The way to succeed here is having a bit of patience, a will to search, and to just go with the flow. What's pretty fun about this place is that you can grab some high dollar value items if you put in the work. El Remate is closed on Thursdays as they reset each week with new inventory. Depending on the day you go determines how much you spend. Fridays have the newest inventory and every item, I MEAN EVERY ITEM, you check out with is $8 a piece. The payment schedule is as follows: Friday $8 Saturday $6 Sunday $4 Monday $3 Tuesday $2 Wednesday $1 A few things I learned while here. Please respect their policy of not opening boxes on the floor. They have a dedicated room where they'll open it up for you and if you don't want it they'll retape it. The organization is that there is no organization. I did notice more home and tech accessories were towards the left of the store. Bulk food and drink items were in the back of the spot. Looo for the very back wall to the right and you'll see them do pop-up drop offs of various crates. It's a pretty fun way to score some deals. I even found $60 tempurpedic pillows for my king bedroom and got a set for $20 plus a wide variety of other goodies including a whiskey smoker set and a 20lb kettlebell.

This store....has it all!…read more Lots of different things to sell. Toys, relics, religious items, house goods and more. Most had solid pricing. They are a HUGE supplier of fireworks . Wait, people use fireworks other than July 4? Evidently, yes absolutely. . People buy from all around the US. Don't know if fireworks are popular in NM ??? The Godfather. $1100 package f fireworks- estimated would be about 4 hours of a show. They sell about 4-5 of the Godfather annually. I believe him We bought a few on smaller ones, I'm not comfortable with the big ones. Concerned about safety, losing a finger or eye is not acceptable. We used the fireworks that night. Can't take them home to CA! I listed two of the videos. They sold moccasins, but were fairly pricey. $60+. Unless that's a good price, unsure. World famous fudge ...I had to bite. $12 a pound was reasonable. They had 6flavors, I chose chocolate, peanut butter and chocolate with pecan. Fudge was good, but not amazing. Worth getting some, yes. The guy assisting me was super friendly. Chatted about the fireworks and their desert bot (transformer you know! Haha. ). Their mascot , is also available for sale if you are interested. $20k ). Also about his whereabouts, and why he moved from Alaska to NM. Super kind guy. Oh yeah, and it's also a gas station. . So maybe at least come to fill up .

You already know I had to pull over! From the moment I walked into Bowlin's Aleka Flats, the staff greeted me with genuine warmth. The store itself is such a fun place to browse--filled with unique Southwestern treasures like shirts, ponchos, serapes, moccasins, souvenirs, and so much more. Even if you only come for the cookies, you'll probably end up wandering the aisles for a bit. Speaking of cookies... I could see the staff constantly rotating fresh batches, so I knew they weren't sitting around getting stale. I also appreciated that they offered options with and without nuts. We ended up grabbing a dozen because, let's be honest, the price made it an easy decision. Individual cookies are just $0.99 each, but a dozen is only $9. We picked up six original chocolate chip, three sugar pecan, and three chocolate chip pecan cookies. One thing that stood out was watching the employee preparing the cookies while wearing gloves. It's a small detail, but it shows they take pride in food handling and cleanliness, and I always notice those things. The staff was incredibly friendly and even thanked me for stopping by... even though cookies were literally the only reason I came in. And yes, I'm on a road trip, so don't judge me! My kiddos thanked me the second they took their first bite, and that was all the confirmation I needed. These cookies were soft, chewy, fresh, and absolutely worth the stop. If you're driving through, do yourself a favor and pull over. Grab a dozen--you'll thank yourself later. I'll definitely be making this one of my regular road-trip cookie stops!

I decided to check out their Socorro location, not realizing it was part of a chain with more stores closer to the west side of El Paso. I'm so glad I made the trip! The store itself is clean, bright, and well-organized--kind of a mix between Dollar Tree and Daiso, with a wide variety of products at very reasonable prices ranging from $1 to $40, especially for larger items like grills and discadas. What really impressed me was the selection and quality of items. They carry everything from kitchen gadgets to outdoor equipment, and I found some great deals--like a propane grill I usually get at Korean stores, but for a much lower price. I also loved their bamboo section, which was super affordable and well-stocked. The plastic organization items were of better quality than those at Dollar Tree, and I even picked up a broom and dustpan that were sturdy and useful. There were plenty of associates available, all super helpful and quick to assist, which made shopping a breeze. They were busy putting things back in place, and the store felt super clean and well-maintained. While I didn't have time to explore the makeup section, it looked promising. One thing I would advise is not to bring kids unless you're prepared for a little chaos (I learned that the hard way, haha). We ended up spending about $50, and it was a fun and successful little shopping trip. The best part is that unlike Daiso, where everything is in Japanese, I could actually understand what the products were for, which made the shopping experience more straightforward. If you're in the area or even closer to the west side, I'd highly recommend checking out GMD Stores. It's a great place for some good finds at great prices. Oh, and by the way, I asked several employees what "GMD" stands for, and none of them seemed to know--maybe a mystery to solve for another visit!
