The first thing you run into is that you have to put down a 25 cent deposit to get a grocery cart. The selection is limited but the prices are very good. Today we came in for frozen seafood but also bought bread, chicken sausages, cheese slices, avocados, milk and a package of tortellini. They don't have grocery bags but some boxes are available. Better yet, bring your own bags. Then if you return your cart to where you got it you get your quarter back.

Couple that with unusually late hours, friendly staff who know your name, a decent produce selection complete with a gourmet offering of locally made Esther Price Candies and you're good to go. The prices seem a little higher than an in-town store, but it's a price I am willing to pay for the convenience of having a store very close by in this rural area, and I am happy to support them. They seem to be one of the last grocers who carry on the tradition of offering a free cookie for the kiddos too (you only have to ask the baker!) which as trivial as it seems, means a lot to us! I remember looking forward to mine as a kid, and am always sad to hear more and more large stores are not carrying on that "good will" tradition of American Grocers of days gone by.
