The people are so rude and just don't care about ANYTHING yes, there are some good employees there but most are rude. Like you walk in and it just feels like you walked into a jail. I do not recommend this place at all. read more

Just walked out & not going back! 6 people waiting in line - Only allow SELF CHECK OUT now! = no cashiers allowed to work only stock shelves. The customer at self-check out credit card was declined - did not have funds. Wants to know where the ATM is - well of course there is not one there! To top it off the store is always a filthy mess & a hazard to walk in through with boxes & stuff piled up everywhere. Will be going elsewhere from now on. read more

I have no idea why Other people are reading the store so low. I have always found it well stocked. The staff is exceptionally helpful. It's well organized. The store is clean. Parking is super easy. Prices are unbelievably inexpensive. I am tough to please. So again I cannot understand why that the store has been rated low by others. read more

Today I had the displeasure of encountering Janis's deplorable customer service skills. I was looking for some cheap glue to glue some art projects together and she was the first person that I approached for help. She was walking around the store ON HER CELL PHONE when she looked over at me with a glare (as though she couldn't be bothered to help me). I said "excuse me can you please show me where the glue is?" she ROLLED her eyes and said "WHAT KIND OF GLUE?" in the snottiest tone. I said "nevermind" and walked away from her. She just went right back on her phone like she was not the worst customer service representative. However, Joshua saved the day. He was even worried that I was waiting too long for my items to be checked out. I asked for Janis name because of how horrible she was. I cant believe she still works there. What an embarrassment to an otherwise amazing store with usually great people. PLEASE PLEASE FIRE JANIS! I don't want her souring my experience at that store ever again. read more

Flyers are posted about masks but only some of the employees wear them. The space is cramped and they're so understaffed (or the staff are all yelling about their weekends or on the cell phones ignoring people) you end up standing in line with for a really long time with people choosing not to follow the mask rules. I had a major incident with this store today. I witnessed something sketchy happen and I decided to go with "see something say something". Corporate seems nice over the phone and I reported the incident. Really sucks because I've been going there since they opened and been super loyal and never said anything about the horrible customer service but sorry, I draw the line at loudly bullying new employees. I tried first to call the store after I left, but there was never an answer. I stopped back by hoping to discreetly talk to the person I saw doing this. She was nowhere to be found in the store, so I waited for a bit and realized the one employee at the register being in training was getting overly stressed out and the employee I came to talk to was just outside on her phone gathering one cart. I thought great! I can discreetly tell her I felt she was treating her trainee shamefully. I did, I kept it quick (I was there for a little over 3 minutes), and didn't cause a scene..she told me oh, our phone broke so we don't actually have one. She had taken my receipt from earlier and thrown it away as she was screaming at the poor girl in training for doing my change wrong. I felt so bad for her... she was shaking and saying "I'm not coming back after my break, this is too much"... anyway I quietly and quickly said what I wanted to say to the offending party and she apologized and acknowledged my concern. So anyway today I went in not thinking anything of it and I hear one of the employees yelling "YOU WANNA TELL ME WHAT YOU WERE DOING HERE THE OTHER DAY FOR THIRTY MINUTES HARASSING MY EMPLOYEE?" and just screaming so loudly at me, and I asked her if she'd like to discuss this discreetly and professionally, to which she wandered out of the store and was out there talking to someone else. I waited for a few minutes and just told her I'd do her survey (the one they offer cash prizes for positive reviews?). I called corporate and they were very helpful. Moral of the story I guess is how DARE try to do what I felt was right. I'm just a customer and got screamed at, not greeted. I hope I can come back and change this review but right now I'm still shaking. I'm a really chill person but when I see someone being mistreated I am going to say something. read more

so understaffed its puzzling to me they stay open. ONE person in the entire store at all times. this is not an exxageration. One person. So that means if 5 people are waiting in line and god forbid one has a coupon or a return? your waiting in line for 30 mins easily. Just to buy that can of cat food. Yup. Also, you can be standing in line waiting for up to 8 mins, i timed it once. While an employee is 2 feet away putting items away on shelves. Oh yes she saw me , but with 0 sense of urgency she stalked that entire shelf before coming over. Personally i have walked out of the store while standing in line 3 times. I just could not waste any more time waiting there so i can make my purchases. EVERYONE has this same complaint about the store, but word on the street is "corporate doesnt care, they are keeping 1 employee" You have lost soooo many customers. and the only reason i stayed was because its across the street and cheap cat food. but prices are now more then competitor stores so now i have no reason to go at all. I like the employees, John and jacklyn...allways nice. but again, no one wants to wait in line for 45 mins to get toillet paper. HIRE MORE PEOPLE!!! AT LEAST 2 WORKING FOR EACH SHIFT. and if there is a long line then for the love of god stop stocking the shelves and jump on a register!! One time (i have a hundred stories) about 7 people were waiting, unpatiently, in line while the one cashier slowly rang up items. FINALLY an employee walks up out of nowhere, yes finally! she is going to help on the register. she walks behind the counter, goes to the other register....then leaves and starts stocking shelves!! i wanted to scream ! I used to work at JCP and they engrained into us, you drop off everything to help a customer. i wish other stores followed that motto, bottom line, i like DG. prices are ok...its near me so its super convieninet. HOWEVER because its so poorly understaffed ,i travel a few streets away to dollar store. this place will be out of business within the year. read more

Dollar General in West Springfield is amazingly clean and extremely friendly. The lines are never long and they always have more than one person working in the store . The customer service is out of this world , I couldn't believe how friendly the managers were in this store . I just want to say thank you to our new West Springfield Dollar General employees because without you that store would never function so flawlessly . read more

I have never hated stepping foot into a store as much as I do Dollar General in Agaeam and boy I can't wait for Dollar Tree to be open soon right next door practically because I have never been treated so poorly going into a store before as I was at Dollar General. The manage not once but twice has accused me of stealing fake nails and hair dye both times while I'm cashing out with my items. Also I was told by her that because I didn't have my receipt for 2 pairs of black yoga pants I bought for work about 3 weeks ago while they had a buy 1 item of clothing get 1 50% off sale, I understand I won't get cash back but to not give me a store credit or anything totally shocked me. I have never heard of a return policy like that before. I would of taken a smaller size which I needed but they didn't have any my size. So I'm looking further into this because after leaving today and getting accused of stealing for 2nd time just did it in for me, so I will be filling further complaints on store and manager. Still appalled by the service. There is one guy that works the registers that I don't know if it's just lazy or what but any normal cashier... Hell even a customer... could ring up and cash out 20 people in the time it takes for him to handle one customer. Also, isn't there some policy that says you don't eat at the register, customers come first? I stood there for 10 mins while he ate his chips and drank his soda right in front of me. When he finally decided to start ringing up items, he continued to snack right on through making his normal slowness that much slower. Ugh!! read more
