I will never use Fox again. They have a number of sneaky fees so if you use, get a printed contract before signing. You may be in a rush like I was and they'll take advantage. I signed on a tablet and they didn't explain anything that was signed. What was supposed to be a $200 ish rental turned into over $600 because of sneaky tactics by the rep. Disputed it with credit card company and was denied because I signed. I'm partly to blame but deep transparency by the company at signing and zero empathy when calling to describe the bind it put me in. I verbally denied any insurance and thought I was signing according to that but they have sneaky tactics to way overcharge. Get a printed contract if you use them. Better yet, use someone else. Do not rent from Fox. I was given a 65,000 mile SUV which had multiple tears in the tire. I wasted 3 hours waiting for roadside assistance to call me back and another 3 hours at the tire shop. Could not get a tire replacement because they said it was my fault. I paid for repairs out of pocket and will have my insurance reimburse me. NEVER rent from these criminals. Also, the tank of gas that was supposed to be $5.70 a gallon turned out to be $7 per gallon due to "city taxes" and miscellaneous fees. They should be sued. read more

**Terrible Experience at FOX Rent-a-Car/Europcar at LAX, July 11, 2026** We had an absolutely horrible car rental experience at LAX on July 11, 2026. We arrived around 11:15 AM and had pre-paid through Expedia. We waited almost an hour in a hot building with very limited seating just to check in. The facility was extremely crowded, and many customers were waiting over an hour for their vehicles. The associate told us an upgrade would cost $200 plus taxes, which was just over $220. I remember this clearly because I called my sister to make sure the upgrade was okay since she was covering the cost and paying us back. After authorizing the charge, we were told we would have to wait 45 minutes for a car because none were available. To be clear, our original rental car was not available either. We ended up waiting over another hour. We finally received a car that was dirty and smelled. There were almost no cars in the lot, and we did try to switch to a different vehicle, but the only other option was not a 6-seater, which was the reason we had paid to upgrade in the first place. We arrived at 11:15 AM and didn't leave until approximately 1:30 PM. We lost over two hours of our vacation just trying to get a rental car. The billing was another issue. We were told the upgrade would be just over $220, but the paperwork we received stated the charge would not exceed $304. That was already different from what I had told my sister the upgrade would cost. We were later charged approximately $390, supposedly due to a charge for a full tank of gas. We had filled the car in Malibu the day before and had barely driven it, so there was more than half a tank remaining when we returned it. When we contacted customer service, they were rude and dismissive. They offered only a small credit toward a future rental, which is useless because we will never rent from them again. When my husband requested to speak with a supervisor, we were told someone would call within 72 to 96 hours. When he asked to speak with the supervisor who was apparently there, the representative refused. This was an unacceptable experience from start to finish. Long waits, a dirty and smelly vehicle, unexpected and questionable charges, and terrible customer service. We rented through Europcar, not FOX, but apparently they are connected or operated by the same company. This is a no-frills operation. The staff said the shuttle runs every 30 minutes, but on the ride from LAX to the location some other travelers said they waited almost an hour. I waited about 10 minutes. Once at the location, the line moved fairly quickly to get to the counter. I must have arrived at an off-peak time, the line was short. The cars are located in a large warehouse, so they are out of the sun and are not baking hot. They have you fill out a damage form to show any existing issues with the vehicle and then hand it to the attendant on the way out of the lot. I made sure to be very detailed in my walk through, just to be safe. Returning to the lot is simple, just pull in on the same road the shuttle came in on. The lot attendant will take the keys and finish up the transaction. The shuttle back to the airport picks you up from a canopy by that driveway. Overall, it went well. Just make sure to give a little extra time for transportation to and from the airport. read more

I rented a car from this company a while back very high security deposit and I guarantee you 100% that not everybody gets their security deposit back. I got stuff taken out that I shouldn't be taken out. They never explained me why their security deposit and what they took out because they couldn't find a record of my rental, which is weird. You can't use to cards to do the security deposit. I've seen one family they just landed and they went to hit a rental car there and they got turned away cause the guy didn't have the whole payment down cash. None of the updated yet but they had their address somewhere else and it took me a while to get to theirs and then I have to figure out where to go to the airport and I do not like going to the airport, but they decided to move there. read more

There were probably 5-10 groups in front of me and total wait was around 2 hours. There's a line to process and sign papers, then there's another line to pick up your car. Insaneee! Utilized a rental car for my recent trip. Upon arriving to the airport, i went to the pickup area to wait for a shuttle. Not sure how often the shuttles run, but I waited for quite a while and several other rental car shuttles came at least 4 times before Fox Rent a car did. The shuttles seats were filthy, and the inside smelled like stale air. The driver was polite. Once arriving to the Rental facility, the shuttle driver assisted passengers off. I went inside to check in. The lines were short, and the Representative Karin was friendly, explained the rental agreement to me, and asked if i had any questions. Once checked in, i went to the depot where all the cars are housed to pick up my rental. That line was long, and took a while to get help from a worker. Service could be quicker when picking up the car after leaving the reservation counter. I was given a Jeep Grand Cherokee. It was clean, smelled nice and got me to and from my destination. No issues with my rental and returning it was quick and easy. Their rental rates are great and cheaper than their competitors. They are my go to whenever I'm visiting California. read more

The worst company vehicle stopped working in the middle of the road and we had to wait in 91 degrees heat. they made us wait for hours and ride back to LAX to get a new car took us over 5 hours. Worst service and absolutely no one to talk to that will make you feel bette. Missed a very important appointment and they didn't seem to care at all. Excellent car rental place with very reasonable prices where you can still get a high quality car. For example, was able to get a Nissan Sentra for five nights, four days for under $200, like $130 something. Friendly clerks like Mario that help you out, and driving off as well as drop off are convenient processes; just don't take the shuttle to LAX if you are late for your flight - you will miss it and get stuck in traffic. The shuttle from LAX to the location also doesn't run as often so you may have to wait a bit longer. It's also near the LA Times Building when you exit. In any regard, recommended! read more

Cars available?? Firstly, I'll begin by stating that we chose to rent from Fox because their pricing was affordable for our travel dates. NOTES 1. Unlike their Vegas location, transport via their shuttle (from LAX) is directly to their location. 2. There aren't many sitting areas/chairs in their "waiting area". We arrived at LAX on Sunday, March 3. Thankfully, we didn't have to wait long for the shuttle, which was also in the midst of dropping off passengers at the various terminals. When we arrived at Fox's location, there was no one else in line, and we thought we lucked out since we didn't have to wait. We were completely and utterly WRONG. The female staff member that assisted us was friendly enough.....she was polite and knew the ins and outs of her job. Unfortunately, after she verified our information and reservation, she proceeded to tell us that they had no cars available!! Of course, we were quite shocked since we made a reservation well in advance of our arrival date. And her reason for no cars available: The academy awards were happening that day......so that's why they had no cars. Really?! Are you telling me all of Demi Moore's glam people and security rented from your business?!! We waited about 1 hour before car was returned and became available. Luckily, it was a Toyota Camry, which was the type of car class we had reserved. During the 1 hour wait, the lady that was assisting us did walk back to their return area to inquire about cars (which we thought strange, as she didn't just opt to CALL someone). After verifying and signing our paperwork, we loaded our suitcases into the car and were on our way. BOTTOM LINE Unsure if we would rent from here again. We may if the price was right/affordable, which was its only redeeming quality/aspect. read more

I have rented from Fox at LAX for years, but it's been a minute since my last visit. Reserved a car for 1/22/26 and arrived to find a mile-long line being served by TWO agents. But Fox now offers a skip-the-line option for $49 per rental. That would have doubled my total charges, so I sucked it up and waited. I will not be back; Sixt and Payless don't treat me like this. Since you're reading this, do us all a favor: when it's your turn at the counter, 1) have your license and credit card ready; 2) NO you don't want insurance -- it's a ripoff and your own carrier will cover it; 3) NO you don't want to pre-pay for fuel and "bring it back empty" -- it's a ripoff and there's plenty of cheap gas within 10 miles of LAX; 4) NO you don't want an upgrade; 5) NO you don't need a Toll Pass. Well, maybe you do, but it's gonna be a ripoff. That's it: we're all waiting behind you, so step up, pay, take your keys, get out. Upon arrival at lax and I went to the shuttle waiting area another gentleman and I waited forever for a shuttle to arrive before someone else finally gave us a ride to the rental location. Once I reached the counter I informed the lady working that my insurance covers rentals so I don't need any insurance. She informs me that regardless I have to take the liability either way because its the law. I email customer service and they tell me that insurance is optional and since I signed the contract they can't refund me. Ive never rented a car before so taking her word i just pay it and go on my way. Now im at a loss of almost $100 dollars. Going back to the airport wasnt any better. This time the car was supposed to be an upgrade but ended being a beater Nissan Sentra (not the make or model - just this particular car). No nice accessories in the interior. At the LAX location, the employee who assisted me, Alfredo, gave me the clear impression that additional insurance products were necessary and that the deposit requirements were far more restrictive than they actually were. I specifically asked and re-confirmed these points multiple times before signing because I wanted to avoid unexpected charges. To Whom It May Concern: I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the worst customer service experience I have encountered while renting from Fox Rent A Car. I recently returned a vehicle at your LAX location and had a separate reservation to pick up another vehicle the same day. As a frequent Fox customer, I have generally received excellent service, which is why this experience was especially disappointing. On May 31, I returned a vehicle and wanted to pay for the rental using my personal credit card rather than the corporate card that was on file. I was directed from the vehicle return area to the rental counter inside. I have made this type of payment change on numerous occasions in the past without issue. However, the representative assisting me, Olufemi, informed me that it could not be done because my corporate card had already been charged. This was confusing, as I have several previous rental agreements in your system through the same third-party booking source where I was able to change the payment method successfully. The interaction became even more concerning when Olufemi made several inappropriate comments. He stated, "You're killing us renting cars for 14 days. Why do you rent so long? Why don't you just buy a car?" I was shocked and embarrassed by these remarks. While I was extremely upset, I remained professional and composed. After completing the return transaction, Olufemi began processing my new reservation. When he noticed the rental was again for 14 days, he commented, "Another 14 days?" He then questioned why I was renting a smaller vehicle than the one I had just returned. I explained that I had reserved the vehicle type that was available at the time of booking. Olufemi then informed me that the vehicle I reserved was not ready and that I might have to wait a long time to receive it. He proceeded to suggest that I upgrade to a larger vehicle. This felt like an attempt to pressure me into purchasing a more expensive rental. However, when I went outside to the pickup area, my reserved vehicle was immediately available with no wait at all. Because the entire interaction was uncomfortable and unprofessional, I asked to speak with the manager on duty. Unfortunately, I do not recall his name, but he was very apologetic and assured me that he would address the matter with Olufemi. I believe the comments made to me were inappropriate, unprofessional, and inconsistent with the level of customer service I have come to expect from Fox. Additionally, the attempt to create a false sense of delay to encourage an upgrade raises concerns about sales practices and customer treatment. I wanted to bring this matter to your attention so that it can be properly reviewed. I appreciate your time and consideration and would welcome a response regarding any actions taken as a result of this complaint. In regard to a separate matter, I realized that I left my parking garage remote control inside the vehicle I returned. The remote was placed above the passenger-side visor. It is a square, gray remote with a white button. I'm sure the vehicle has been cleaned and reassigned, I would appreciate it if someone could check for the item and let me know if it has been found. This place is AWFUL! For aesthetics it's a depressing place, looks worse than a DMV. The line moves slow, workers don't really act like they care, no pre-check in option and they are over here trying to upsell me on a bunch of stuff I don't need. They charged me for insurance I turned down (since I had already bought one online before the trip, thing that I had explained). They never showed me the single lines that were added, they took away the only copy of the contract when I left the parking, they drew 800usd ahead with guarantee that unless I had an accident $500 would be returned (I had bought the fuel from them). I rent a lot of cars at LAX. Honestly, Fox was a good experience especially in comparison to the budget rental car companies I've used. Fox is open late and has its own shuttle (whereas other budget companies, you have to take a shuttle to a pickup spot and then take a second shuttle to the car rental counter). I brought my own insurance and paperwork to bypass extra costs for buying insurance through Fox. They accepted it as I had the proper paperwork. Pickup was fast, dropoff was fast too. Shuttle times were quick (I waited maybe 5 minutes at LAX and 10 at Fox to return to the airport). All in all a good experience, and I've rented from many companies. I always book from a third party to get the best prices, like booking.com or kayak. Also, the full refund before 48 hours of your booking is great too for flexibility so you don't get stuck with a reservation you may no longer want/need. read more

I won't lie. I was very concerned about renting from here after I was booked through a 3rd party. I checked the reviews and they were extremely bad. I sucked it up and did it anyway. I was so surprised. We had a friend pick us up at LAX as my husband is from Los Angeles and we were coming in for a wedding and to see family we are from North Carolina. I actually manage a rental car company in North Carolina so I had high expectations. Our friend took us to the rental car company where they all seem to be in the same building for LAX rentals. The signs were easy enough to follow to get to Fox. We had a 9:30PM pick up. We did not wait in line long at all. When we were helped the agent, I think her name was Feathen or something close to that, explained they were doing a pre-paid fuel set up I think at $6.19 a gallon. This was average for the fuel prices at this time (May 2026) It may have been a few cents more but for not dealing with the headache I was fine with it as LA is busy and not having to fill up on return was worth not having the headache. The car was a hybrid and had less than 2k miles on it. It smelled fine and no damages. We had no issues upon returning the vehicle and getting back to airport on the shuttle. As we were coming out, the shuttle was leaving and waited for us to walk around the fence and get to them. I was super impressed and will use Fox again. read more

Do not rent from these people. We stood in line well over an hour and by the time we got to the counter all the small and mid size SUV's that we prepaid for were gone. So we're offer a no charge upgrade into a full sized SUV. Now were back home and our bank statement shows only the $150.00 deposit was returned but because we signed for a car period they took advantage and hit us with an additional $178.24 upgrade charge and refuse to return it. This review is an update of my review of 5 months ago. I try NOT to review in close timing but.... I am hopeful others with the 1 star review will read my comments and reconsider their ratings (and get the locations correct) and I am also the bearer of some helpful information. If you read my earlier review you'll see my grievance was that of the shuttle service. I am a usual early morning person at LAX and to wait an hour for a shuttle is not acceptable after flying in the dark of night for 5 hours. But I have learned Fox will be moving to the new Rental Center (on Imperial and Century (across the boulevard of their present location), This for whatever management is thinking caused the shuttle service drivers to get let go as Fox is ramping up for this new upcoming impending move. You realize this is a positive move because you no longer have to wait/take a shuttle rather you will have a tram that will transport you in/out of LAX. IMHO their vehicles have always been "new" and clean and well kept. Their pricing beats almost anyone.... If and when I am in the LAX area and need a car, my first choice would be Fox, luckily I've not been let down yet. DO NOT RENT WITH FOX RENTAL CAR AT LAX!!! I WAS THE VICTIM OF A DECEITFUL BAIT AND SWITCH WITH MY LAST CAR RESERVATION! I have rented with FOX RENTAL AT LAX 3-4x per year every year for the past 6 years, and I will never rent from FOXagain based on the following. When I made my reservation for 11/22/25 at LAX (booked through Expedia in September), I specifically booked a Mid-Size class vehicle through Expedia (Toyota Corolla or similar). At pickup on 11/22/25, the person at the lot desk gave me the keys to a Nissan Versa which I could see was very small, and I later learned is categorized as an Economy/Compact vehicle--clearly below the class I reserved and what I was being charged for. After researching the Versa's classification when I got to my destination, it became clear that I had been given a lower-class, much smaller vehicle than what I booked through Expedia but still paying the higher price. With that knowledge, I called FOX corporate office on Sunday Morning 11/23/25, and the agent that I spoke with said that I had indeed been given the wrong class of vehicle and that I should return the car to the FOX LAX airport facility to exchange cars. This required me to take an additional 2 hours out of my day on Sunday, 11/23/25, to correct a mistake made by the FOX RENTAL CAR staff. Upon returning the Versa to FOX LAX car rental office, I was given a VW Jetta which I assumed to be the same midsize class of car (like a Corolla) that I had originally requested via Expedia. To make things worse when I returned the Jetta to FOX RENTAL's LAX facility on 12/1/25, and after reviewing my emailed bill (when I was already at Terminal 4 @ LAX), I discovered that I had been charged an additional $15/day charge for nine days, a fee which was labeled as an "upgrade." I want to be absolutely clear....I NEVER requested an upgrade--not online, not at the initial pickup on 11/22, and not when exchanging the car on 11/23. I challenged the charge for the higher price/upgrade and shared my prior booking info with Fox Rental Car customer service, showing that I have never once requested or paid for an upgrade. They produced a doc with my signature/initials showing the higher price, but oddly the same agent from 11/22 name was also shown on the second form. I definitely didn't see the same agent or same lot manager when I returned my car, so they basically falsified the doc for the replacement car picked up on 11/23. There was NEVER any verbal communication of the upgrade by the tele-agent or agent at the pick-up, which is unethical. When I challenged FOX via email with all docs and a thorough recap, they basically implied it was my fault for not catching that I was being billed a higher price/upgrade cost. This situation represents not only a clear bait-and-switch involving the Versa versus the mid-size vehicle that I initially reserved, but I also view this as a major breach of trust with the unauthorized charge being added to my bill without verbally communicating the change and without my consent. Such conduct is misleading, unacceptable, and requires immediate correction. I suggest you look for other rental car agencies that have nicer cars and more professional staffing. read more

At pickup, the agent insisted I buy their liability insurance--despite me showing proof. I said "no thanks," but their system forced me to sign a new contract with the extra fee. The next day I called customer care and explained I couldn't physically return to LA. They said they'd note my file and billing would review the charge. Instead, billing replied "sorry, you signed the contract--no refund." Now I'm out the insurance cost plus their admin fee, even though I never wanted their coverage. This pushy upsell and rigid policy cost me time, money, and peace of mind. Fox Rent A Car sold me unneeded insurance, then refused to honor their own promise to review it. Bottom line: Double-check every fee before you sign. Don't trust that a post-rental phone call will fix anything. Be ready to dispute charges with your credit card if they won't refund you.
