I recently read in a Chattanooga newspaper that all Food City grocery stores are independently owned. And if this is indeed a fact, this location knows what the words 'customer service' means. They are truly ON POINT with everything they do. The stock boys and girls, cashiers, florist, and just generally all-around nice people are always here whenever I come in to shop. Especially kind and helpful is the butcher in the meat department. Twice this young lady has helped me with issues and provided me with solutions I had no idea about. For instance, I had been searching all over Chattanooga, looking for chorizo for a hearty, delicious soup that we love. We couldn't find any store that carried chorizo, can you believe that? We were craving our soup and were not going to stop looking until we found our chorizo. In the past, at times I got a batch of chorizo that was way too spicy. We like the spicy, but not too too spicy! Who knew there is actually a way to decrease the spiciness in chorizo that's already made too spicy, packaged and labeled for sale! I could tell just by looking at the package by it's red color that it was of the more spicy variety and was hesitant. My meat lady told me of a way she knew how to cut the spiciness without compromising flavor. She passed on valuable information to me as her customer that day. Customers generally don't forget such a kindness, or a great tip like that either. Another time my butcher was describing an item to me and she told me where it was located. She was busy stocking meat. I must've had a dumb look on my face lol because without missing a beat, she immediately stopped stocking the meat trays and without making me feel stupid, she took me over to show me the item she wanted me to know about. Being new to Chattanooga, I'm not used to such kindnesses from supermarket employees. I am not sure if this all has to do with the kindness of people in general in the town of Chattanooga or if my meat lady is just that kind and good. I'd like to think the latter, but either way is good in my eyes. :) The grocery store is generally a bit pricier than other grocery store chains in the area, with the exception of Whole Foods and Fresh Market. This is a larger Food City location than most others I've been to, but I love this one for its beautiful clean produce, fresh lean meats, and some items that can only be described as southern commodities. I was told it's that way because the associates would bring them out for you . I remember the days when they would insist on helping you out to your car. Food City is a chain grocery store in Chattanooga. I like this one a little better than most for a…read morenumber of reasons. First and foremost, even though this is a smaller store square footage wise than most of the other Food Citys, this store manages to pack in all the essentials and that means they carry and will always have the important ones you need. Sales are usually very good and well worth stocking up during these times. However, they decided to make a store-wide change recently, and not geared toward the consumer's best interest. One item in particular, Coke Classic, has always been on sale forever: three (3) 12-pack cartons in cans for from $11 to $14, but it is usually $12. That is a great deal when the normal unit price is $6.58/each. BUT! In the last 2 weeks, the 'sale' has changed to: two (2) 12-pack cartons in cans for $12. So in essence, the sale has completely disappeared across the board at all stores in this area!! I have had to find a sale elsewhere until they change it back because I refuse to accept something parading as a sale but it is not! Please change back to the Coke sale! People are struggling financially in the food arena and this little perk helped families everywhere who enjoy their Coke :) Around the Valentines Day holiday, I went out on a whim and discovered some pretty doughnuts at the bakery. I bought several of them, decorated with sweet, delicious pink and white buttercream icing! They were so yummy! So much better than Krispy Kreme or Dunkin Donuts. I find the other two's doughnuts to be laden with shortening or lard or something heavy, and they're tasteless to boot. Food City's doughnuts are cakey and creamy-frosted pillowy dreams! As if it's all sweets you're thinking that I'm buying, haha that's not true! The produce selections are fresh, clean and everything is always neatly placed in rows which makes it super tidy. In fact, I prefer this location for my veggies because they are always fresher and cleaner than other Food City stores in this area. Something to remember is that in particular, I find that their bagged potatoes and free-range organic eggs are always fresher than the ones I get at their other locations. There is a decent sized bakery with various breads. They even have a rack filled with artisan breads from Bluff View Bakery. There is also an impressive gourmet cheese shop with enough varieties to put together an impressive charcuterie board, and there also is a beautifully stocked floral department with separate stems, pre-made bouquets, pre-arranged bouquets in vases and planters, decorated with bows and seasonal trinkets, plus potting soil and gardening tools to round out the repertoire. This location does not have a bank or a pharmacy attached, but I don't need either when going to this branch. The people who work at this Food City are more friendly than at others plus they seem to have a classier professionalism than at other local stores. The clerks in the service department consistently complete returns without any problems and always do so with smiles on their faces. Also conveniently located in this shopping center is a large liquor store right next door, a full service UPS store, and a newly built free-standing Starbucks. You would do well to make this your store for shopping, and prices are consistently a bit lower than at Publix grocery stores.

She was extremely helpful and said she could show many any of them and she proceeded to pull out one from her pocket that she uses and let me test the weight and feel. so i'm gonna preface this review by saying i work customer service so i know how it can be, im not…read moreblaming the workers and everybody i encountered was nice but just the whole experience was frustrating. i was here about a week ago around 10:00pm. i only had a few items and didnt have my debit card. i dont live around here so i figured i would connect my card to walmart pay. i did that in the car no problem. so i went to do self checkout and scanned the qr code. it wouldn't accept my card which was odd. i decided to scan the items from my phone using the bar code. it was very frustrating and was giving me a bar code to scan which wouldn't scan in the system. a worker came over and said walmart pay is down and id have to go see customer service. she was nice enough about it and its not her fault it wasn't working so i went. there was no representative at customer service so i was waiting a few minutes. a cashier came over and said it was closed. obviously not her fault either but i did find it annoying that the store was still open while customer service was closed. i feel like customer service should be avaliable the entire day so if something like that happens they can be able to help. i ended up having to put my stuff back and have my parents buy me the stuff i needed. i'm glad to learn walmart is finally going to start accepting apple pay. it definitely will make instances like this less frequent. i do think however the customer service desk should be open from the beginning to end of the day because it will make it much more convenient for customers.
