It's almost unbelievable you would ever see some of these items in Youngstown, but there they are, and at a price you can actually afford. What makes Mel's Habitat different from other local consignment shops is that it caters to individuals. You won't find many things for the person who wants to look like everyone else; but you WILL find that one of a kind piece that you refuse to buy, can't stop obsessing over, and return as soon as she opens the doors so you can bring that beauty home. If there's an item that I need, I can usually find it at Marc's. They don't carry every brand name, but they do have a good representation of most everything in stock, at reasonable pricing.

I've bought everything from MCM wicker to homemade plaster face masks-- who I have named are Harold and Sam-- to odds and ends dinnerware and appliances. (Did you know you can still find glass Tang pitchers??) I'm also a huge fan of their photo frames and art collection... Everything is priced to move, and I have bought beautiful antique frames for my own artwork for a fraction of the typical cost. These prices can't be beat! I'm addicted to this experience, and we go out of our way to visit Granny each time we come to Warren. She is the best! I have found a friend in her and it makes it even more fun to visit the store. You really won't often get this kind of special interpersonal interaction at a store anymore. This place is a cannot-miss if you're into affordable antiques and cleaned up secondhand pieces. Everything there begs to come home with me. It's both amazing and horrible, lol. Also, fwiw, this place is quietly/modestly a gay- and trans- friendly environment. I was able to take a quick look around and saw none of the nice and interesting items on the Joshua Tree website (which I checked out after my failed visit), no eye-catching vintage or antique pieces. Maybe there is a second floor where the website stuff is? There was a second person who had stopped by randomly as I had so there's obviously enough interest in at least Tuesday hours. When this place IS open they close at six, so if you work till five and want to visit you better leave work early. Youngstown needs more antique / vintage / resale stores; right now Akron is the place to go for vintage shopping. Doubt I will give this place another chance.
