We started researching it and found that they will use some kind of saline solution (Sodium Tripolyphosphate) to preserve the longevity of the fish. The effect of this solution is an exaggerated puffing of the fish enlarging it and turning the fish into an inedible rubber texture. Awful! How in a place surrounded by water and local fishing, can fresh fish not be in markets - but sold like it is fresh?

The store appeared to be clean and well stocked. As typical at most Aldi locations, there were only 2 cashiers on duty but they kept the check out lines moving quickly. On Wednesday, August 27th, 2025, I was leaving the store/garden center with my purchase and receipt in hand when Joel the Walmart greeter asked to see my receipt....I had NO problem at all with providing him this information, he was doing his job. He then started questioning me about a product that didn't scan correctly on my receipt against the barcode on the box. I never even looked at what was scanned at the checkout lane I paid for the items I purchased. After he pointed out the discrepancy, I IMMEDIATELY, went to the Customer Service Counter to point out this. He/Joel the greeter all but ACCUSED me of theft in front of shoppers and other employees. I AM NOT A THIEF. I purchase items. I do not program Walmart's scanning system.

In the past six months, I returned Publix brand milk, four times, which spoiled a week before the expiration date. Many of the fruits Publix calls fresh, are frozen in the center and by the next day, turned rotten. I've returned oranges, pears and other fruits more than I care to mention. A favorite of mine is eggplant which is half rotten as it's being stacked on the shelves. Unforgivable!! Prices increased substantially as the quality of many products has gone out the window. The horrible reality is Publix isn't the only guilty market. As mothers shop, you can hear the word "no" repeadely being said to children mainly because the budget won't allow extras.

While in the new Publix on Cove Road my husband asked did they have ice cream cakes and they said yes, we make them to order. I never knew they did that! Finally a true birthday cake with the ice cream of your choice. The cake was delicious and looked fabulous. White and chocolate cake layers with cookies and cream ice cream.
