I really appreciated. Somehow they keep it all under control even with constant grilling. Service-wise, the staff were attentive and clearly working hard, especially since it seemed a bit understaffed. That said, my friend did feel a little uncomfortable at times. There were a few moments where it felt like we were being watched closely, almost like they were worried about a dine-and-dash situation, and we were asked multiple times if we had paid. I personally read it more as things being slightly disorganized with a small team juggling cooking, serving, and payments, but I can see how it might come across differently depending on how you interpret it. Food-wise, the meat was very good, but the banchan really stood out to me. The cabbage salad with a gingery soy dressing was super refreshing and cut through the richness of the meat perfectly. Free refills on banchan are always a win too. I also liked that the grill came with corn cheese, egg, and sprouts, nice extras you don't always get. The corn cheese wasn't as sweet as I expected, and the egg was a bit on the salty side, but still enjoyable. The tilted grill setup was another plus since it lets the grease drain away, so the meal didn't feel overly heavy like some AYCE spots. Overall, it was a really fun experience. A bit pricey, but worth it for the quality and how easy the whole meal felt. Just something to be aware of with the service dynamic depending on how sensitive you are to that kind of thing.

The waffle was a waffle but the bacon burnt ends were amazing!! So good I would have eaten a plate of just them. The French toast comes four ways with an option of a sample plate of one of each. It's a great way to try them all. There would be no way I could eat a full plate of any of them due to the size of the toast and the richness of the toppings. My favorite was of course was the bacon. The Carmel bacon burger was hands down a mouthful of such flavor that all of the meat eaters at the table couldn't put it down. Rich Carmel sauce, thick cooked bacon with an amazing perfect-fully cooked burger. I would order it again with a side of burnt ends for the best combination.

I've been wanting to come here for a year and really had high hopes for it. The restaurant is…read morebeautifully decorated and cleanly kept. The host/bartender and server were both very nice. I'm not sure if the server was new but she didn't seem very familiar with their menu, though she did say she'd ask if we had questions. I ordered a $19 cocktail and asked them to make it less sweet but it was still very sweet and syrupy, so I didn't even really drink it. We ordered the hanging bacon for $19 which I was excited about. For the price and hype, I kind of thought it would be fancy or thick-cut bacon, but it was just regular thin bacon like you get at the grocery store. I will say it was cooked well, the sweet habanero sauce was excellent, and the cornbread underneath the bacon was good too. Just seemed kind of overpriced and hyped. I tried to order the bacon and lobster Alfredo. The server came back and said they were out of lobster so I asked for another menu. My friend tried to order the burnt ends entree, but they were out of that, too. They were out of asparagus so the server said they would substitute broccoli instead. We ordered the blackened salmon that was supposed to have a mango salsa topping. It came with mashed potatoes and asparagus (sub broc). However, it was plain when it got dropped off and I later asked the server about the salsa and was told they were out of salsa as well. I ended up using the habanero sauce that came with the hanging bacon to add a little flavor to the dish. It would have been a nice mention when they dropped the food off instead of me having to ask for it. The other entree we got was like a braised pork on mashed potatoes with cornbread. The server said "that comes with asparagus so would you like the broccoli instead?" I told her, "the menu doesn't say it comes with that but if so, I guess sub the broccoli." When she brought that dish to us, she said "I asked the chef to put broccoli on because you asked for it." I was annoyed because I already had told her the menu didn't say anything about a vegetable with that dish. They did charge me $3 extra for the "added" broccoli. It wasn't the price, but that the server was not knowledgeable about the menu, offered me something I questioned her specifically about, and then charged me extra for it as if I asked for it. I would like to reiterate, though, that she was very sweet throughout. The lack of menu items on a menu that isn't that big, and has some repeats between the appetizers and entrees, was laughable by the end. The food that we did get was cooked well and tasted fine, but was pretty basic and in my opinion, overpriced for what it was. I think it would avoid confusion and disappointment if the server told you what they were out of when you sat down, so you could make an informed menu choice, as I've had this happen at other restaurants where it was not a big deal that they were out of a dish or item. But this place was out of so many things on a Thursday night. I was really hoping this would be a regular neighborhood place for me, but I will not be back.
