Prices at Giant, like everywhere, seem to keep creeping up but if there was one and only one store we had to go to, regardless of prices, this would probably be it. As it is, we usually visit three stores to get certain things at each one and Giant, this one, is usually on our weekly shopping trip. We don't like self-checkouts and thankfully, this store seems to make an effort to have several manned registers. Thanks for that.

The store is huge and just feels more complete than the store in Boiling Springs. Their meat department has a great selection and I would recommend anyone looking for steak to go here for quality. Yes, their "deals" often involve buying meat in bulk, but even for the extra dollar a pound to buy it without the deal, you get what you pay for. Their ground sirloin is out of this world for things like hamburger helper or tacos! The soups are another highlight - it's like walking into my grandma's kitchen! Homemade style soups are always available on their hot bar, and some are prepackaged cold. Our favorites are their Corn Chowder, Lobster Bisque, and their Corn and Shrimp Chowder. The only downside is the price. You get it by the pound, and if you use the big container, you could easily spend almost $10. That's a bit steep for maybe two portions, but the quality really is amazing. They run great deals on things like frozen pizza! Their pies and baked goods are decent quality too, though I'd recommend getting these early in the day as many are made overnight. Fresh in the morning doesn't always mean fresh in the evening! Cat food and litter is reasonable as well. Two 20 pound containers of litter is maybe a dollar or two more than one 40 pound container at Target or Walmart, so it really isn't worth the drive when we can just grab this at Karns. North Middleton got a great boost when Karns brought groceries back to this side of town!

I like to review the weekly newspaper fliers sent through the mail so that I can find out the weekly deals and plan my shopping trip there accordingly. They have a nice deli section; kudos to Michelle G who works there--she is always friendly and helpful! The deli specials are very good and the ready-made foods are nice for when you have to rush a meal. Ready-made foods are of a nice variety, including options like calzone, chicken alfredo, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, rotisserie chicken, cheeseburgers, hog maw (PA Dutch), coleslaw, potato salad, and various kinds of pasta salads. The menu is limited right now, but they have all of the hot espresso drinks. We tried a vanilla latte and an americano. Both Items were solid! The owner Kevin was super friendly! They also have cinnamon rolls with cream cheese icing on the side, and it was amazing. They are made fresh by Amy, and my only regret is that we didn't order a second because my husband and toddler devoured it and I only got one bite They will also be serving Joan + Joe Coffee cold brew in the future! The pastrami was melt in your mouth good. It would be greatly itself with some cabbage and green beans for dinner. You can cut it with a fork it's so tender. Even with a line of people ahead of me when I got here the service was quick, pleasant and great conversation with the staff and customers.
