World Market thrift was one of the thrift stores I hit up during my weekend birthday thrifting extravaganza. It's nestled near two other local thrift shops - Goodwill and The Hope Center, all within walking distance. It's on a busy street and has a small parking lot which is nice since the neighborhood is mixed commercial/residential and street parking would be difficult. There's a bar across the street that had several patrons outside smoking every time we drove past. The police station is close by, however even then I'd be leery of visiting at night. The shop itself is small but clean and appears to be freshly remodeled. It houses all the departments of a larger thrift store; clothes, house wares, toys, crafts, linens, art, etc just on a smaller scale. The house ware department (not the dishes and glassware which are highlighted elsewhere) is rather tight but not impossible to social distance. Prices were reasonable - less than Goodwill but more than a yard sale. Everything was clean and organized well. The highlight of this store and the department they showcase the most is the dish and glassware. It's lovingly arranged on clear shelving and sparkles with cleanliness. Complete sets were decoratively arranged and an inventory of the contents labeled. Many of the sets were vintage china sets. If you are in the market to replicate your grandma's good china this is your spot! Linens were also exceptional. A miss for me was the clothing as it felt too matronly. However the brands (Coldwater Creek, etc) and quality were good meaning care was put into their sorting process. I just felt like stylistically they were for another age demographic. Jewelry pieces were stylish; I just couldn't find anything I couldn't live without. One thing worth noting is the lone cashier, her friendliness permeated the store. I'm not sure if she is paid or a volunteer but she's a true asset. She greeted everyone upon entry as well as walked around talking with customers. She also was the only one of all the thrift stores I visited in Hagerstown to allow me, as a traveler (unbeknownst to her of course) to use their rest room. That rest room by the way was gorgeous with decorative tile floor to ceiling and upgraded flooring and fixtures it was better suited for a residence. I did leave without making a purchase but would make a point to visit again if I find myself back in Hagerstown. read more

I stop into the World Treasures shop frequently. I am always greeted with a friendly hello. The staff are so helpful when I ask if a particular item is available and they give you plenty of space while you are shopping. Shopping at this store is such a pleasure. You can take your time browsing and often I see that item I have been looking for. There is a convenient parking, amazing prices, wide variety of items, and pleasant sales clerks. Why go to a pricey store when you can shop at World Treasures and benefit others? read more

I enjoy visiting World Thrift often. It is rare that I don't leave with something. I can find clothing for me and my husband (often brand name) at a more than fair price. I've bought numerous household items, furniture, and even knickknacks for myself and for others. The store is clean and organized, and the volunteers are super nice and friendly. This is a great store for interesting finds. I believe they only keep the best of their donations and forward the rest to others who can still make some profit. They have something for everyone, and have a friendly staff. They operate for MCC to raise funds to help not only Here locally but across the world. It's well worth a visit each week (or more often) as inventory is always changing. read more

Small thrift shop that has been at this location for 35 years! Run by volunteers and profits Mennonite Central Committee which supports relief work of the Mennonite church around the world. Has housewares and clothing , some small furniture and small appliances . Prices are less than comparable thrift stores. Inventory changes quickly . read more

I used my reusable blue bag to get the 10% discount. I asked the clerk if she gave me my discount and she said yes, she did. well, when I got home I looked at my receipt and I did not get the discount. I took my bag and receipt back in a few days later and the manager accused me of lying and said that I probably didn't have my bag when actually it was her employee who lied to me about getting the discount. my purchase was twenty some dollars and so the discount would have been around $2. They lost a customer over a refusal to give a 10% discount that was only a few dollars. The manager blamed me and said it was my fault for not checking my receipt before i left the store. (It's my fault for being too trusting I guess? LOL.) Also, I noticed that they dump their excess stock off at other thrift stores in the area in order to avoid paying landfill fees (not only did I recognize the items, but I also recognized the price stickers as no other store in the area uses them). What I found to be hilarious is that the other thrift store sold it by the box full for $1 as they knew it was not really desirable stuff! read more
