Things are a bit expensive at this dollar general. It's better than the rest of the area I guess but not what you'd expect

You will see Ollie's bucktooth grin along with funny sayings all over the store. In 1994 the company started their loyalty program called Ollie's Army which you can sign up for on their website. For every $1 you spend, you get one point. Points move you up the rank and earn you discount coupons off your purchase. According to the company, Ollie's Army get you "good stuff...even cheaper". Currently there are 408 stores in 28 states, several of which are in Florida. Ollie's purchases company liquidations, overstocks, and older items that haven't sold, and resells them in their stores for a discount. You can expect to see name brand items. Ollie's sells a little of everything, cleaning supplies, garden items, books, toys, food, health and beauty, automotive, holiday decorations, home improvements, electronics, flooring, housewares, and so much more. I had previously shopped in the West Palm Beach and Delray stores and they were great for stocking up on hurricane supplies. Ollie's always has a ton of inexpensive K-cups and cheap and unusual snacks. I usually grab some candy as incentives for the kids at school. On this trip I found the snack size bags I use to pack portion controlled snacks for my school lunches. This is the kind of store where you come in for one thing and pretty soon you have a cart full of stuff. Check back often because the merchandise changes frequently and you will always find something new.

They seriously have just about everything you can think of. I personally love shopping here for patio furniture and décor--tables, cushions, pillows--you name it. Anywhere else, patio stuff can get really expensive, but their prices are much more reasonable. I recently picked up two small side tables for my patio--one shaped like an orange and the other like a lemon--and I was honestly impressed with the quality. They have a nice weight to them and feel well-made. I went on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't busy at all, which made for an easy, stress-free shopping trip. The store itself is huge, with a really wide variety of options, from home décor to patio pieces and even faux plants. The only downside was I didn't find one specific item I was looking for, but luckily there's a HomeGoods right across the street, and I ended up finding it there. My advice: start here first for the deals, and if you can't find what you need, head over to HomeGoods.

We both shopped around, my husband went one way to look at things he was interested in, and I went a different way to explore the store. No one ever greeted or spoke to me. It was my first time in the store and they had lots of nice items. I did have questions about some items I wanted to purchase, but was never acknowledged the entire time. I walked through the store from the dishes, clothing, to the furniture side. One tall dark haired woman walked past me at least 4 times in the store but only spoke to my husband across the store a couple of times. I was very sad when I left the store. He told me so much about this store and I was excited to get there. Not sure what happened here, but I wonder if it was because we are an interracial couple that I was never acknowledged, but my husband was.

And some clothing, of course, and accessories. You have to wander around a bit to see everything as it's not grouped all together by categories. Some prices seemed a little high, but it is for a charity. They do offer sale discounts on different days on different items. And Wednesday is the senior day for 25% off. We did observe some local shoppers using a loyalty card as well. This card gives a discount to the users, but I'm not sure of the details. We didn't buy anything here when we visited, but as at all thrift stores the inventory changes often.

What sets Publix apart from their competitors, well, there are actually a few huge differentiators. One reason is that their customer service is top notch. They really understand that the customer comes first and they do all they can to always make each trip to Publix a positive experience. They also have great BOGO (buy one, get one free) deals. Two for the price of one is always a great deal. We also can never forget their subs made in their deli (affectionately called "Pub subs"). Being from New Jersey, one of the great places to get a sub, it us hard to state that a supermarket offers a great sub, but with Publix, it is a 100% true statement. My go-to subs are usually their Italian sub or their roast beef sub. Both are great choices and I would definitely recommend either of these great subs. This particular Publix location is definitely a good reflection of the Publix brand. The staff is friendly, the store has a pleasant enough ambiance while you do your grocery shopping, and again, we cannot forget their subs. I would definitely recommend this particular Publix supermarket. If you are in the area, go check them out.
