We love this place, especially for washing large comforters and seasonal blankets. As well as the occasional times when you need to do laundry and your washer and dryer are broken. The quality of service is wonderful. If you don't have quarters, they definitely do. While you're waiting for your laundry to be done, you can walk across the parking lot and look at the koi fish at Connie's pet store. read more

I'm a massage therapist and I use them for my massage sheets. Large machines, helpful attendants and the owner is in and out almost every day. They are very clean and have large folding areas. They also have wash and fold services and pay-by-the-pound dry cleaning services. It's a great location for large comforters, Sleeping bags and tarps etc. Almost always really nice people there, not questionable like in some places. First time stopping at this cleaners as I needed some floor pillows cleaned. A 4-legged house guest really liked sitting/leaning on them and after an 8-day stay got a bit stained. I've passed R & J Quick Clean Center many times but never had the opportunity to use them...called up for approx pricing and was given 2 options: have them clean or I could use any of the machines to do it myself. Out of convenience and time, I had them do it (dropped off at 9am on a weekday) and it was ready by early evening! R & J Quick Clean Center is dated (it's been family-owned/run in Castro Valley since 1962) but clean with old-school customer service. Service was friendly, helpful and welcoming! This place is a laundromat with dry cleaning service. They do not have wash and press for shirts. They do have was and fold service. Everything is charged based on weight. My suit came out to be around $10 which is very reasonable priced. Post pandemic, many dry cleaners are charging $15+. The reason I'm giving this place a three star is because my suit was not cleaned properly. There was a crusty stain on the cuff of my suit sleeve. I found 2-3 spots with those crusty stains. I was able to remove it with a wet baby wipes. I would give them another chance because their pricing is fair, but I would inspect my suit and point out areas to treat to them. read more

My California king down comforter is saved! Dry cleaning didn't work and not everywhere has extra large machines so it was nice to find this place. It looks pretty old school inside - machines included - but everything works well and my stuff is clean, what more can you ask for! They have 10+ washers and 10+ dryers, all varying sizes for whatever your needs are. Prices are good, cheaper than some other spots, they sell soap if you forget yours, and have a service to wash and fold your clothes too. My large blankets will be return customers. :) read more

Prices are pretty reasonable and their older dryers seem to work really well. Parking located in the back or street parking. Hours are 8-8pm. They have a pretty clean bathroom on site as well. Staff is pretty friendly. I've taken chances with the surrounding laundromats and this is the only one I've decided to go to. read more

I once again figured it was time to wash my queen size quilt and so returned back to R&J for a repeat of the excellent service I had before. They did not disappoint. Mariah helped me choose the correct size washer to be sure the quilt had ample room to wash well and she helped me choose the right drying temperature to take good care of my favorite bedding. This business is consistently clean, well-run, professional, monitored by the staff to be sure their machines are not being abused or incorrect items being washed there. I can highly recommend them. R&J is awful - instead of dry cleaning my clothes, they ruined them. The first time I dropped off dry cleaning, my skirt came back rumpled, but I gave them a second chance. The next time, my expensive work pants came back stained (they weren't stained when I dropped them off) as if someone had carelessly dropped cleaning chemicals across them, and the material appeared pulled/stretched out in various spots. They are ruined, and I still had to pay for the "dry cleaning"! If you like your clothes, do yourself a favor and get them dry cleaned somewhere else. ANYwhere else. read more

I really liked this laundromat. At first glance you see this business clean and well attended to. You can find several options of washers and some old 80s dryers. There's convenient parking out back and a relax environment. The young lady in her 20s who attends during mid-day hours has provided good costumer service and it's responsive to issues when you ask for her help. I have not tried their dry cleaning yet but I can see the attendant is carefully working on each garment with attention to details. I've also seen many costumers come in to drop off and pick up their laundry, this seems convenient for those days you're limited and can't do your own laundry. There's a restroom available for costumers which is kept clean and ventilated- this is a plus. Washing prices have gone up more than I liked for the small washers in short period of time $2.50, $3 to now $3.50. I'm aware of inflation, Covid etc reasons but the washing is the same most times and the increase does hurts one's budget. read more

Over the hill from my little cottage is this lovely laundry place! I wish I had found it sooner because some of the laundromats in the bay are rough (to say the least). Really clean and the staff is nice! They have a vintage vibe going on, plenty of folding tables. Top things to know: -staff will change your dollars for quarters -dryers are 25 cents for 6 minutes (one full load took one dollar to dry for me, no bulky stuff though) -12lb top loader is 2.00 -there is a parking lot in the back -they have plenty of wheely cart thingies -they are also a dry cleaning place but I didn't come for this and there's a bunch of reviews that did so read those Also bonus, you don't really have to worry about someone stealing all your underwear! I was extremely surprised this place was so clean. We usually go to another laundrymat in CV as our post-camping ritual to get all of our sleeping bags cleaned. We decided to go here, because our normal place was incredibly filthy. We've noticed the declined quality more and more over the years. There is a parking lot behind R&J that looks like it shares with Connie's Pond and Garden. We were there on a Sunday afternoon and it didn't seem too busy. I thought laundry day was typically on a Sunday and seeing this place a bit empty made me really happy. As soon as you enter, you notice the decorations and the cleanliness. There are signs from the ceiling describing what kind of machines they have. We went for the heavy load ones for our sleeping bags. There was someone there the entire time to help with people dropping off dry cleaning and quarter-help. There were all the amenities you needed to get your laundry done with no difficulties: quarter machine, tables, chairs, carts, sink, soap machine, and magazines. The magazines are probably the most important, especially if you forgot to bring your reading material or your phone died. This has become my new post-camping ritual location. I hope to try the dry cleaning services one day. read more

If I could leave ZERO stars I would. I have no idea how these clothes were "dry cleaned". Not only do they smell like Chinese food, my husband's shirts still have his cologne scent and they're still as wrinkled as they were when we dropped them off. I manage the laundry for a couple different yoga studios and I have to say that given my experience with laundromats in the areas, R&J are top notch. It is always clean and the folks that work there are very friendly. Most places have lint and dryer sheets on the floor. Chris at R&J has flowers on the tables, clean floors and as much change as you need. I haven't needed to use their laundering services but I've had plenty of time to observe their practices and I wouldn't hesitate to use that as well if I ever needed. High attention to detail and customer service with a personal touch make this family owned cleaning center a place worth checking out. read more

I went to them for wash and fold, hoping this would alleviate my to do list. I paid $100 and I had to do all the folding. I've used a different service through another place before but this one is closer, so I thought I'd give them a chance. I regret giving them my money as most of my clothes were still damp and none of them were folded. So I had to come home, put them to dry myself and fold them. As a working mother, I need an extra hand. I don't mind paying when the service is complete. Other companies make sure the clothes are ready for the customer to just pull them out of the bag into the drawers/closet. Very disappointed! Two stars because at least my clothes smell good. It was a busy week and I forgot that I needed to get a couple shirts dry cleaned for consecutive events Saturday evening - 50th surprise birthday party and a charity event. I stopped by R&J in a panic. I walked in and the lady at the front desk was cool, calm, collected and such a dang sweetheart. Fantastic dry cleaning establishment! I've been going for about 7 months, and the service has been exceptional. Great customer service and very accommodating. I sometimes get my dry cleaning the same day. The prices are ok, slightly higher than what I'm used to paying ...but it's definitely worth it.
