I am posting this review on behalf of a senior veteran who does not want to post it himself. He brought two authentic Las Vegas Raiders jerseys to Dollar Cleaners in San Lorenzo for alterations. These were valuable items purchased from the Raider Image store and have significant financial and personal importance. Before the work was performed, his in-home care provider asked the employee whether he would be measured before the jerseys were altered. The employee stated that he already knew the measurements and proceeded without taking new measurements. When he returned about a week later to pick up the jerseys, both had been altered too tightly and no longer fit properly. He was informed that the remaining material had already been discarded, preventing the jerseys from being restored or corrected. When the issue was brought to the employee's attention, there was no offer of a refund, corrective solution, or opportunity to speak with a manager or owner. He was told there was nothing the business could do. A senior veteran who entrusts a business with valuable personal property deserves care, professionalism, and a good-faith effort to resolve mistakes. Unfortunately, that was not his experience with Dollar Cleaners. Furthermore, California law provides protections for seniors and consumers against fraudulent business practices. Do not frequent Dollar Cleaners because they do not comply with the law, nor do they respect customers, seniors, and veterans. read more

Recently I needed some holes in my pants pocket's sewed up and they did it no problem, $8 a pocket. Fast and reliable, Dollar gets the job done!!! read more

Love this place .... I used to come to this location all the time when I lived in San Lorenzo. After I moved to Castro Valley, I still drive here and one of the workers told me they had a branch in CV too and I was happy. Sadly now they closed down CV branch but it is still not too far to drive here. The price here is much cheaper than other cleaners. I was skeptical at first because of that but I gave it a try with a shirt that I thought.... if something bad happened, I wouldn't be so upset. They did a great job so i stick with them. Ignore the old reviews, honestly. I don't know where they're getting their information from because it's far from it. They are an honest bunch, who cater to the community and not just people, but there's even specials for those who dedicate their lives everyday for our safety, talk about discount and I mean. You still got to have your suit and your uniform cleaned, right? I mean, it's the cheapest deal for dry cleaning around and I mean, they're quick. Like at any other given places it would be an average of at least three days, they usually have whatever you need to be dry cleaned by the next day! I mean, talk about great service. Your clothes come out cleaned and pressed, with hangers and tags to verify. AND the most important part, it doesn't come out with that nasty post-dry cleaning smell. It doesn't have all that harsh chemicals on the clothes smelling, which is a super plus. Their prices are deserving of the four stars because for majority of shirts and garments are only 2.99$ with no limit! I mean, men's business shirts are only .99 cents?! Maddness, I hope they know what they're doing. But I mean, the prices are great and you get your clothes back usually by the next day. They take both credit cards and cash. You just need to give them a phone number to log your clothes, and if you don't, you can always sign up with them. I'm so glad I found this place. It's family ran, it's cheap and it's quick. This place is truly a "diamond-in-the-rough". The prices are excellent, at least 25-50% lower than most cleaners,... for exactly, if not better cleaning. I'm not sure how they are able to do's this, but I've been coming to Dollar Cleaners for decades and have never been disappointed. I'm not sure if I'm just too anal or what but I feel like my clothes are still not clean. It doesn't smell fresh and the bottom of my dresses are still dirty. Just curious to what I paid for because they're not really a dollar cleaning services. They're pretty damn expensive especially if you get it hemmed. My main complain is they don't really handle my Bebe dresses with care. Two of my tube long dress are pinned with safety pins to the hangers so it left some tiny holes. I guess they don't realized that Bebe are at least $100 per piece. There's a reason why most dresses has hanging strings so you can use it to hang. Duh! read more

I am very disappointed with the state in which my garments were returned to me. One item was a blazer. The buttons were attached when I dropped it off. They must of fallen off during service. When I picked it up, two buttons were attached with safety pins. They do alterations there. Since the buttons fell off when they had the blazer, the right thing to do would be to sew them back on. The second item use to be a rich wine-color silk blouse. After this garment was dry cleaned it seems like the color bled out and the water mark is still there. On top of everything else their signage says blouses are $3.50 but I was charged $5.50. At this point what difference does $2 make on a ruined $110 shirt. I will not be returning. read more

Worst cleaners in the area. Left my jeans here and when I came to pick them up they were destroyed. Part of the design for the pants is patches covering the front of both legs but somehow all the patches came off. Then they had the genius idea to STAPLE the patches altogether and return them to me on the side. I was upset and had asked if they could tailor the patches back on at least but the woman behind the counter laughed at me and said I'd have to pay for the tailor. $60.00 pair of jeans and I was laughed at for something they did. I took in all of my business attire, post pandemic since we are now back in the office part time. I had at least 30 items which included cashmere sweaters, business suits and dresses. I had some St John knit jackets with buttons and they put tinfoil to protect each button. The spots were taken out, the items were clean, pressed and didn't smell like chemicals. The service was fast, took in Saturday and I got them all back on Tuesday after 2 and they returned each of my items.. I highly recommend them. And the best part, it was a fixed price for all items, so my bill was under $145. read more

I used to be a fan of Dollar Cleaners but they will mess up your shirts. I trusted them with my shirts and unfortunately they melted the buttons on a majority of the last batch of shirts i brought to them. How hard is it to iron a shirt and not melt the buttons? I guess I could write a scathing review about how they stained my clothes, but they didn't . I could also be vague, stating to never return here again but I won't. I won't return here for three reasons: *They aren't cheap as they claim (I only pay 75 cents more for a coat when I go to an eco-friendly and people friendly dry cleaners down the street). *The customer service here is majorly lacking, they have never greeted me or thanked me for my business, the two times I went the staff seemed surly and preoccupied as a DMV employee. *Cash only. What is this the 80s ? I mean business owners know that they can lose business by not taking plastic. Super lame and inconvenient when you're in a hurry. I won't be returning to Dollar Cleaners because I discovered Dryel, which is suitable for freshening up my dry clean garments. I suggest that if you want cheap dry cleaning go over the hill to Castro Valley, where my mom goes to get her 'fits and coats clean and pressed-- supposedly there is a drive-thru. Stay far, far away from this place! It might just cost you a dollar to have your clothes "cleaned," but don't expect to get them back cleaner than when you dropped them off. My family and I have had several mishaps at this place. I brought my favorite white dress from Benetton here to be cleaned and it came back with yellow stains all over that I couldn't remove. I asked to have them try to get the stains off a second time and it came back worse. They wouldn't reimburse me and I lost one of my favorite dresses. :-( I should have known better than to bring a $100 dress to get cleaned at the "Dollar Cleaners!" My dad had his slacks dry cleaned here and when he got them back, it was full of lint. I guess you can't expect much for a buck, so yes... First of all, I believe there was a change in ownership over the past year since earlier Yelp reviews call this Dry Cleaners "San Lorenzo Cleaners". It is now called "Dollar Cleaners". I had been over-paying a dry cleaners in Castro Valley, plus they never followed directions to iron my shirts with HEAVY starch. So I looked closer to home. Dollar cleaners is in sort of sleazy shopping center (Sorry, but anywhere that a Rasputin store lies, there seems to be a lot of sleazy characters that hang around the parking lot at night times). However, the GOOD NEWS is that Dollar Cleaners does an excellent job most of the time. They are especially more careful when pressing shirt facings and collars, PLUS they follow my directions to use heavy starch that is so stiff, my shirts can stand right up, and walk out the freakin' door!!! So...they are a cheaper price, better service. Every once in a while, I'll get a shirt with a wrinkle pressed into the collar where it will be MOST noticeable. However, they have re-done the shirt with no attitude and given it back to me with a much better pressing job. read more

Dollar cleaner ! That is self explanatory. If you want perfect quality try one that's more than a dollar. But if you are ok with one size fits all, then you can't complain. I take all my dress shirts here. They obviously go through a press machine because everything comes out the same. Collars are bent at the exact spot. Again, dollar cleaner. I also take all my dress pants here. I have to say, my pants come out as nice as the more expensive places. They meet or exceed my expectation, hence the 5 stars. They also get stuff done faster than anyone in the area. Make sure to check your garments because again everything goes through a machine and stuff can get damaged. read more

Funny comment Lisa. As for me, knock on wood but I've had only good experiences here. They are fast and cheap. But I've only been there a handful of times including taking clothes other than mine. As far as hemming is concerned, I think their alterer {for the lack of a better word} is on point. I took a pair of expensive $300 jeans there for tappering and hemming it turned out nice. Lorenzo Cleaners has been taking care of my suits for about three years now, and they are going out of business next month, so I'm shopping for a new place to have my clothes dry cleaned. I brought about 10 suits and 3 top coats/winter jackets here to be cleaned about two weeks ago because I got a coupon in the mail for 3 bucks an item. A suit counts as two items, so for 6 bucks, they still end up being less than half of what I pay at my regular cleaners. I paid 75 bucks for something that would have cost about 300 bucks at Lorenzo Cleaners. You know how they say you get what you pay for, well this place couldn't even claim that. Every single suit that came back was shiny. I mean- it looks like they ironed them. My cashmere top coat has more lint on it than when I brought it in, and it is too wrinkly to wear, it looks like it went in a washing machine. We're talking about at least 4000$ worth of clothes here that may not be repairable. I am going to go back tomorrow when they open to get my money back, because there is no way in hell that I am going to let them touch my clothes again. It's horrible that a good business like Lorenzo Cleaners can't make a living, and people like this thrive because folks are poor and can't afford a real dry cleaning. read more

My parents started coming here in the 80's and they were really good-and really a dollar. By 2000 management had changed and so did the employees. They have the nerve to even charge u more than a dollar! You will go home w/ more stains on your garments than when you came in. They just recently messed up my dad's shirt AGAIN. He had what looked like a piece of candy stuck on his shirt which left a stain. 20 years ago if u had a stain, they would spot treat it, then dip the whole garment in their dry cleaning solution, so u won't get that "ring" around the spot. Now, I think they're just lazy---they spot treat it and give it back to you. Therefore leaving a ring on your garment. If I could give 0 stars, I would. I brought in a wool peacoat and a silk top. My first visit I had no cash and had to come back later with cash (C'mon its 2009! Accept VISA please). About a week later when I picked up my garments I noticed three different spots on my silk top. I asked the lady "Umm what is this?" and she was like, "We didn't put that there." and I was like "Yeah, but you were supposed to clean it." She agreed to have them redo it. The pea coat was fine. A week later. I miss my silk top. When I go over it, not only is one stain still there, it now has a halo or cleaner stuff around it. So I tell the guy "Can you at least just get the halo of crap off my shirt". His response is something along the lines of "I'll try". Another week later. I pick up the shirt. Not much has improved I ask for a refund. The give it up pretty easily and I storm out kinda like a brat. Don't waste your time. read more

Dollar Cleaners is the best! I would take my husband's Oxford tailored work shirts here because I didn't like ironing and for $1.50 per shirt they couldn't be beat. They were even able to accomodate things like his personal choice of light starch for his shirts as well. I highly recommend this quality cleaners! read more

Came here to drop off some dry cleaning since I stop by Walmart pretty often. Brought in four sweaters and one silk top. Everything smelled like Febreeze and my silk top was VERY wrinkled. Were my items even cleaned or just sprayed with Febreeze? The smell is so strong I can't even wear these tops! I have never experienced this issue with my usual spot. I ended up rewashing everything on gentle cycle to get rid of the smell but it still stinks ! Bad idea to come here! The smell is so awful I won't be able to wear them!! It's not cheaper than any other dry cleaning place either! It cost $4.95 to dry clean a sweater and $4.95 to dry clean a silk top. I basically spent $25.00 for my clothes to be ruined. Totally regret bringing my items here! Horrible spot. You're better off putting your clothes in your washer on gentle cycle ! Don't come here ! All those atrocious yelp reviews are all true ! I have been bringing my dress shirts here to be laundered and though it is cheap and the turnaround is quick, you can expect from time to time a few of your buttons to be seared or cracked, especially on the sleeves. The last time I brought in 15 shirts, I noticed 2 of my shirts had buttons cracked on the sleeves. When I pointed this out to them, they had the audacity to want to charge me one dollar per button to replace them. read more

I have been a customer of Dollar Cleaners for at least 15 years, the cleaners is now under new management though the prices have decrease so has the service. I took a new skirt in to be pressed only and it was orange, turquoise, and taupe and it came back pink, baby blue and taupe. When I questioned the staff about the color change he looked at me crazy as if I were a lunatic. When he looked at my tag placed on the clothing by the cleaners he said it had be dry cleaned and when I continued to question him he began to back paddle and tried to change his story...I will not be doing business with this cleaners ever again. Yeah, it says they close at like 7 but they really close at like 6:50 and won't let you in if you get there at 6:55. They have horrible customer service too. Don't, I repeat, DO NOT, get anything altered here. I got a pair of slacks hemmed and it was falling apart on my drive home. I drove back and made them re-do it and the guy gave me a hissy fit. THEY DESERVE ZERO STARS!!!!!!!!! This cleaners is under new management and they are the most RUDE AND ARROGANT sob's on the planet. They have SALE & SPECIAL signs all over the street, their windows and hanging inside their store that they DO NOT HONOR! The signage reads..$2.99 NO LIMIT and once you get in the store they charge you $6.99 and up. The young ARROGANT male at the counter yesterday with the chain tattoo on his arm told me they raised their prices on yesterday (April 24, 2012) and they were not at liberty to honor the $2.99 discounted prices. The cleaners has coupons listed on a website http://www.valpak.com/coupons/display/Dollar-Cleaners/94803/1076702/1074982 where all items should be $2.75 NO LIMIT and they dont honor those either!
