We walked in and did the looking on our own for a minute or two and then just straight up asked where it was. Turned out they were out of it. Can't really hold that against them as this is a fairly busy place for people to pick up last minute items. What stands out here is that they don't hold back or keep secrets. This shop is about 20-25 minutes away and is the closest that I could find, so I was excited. Upon entering, I noticed a real estate sign outside the building and heard a small dog barking. (I personally don't like quilt shops that have cats or dogs, but that is just me.). I carefully closed the door, and greeted the woman behind the counter. I asked how the shop was arranged, and she replied it was by color, with the whole bolts downstairs and the half and whole yard cuts upstairs. I replied that was great and that I would need some fat quarters, too. She sharply and rudely shot back that oh, no, she was ONLY cutting half and whole yards as she was going out of business. I said okay and stood there for perhaps another 10 seconds, then walked out. -There is no posted notification of the cutting policy, nor did she tell me that when I called this morning. -There are a dozen different ways to have explained that to me, such as "The only fat quarters I sell are the ones previously cut. I am going out of business and am only cutting such and such now." -She can choose to discount or not. I don't care. But if I am going to be penalized and need to spend more than I want to for more fabric than what I want, there should have been some concession. She got a single star because she did have an amazing array of merchandise and colors. Too bad she missed out on several hundred dollar sale. In this economy, you can't afford to be cranky when you sell a luxury item like quilting fabric. I did look at her website and saw that last year there were some health problems amongst her staff. Otherwise, I would say her demeanor and customer service were what drove her out of business.
