Lady closed door in front of my face and locked it, made a hand motion saying no/stop. They closed half an hour early.

P.S. great place to catch up with your friends and neighbors John C.

She always looks miserable, this is just the first time it came my way. Didn't smile a single time, didn't greet me, I say thank you and get no response, and as I'm walking away pretty quietly I say " Welp, have a great day." And as I'm a little further she says "It's okay, we'll put it back" (which is literally your job). Referring to my basket that the cashier usually takes with a smile. Her cashier # is 111 and was at the first register. I'll forget about this in 5 minutes, I don't dwell on irrelevant people, I was nice enough to walk away, but those kind of actions will ruin someone else's day and/or keep them from going back. I love supporting local businesses and I'd hate to see people avoid a shopping experience because of ONE miserable employee.

The last owners Walt and Steph were fantastic and the employees were always soo friendly. This new ownership jacked up the prices, lowered the food quality, and the employees are awful! There's always a different face, never a "hey, how are you?" Nothing. I got a lottery ticket and paid with cash and they girl acted like I was the biggest inconvenience. Threw the money in the drawer and huffed as she had to count out change. This most recent was a pepperoni Stromboli. They are a quarter of the size they used to be and over double the price. I will definitely travel further just to avoid this place anymore. Almost $12 for 6 bites of dough, sauce and pepperoni.

I have really been missing out and I know as sure as I am sitting here typing this that I will stop in on my way to or from my home town again and again. My home town, Johnstown, Pa. Is known for their submarine sandwiches, referred to more often as a sub. Living and traveling all over the country I have now come to the conclusion that the only place to get a submarine sandwich is in my home town, but seeing this store is only twenty minutes away and close to the turnpike, I believed them when they had "Best subs in town" posted outside. Nada, their subs are like anyone else's "subs" in this country, six inches long and on a soft roll, where a Johnstown sub is on an 18-24 inch long crusty loaf of bread, layered with meats and cheeses, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, hot peppers, if you like and drizzled with an herb infused oil. However, all was certainly not lost, this country store is wonderful! Rows of very inexpensive fresh produce, aisles of locally made jams, noodles, canned goods, snacks and specialty items. Homemade baked goods, including gobs, a nice sized deli with incredible prices, fresh butchered meats and poultry as well as a frozen food section. They have really neat hot or cold food items ready to go like breakfast burritos, chicken salads, well many different salads and desserts, but have you ever had a stuffed hash brown? Seriously folks these are to die for and when I asked what was in them half the store's customers and most of the employees turned to me with oohs and awes telling me how good they were. Oh my gosh, they were stuffed with gooey cheese, browned sausage and onions and I got the last one, yay! I also got a small thinly sliced and lean tavern ham and Swiss cheese sandwich for my drive home, which was very good along with some pickled eggs for hubby and I'll eat the beets. They will make you a "sub" just like Subway or any other place makes them ( I call these hoagies ). I had a cooler in my car, bought a bunch of stuff and a bag of ice and saved lots of money. Oh and the gallon jugs of Galliker's ice tea that I was loving in Johnstown and buying at the Honey Bear two for five bucks were four for five bucks here, so I grabbed four more gallons. The folks are very friendly, everyone seemed to know each other by name. A nice sized laundromat is attached to the building and the place is clean, a little worn, but with the years of traffic they have received it adds character.
