Everyone who works there is friendly and helpful. I've always referred to them as "big lots, on steroids." The place is huge! They primarily sell manufacturers extras and overstock, and maybe the previous models of things. But, everything is good. Groceries, snacks, clothes, toys, home, and garden, housewares, kitchenware, tools, carpeting even furniture. If you see what you like, buy a little bit extra, because there's a good chance it won't be there the next time you come in. The stock always rotates. That's what makes it fun. It's like a giant treasure hunt. Also, if you sign up for a free "Ollie's army" membership, they will send you information on discounts that you can get off of their already great prices. I am a fan. But Ollie's, met me there with their ceramic rectangular planting boxes at a fraction of the cost of what Home D.+Lowe's charge. The space is huge. And like their website states, Ollie's is the biggest "retailer of closeout merchandise & excess inventory". Aisles are also filled with no-frills brands. Some products are better than others so do your research while you're here and read. For instance, I saw this unknown sheet set brand and when I noticed the polyester fabric label, I put it back quick. From canned goods, toiletries, garden supplies, outdoor, books, toys, etc, etc, etc, etc, you can rack up. Cheap shopping, that's all it is and I like it- depends what I'm getting. Service was pleasant and the cashier helped me sign up for their loyalty program so I can accrue points and discounts for the future.

I was surprised by some of the minimalist-modernish stone, marble, rattan and black matte accessory pieces I saw when I came to this Big Lots in Kingston. Big L. is probably one of the better discount stores for just about everything. From household products, health and beauty supplies, gardening, hobbyish things, etc, etc, etc, this place could probably satisfy your every need dirt cheap. Some shelves looked a bit bare, but some are nicely packed with so much stuff. Aisles are spotless and nothing is out of place. Service is super nice and this is another discount store where you can also sign up for their loyalty program and rack up points and other rewards for future shopping visits.

Their employees are knowledge(although a little shovey) but they know they are in competition with other stores nearby(so they do TRY to treat you fairly). Personally, out of the three dollar stores in Kingston(the others being the one near Aldi, and the one out by Foxhall Ave), this is one of the better stores I'd shop at. I found the prices were fair and the convenience incredible. It actually made my life easier as a teacher. This year our school was hosting a family event and my colleague and I needed to pick up a few things for our event. We both pulled in at the same time 7:45pm when someone ran to the front door and hung up a sign that said CLOSED. I parked and got out of my car and walked to the front doors the store hours clearly stated open until 9:00pm. I knocked on the front and side door and no one answered. At 7:55pm two men exited the building and stated that one of them had to go to another job and could only work until 8:00pm. The next day I called the manager and was told that he is away on deployment and the assistant manager was rude and said that having the wrong hours on her store job was the least of her worries and asked if I would like a job. I will never shop in the Tannersville, NY Dollar General ever again. It was made extremely clear that my business was not needed, I now see why so many were against this chain building in our town.

Plenty of parking…read more Dollar Tree shares a plaza with Price- Chopper, Mickey D's, a Liquor Store, Rainbow retail store, Children's Dance Studio and Cosmo Proof. Unfortunately, they often function with one cashier so the line does tend to get long at any given time. Dollar Tree prices keep climbing but you can still get cleaning supplies, and most household goods for less than $2. Today I noticed some cleaning supplies, like brooms, mops and dusters priced at $1.50, while foil and plastic wrap are up to $1.75. I don't even head to the aisles marked at $3 and above because I remember when everything was truly $1. Makes you wonder at what point will they have to change their name to Miscellaneous items at Miscellaneous Prices Depot. I may be reaching.. I'm also able to learn some Spanish (because I don't speak natively, so I always ask her "como se dice" ("how do you say"), and whether I need raisins, spices or something else, she shows me what isle and she pronounces the word in Spanish so I can learn. It's refreshing, honestly. Kevin is also very kind and cool! I always see him in the cat food section, ready to help customers. These small interactions make my day a tad bit better. The general quality of commercial and the few organic brands, prepared foods, cheeses, etc are fine. Some of Hannaford's stock is tailored to the local community. For example, I feel these folks offer more bison cuts and even think there's more turkey here than any other local supermarket I shop at in Westchester County. It's easy to rack up points with their free loyalty program which you can use to get money off your entire grocery bill with those $5, $10 (listen, I'll take it) or receive those coupons to spend on individual offers. Price is fair for the area and service at the cashier is pleasant. .
