The Dollar Car Rental has moved and now operates out of the consolidated LAX Rental Car Center. It's spacious and clean inside, however, poor service. There were insanely long waiting lines and apparently they're short staffed. They have 26 working stations, 13 on each side inside the hall wall, but only 5 were staffed on one side of the station and the other side was completely empty, while there were more than 50 guests waiting in line.

This shows how many miles were left until the tank is empty. This is when I picked up the car from LAX. It shows 405 miles.

BEWARE - Fuel / gas scam. I took a picture of the dashboard electronic display where it shows how many miles are left until the tank is empty and it said 405. I filled up the gas tank right before I dropped the car off at the airport. I took a picture of how many miles it said were left until the tank is empty and it said 417. So I returned it with more gas than when I received it. They still charged me $100 for gas! Also, when I booked the rental at Booking.com, I said I wanted a compact car and I agreed to the rate. When I got to the rental counter to pick up the car, they said I rented the "manager's special," which just happened to be a huge truck which got only 10 mpg. How convenient. I don't like driving big trucks. The representative then proceeded to upsell me to a compact car for an extra $122!! I didn't rent the manager's special. I tried to show him my receipt but he kept insisting I was wrong. I will never rent from Dollar again. Totally shady and crooked thieves.

9:30pm rental pickup and there's 40 people in line and no one at a help desk. Absolute disgrace of a company. It's not fair that we face to give a star rating.

    Lines. Just lines.

Standard dollar lineup. 50 people in line and 4 people working. This seems a business model for dollar. Expect an hour wait. The only reason 2 stars is because the lady at the counter was super friendly and helpful. Car was fine, but dirty. If you have a chance to rent with another company, prob do that.

Cigarette burns and stinks of smoke. Said "we are the cheaper option. You get what you pay for." Unacceptable.

BEWARE!!! Shameful. This car stinks of cigarettes, has body damage all over it. The employee stated " make sure to take pictures" while walking out to car. This is embarrassing for the people I am traveling with. I now get to have an awful headache anytime we get in the car. No other cars available....

28 desks for check in. 3 are open. An hour in line so far. It's LAX on a Monday. This is unacceptable.

Can you skip the line if you're a Dollar Rewards member?

I did not see anyone skipping the line for any reasons so I would not count on it

Tomorrow I'm getting to LA. I rented a car online. I will be at the TB terminal at LAX. I was wondering if Dollar-Rent has an office in the first level?Do I need to pay a taxi from the Airport to get to the place or do they offer a bus or something?

Consider not renting fromHertz, Thrifty or Dollar. The rental site at LAX is a nightmare. It took us three hours to get our reserved car last night at 11.30PM. They overbooked and didn't have cars readily available. Nor did they have enough…

Is the shuttle from Inglewood to LAX free when we drop off the car? Do we need to book ahead?

Yes and no, they run periodically

Saying I hate enterprise is an understatement- these people don't even deserve one star. CALLING…read moreTHEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT GETS YOU NO WHERE-I AM PROOF. Their branch in Miami airport is a flaming dumpster fire (have called customer service 5x no resolution ) - Miami gave us a broken car with a faulty engine - and the enterprise at LAX isn't any better. I lost a custom dog collar in the Range Rover we rented. Immediately called them and filled a form online. Got a message hours later that they didn't find it- a month later got a call from a guy saying he found a dog collar in the Range Rover as he'd accidentally dropped his credit card between the seat . He was kind enough to contact me and send it to me via mail (what was left of it) What I got back was basically a few stones and my dog's tag. Some certified a hole ripped up the collar, made a piece of jewelry for themselves with the clasp and then dropped the pieces they didn't want back in the car. I hope you go to hell. So, not only does enterprise not do their job when it comes to lost and found- either the employees themselves or the people renting cars are kleptomaniacs and steal valuables. Humanity is in a sad place if someone doesn't have money to buy a necklace and steals a chain made for a dog. Enterprise is a disgusting organization and anyone who works for them is inept. A bunch of criminals work here. Truly the worst of humanity and low IQ. Oh and their lost and found doesn't have a phone number. I can't even imagine the things they've stolen from customers / had stolen by the people that rent their cars due to their inability to do their job. This corporation is a subsection of the worst of humanity. * Also in response to Nellie- what a liar. You guys aren't going to do ANYTHING. No one has reached out to me I keep having to chase to get help or a response. LIARS. "Be prepared to share" - what a joke

The facility itself looks quite new and modern. Once you arrive, you need to go up to the 5th floor following the signs to the rental counter. It's a bit of a walk from where the shuttle drops you off, so keep that in mind if you're traveling with luggage. There are both elevators and escalators available. Once I reached the counter and was helped, the actual rental process took less than five minutes. One thing to be aware of is that the rental clock starts when you sign the contract, but you then have to go all the way back down to the 1st floor to pick up your car, which takes additional time. Almost 20/30 minutes of people in line waiting to get a car. Drop-off was incredibly easy. Just follow the Budget signs, and attendants guide you through the process. You simply leave the keys in a little basket inside the car, and cameras scan the car as you drive in. I'm still impressed by how they somehow knew the car had been returned with the correct fuel level and without any new damage. The rental time stops as you drive into the return area, which takes away some of the stress if you're cutting it close to your scheduled return time. The free shuttle back to LAX takes around 10-15 minutes, but allow extra time for traffic. The shuttle operates on the lower level only, which is the Arrivals level--the same level where you'll be picked up when arriving at LAX. There are plenty of shuttles going back and forth.
