The store was very busy by Janithia was very calm and helpful. The went to great lengths to blow up my balloons. The 2 helium tanks in the front of the store were empty. Instead of saying "we are out" she went to the back(out of sight) and emerged a few minutes later with a huge helium tank and a hand truck. I was so thankful and pleased that I asked her if there was anyway to write a letter to let someone know how helpful she was to me. She directed me to the bottom of my envelope and I had to take the time to fill it out. I hope she receives some sort of recognition for her efforts. Thanks for the great customer service Janithia!

Yay!…read more This store has been a mess the entire time I have been going here, with merchandise just heaped on shelves like a child tried to clean up their room by picking up everything from the floor and dumping it onto the shelf regardless of what it is and if it actually belonged there. However, the last few times I have been there, it has been obvious that they are emptying the shelves aisle by aisle, cleaning out the old merchandise, and reorganizing the shelves to make them neat and tidy and properly stocked! This store is usually well-stocked and has a very good selection of items, so having it well organized will be a huge improvement. Whoever is in charge, good work.

I've been told by City workers that the Mayor allegedly tells folks to "steer" tourists complete away from this area and more toward the Aquarium/Park area a few blocks away. No city leader has ever seemed to really try to tackle the problem. I guess they figure if they keep places like this the way they are, they attract people who would otherwise venture into those tourist areas and make the City look bad. As someone else said though, the security manager is INCREDIBLE - a no B.S. type of Robocop kind of guy who will kick the ghetto queens and thieves out like a sack of potatoes, even using his stun gun if need be (there are videos online of this - wonderful). We need 1000 more of him throughout downtown, that's all I can say. He deserves a metal. Anyway - not much a "review", but the fact is, there's little reason for everyday people to go to the Metro Mall. It serves a sub-niche of clientele, which imo does not include conventioneers or tourists; you have other options. Unless you like to practice your survival skills.

They have a good variety of natural and organic food, household, and hygiene items. My friends and I found so many things to buy. They even had a rewards program that the cashier told us about. I realized as soon as I turned the corner that I wasn't even going to make it to the store with my wallet and intestines intact. I tried going around the long way on the busier streets and actually made it within view of the front door. The two young gentlemen loitering at the front made it clear that 11.39 was the best deal I was gonna get for water and soda tonight. I returned to the hotel and happily paid it. I've been going to the bookstore since I was in college and they always have the popular titles and the classics. I went in recently looking for a copy of Tony Browder's 'Nile Valley Contributions to Civilization' (btw - never loan books with the intention of getting them back). They did not have it in stock, but quickly called a 'competitor', determined they had the book, and directed me there. that tells you something about how they conduct business. And unlike the members of the church that wear red and black to the Sunday services, you only need green when you visit the Culture Center. Go here and buy something to raise your consciousness.
