When I first moved to the area I had never heard of a "UDF" or United Dairy Farmers. To me, this…read moreparticular business looked much like another gas station you'd stop at for fuel, coffee or a pre-packaged unhealthy snack. What a treat it was to go inside one day and be proven fantastically wrong! What luck! This particular UDF is kept beautifully clean, seems to treat their employees well based on the fact that I see the same people there continuously and they are so very friendly and wonderful to us, and not only does it function as a gas station with awesome fuel prices (especially if you use their fuel reward program, which discounts your gas as you purchase food etc from them inside) they also, to my great pleasure, carry their own brand of ice cream, have their own adorable little ice cream parlour complete with adorable chairs and tables nestled in the back with a view of a beautiful little garden, and a tree with a happy bird's nest that I cannot wait to watch get used come spring, but even yet, they have a fantastic selection of coffees complete with a complimentary syrup and mini-marshmallow garnish station for topping their many coffees. You'll find one to suit every taste; everything from super hyped up caffeinated versions to seasonal specialties such as Pumpkin Spice, invariably the best Pumpkin Spice coffee I have ever tasted in my life! They sell their coffees ground, also among other things of their brand name. To add the icing on the proverbial cake, they have a great donut case that gets a fresh delivery of Busken donuts every morning. It is like having a Baskin Robbins, meets Starbucks, meets Dunkin Donuts, right in your gas station, staffed by friendly people you've felt you've known forever. Brilliant! Ok, perhaps this is not the place to get a mocha, but you get my drift don't you? It's pretty neat! I'd venture to say adorable. In the little ice cream parlour you will find many varieties of ice cream available nearly 24/7, some rotating seasonal flavors that dare I say are very delicious (pumpkin pie and santa's cookies come to mind) and a smiling friend behind the counter eager to assist you in sampling them all! I regularly make a habit of coming on "Mommy Son Dates" here for ice cream or donuts with my little one, sitting in the little child's table they have so kindly and thoughtfully provided for their pint sized customers (Get it? Get it? Pint? Oh, never mind!) complete with a stack of children's books just begging for us to read together. It truly is a beautiful thing, each time we do this! To think such a little gesture on their part could mean so much to us. I cannot say much for the Buskin donuts, beyond that one type of donut, the "Kettle Donut" is arguably the best in the case, and the rest, sadly miss the mark but that's hardly UDF's fault! Luckily, the folks who run the place seem to understand that and keep the Kettle donuts very well stocked comparatively. They are so sweet too, as they allow us to get our donuts and coffee then set up a little donut feast in the ice cream section. We just adore this place, the staff, and the provisions thereof. What a neat place to have nearby! I will also attest that buying our donuts, ice cream, milk and juices there has gotten us enough rewards using their gas discount program to significantly ease the hardship of soaring gas prices in the down economy. I really appreciate that! In conclusion, UDF is so much more than a gas station! They have become a great asset to this area and the neighborhood they reside, which is a lot more than most gas stations can say. We love having them in the neighborhood, and love the familiar friendly faces we see each day along our routine, so to speak. They have delicious ice creams, locally made, great milk, fresh and inventive coffee varieties, and most of all, those delicious kettle donuts all served with a smile. I hope they never change!

The floors are always polished and shining, the produce department is usually well-stocked with quality produce, and the deli appears to be clean and sanitary with a nice selection of meats and cheeses to choose from. During my visit on Nov. 9, I waited at the deli counter for almost 30 minutes before it was my turn to place an order. It was approximately 2pm and only one employee was working in the deli. At first, I was very annoyed by how long I had to wait, but by the time it was my turn, I felt sorry for the deli worker. She was doing the best she could by herself and kept her cool with numerous customers waiting to be helped. Usually deli customers must take a number and wait for their turn, but the number dispenser has been missing for more than a month. It's not easy to keep track of who was waiting ahead of me and who arrived after me. The deli worker apologized for the wait and was sweet and professional. I've heard that they simply cannot get people to work, so she is stuck trying to cover the entire department herself. There are certain areas of the store that are roomy and easy to navigate while other areas of the store have numerous large displays in the middle of the aisles making it a complete cluster! The customers tend to be rude and have a sense of entitlement, so they block the aisles, take their good old time, cut in front of people, and don't respect the personal space of others. Society today... My biggest complain about Kroger is their weekly featured saving items that require the customer to select digital coupons in order to get the sale price. I successfully select the coupons and meet all of the requirements in small print, but I always get cheated. I hear this from many people. It is difficult for the elderly as well especially if they do not use a smart phone.

I review the bad and the good. So, I am very saddened to finally get an opportunity to talk to one of the Fairborn Kroger's employees that I have called about, went online about, and personally talked to a manager about say she hasn't received any praised about a review I reported. Her name is Sharon, she monitors the Uscan at Fairborn's Kroger. She is an epitome of customer service, I go to the Fairborn store about 4 times a week (I try to stay out of the Xenia Store as much as possible) there has not been one time that she has not greeted me with a smile, offered help when it looks like I'm struggling, and thanked me as I'm leaving. That is customer service, and she should be acknowledged. DO BETTER FAIRBORN KROGERS!!!!!!!
