As far as dollar stores go, I'm pretty stoked this one is as close to me as it is. Yes the 99Cent Only stores are good, though they always have exactly the same stuff and not much variation from store to store. Thank you, Dollar King! They have tons of stuff that I can't find elsewhere for $1 and some items I find myself staring at in disbelief... because more than likely, some small child made it in some third world country and we get to purchase it for a mere dollar. Not funny, though how else they sell half the stuff they do for so cheap is a complete mystery to me... well, I guess that goes for most dollar stores but anyhow... They do have an enormous aisle devoted solely to makeup and nail polish, though I can't seem to buy makeup that isn't a brand, sorry... others seem to love it though and to be perfectly honest, I have definitely been tempted because it doesn't look too crappy. Their craft isle (yes that's right, I said it, craft isle!) is pretty awesome too considering I've never seen an entire aisle for crafts alone and it always seems to have things I could design into something else... a definite plus with the Jennster. The store is pretty large and never overly crowded, lines (if present) are always efficient and the large parking lot around the back is never full. The reason for 4 and not 5 stars is probably because I think they could stock more (if not better, more brand name) grocery items. They definitely have some but the 99Cent Only store trumps them in that category. If you need a reason to be tempted to drop by, some of the items I've picked up here were: BBQ tools with wooden handles, ie spatula, tongs, brushes & forks... helium balloons! and a decent card section for bdays, holidays & such... Little mini pet toys, always a plus for our 6 pounder ;) Tons of holiday decor... Halloween costumes (now anyway), some cool xmas ornaments (some cooler than the average plastic crap.. ie multicolored peacocks!) Gardening supplies (though I think these are somewhat seasonal), from knee pads to pots and tools, etc Craft supplies, ie foam &/or wooden letters, scrapbook paper!, stickers, acrylic paints, tons of randoms really... Get in and check it out for yourself if you're the dollar store hunting type. They really do have lots of totally unexpected finds... for crying out loud, I even found a costume jewelry ring that had a large rose setting studded with crystals... sounds tacky lol, looks nice when accessorized properly. Never buy balloons from here. I just bought some for my father's birthday and they deflated hours later. I mentioned to the manager that there's a solution you can put inside the balloon that makes it stay afloat longer and he said that it's the same everywhere... Latex balloons only last 6 hours. No... Not true. On top on that, they don't exchange seasonal items which is honestly my bad because they have signage that says so, but the fact that Christmas is still two months away and you won't take back the one Christmas item I bought 2 days ago that is in the same pristine condition "because if I do it for you I'll have to do it for everyone else" is pathetic customer service. On top of that... No returns. Only exchanges. Overall, the customer/client experience is terrible. I get that it's a dollar store, but have some compassion. read more

I loved this spot. I've only been once, but it was a noteworthy experience. They have soooo many things there, and are super organized. It's definitely a better experience than going to your typical .99 or dollar tree. I love them both, but if Dollar King was closer, that would definitely be my go-to spot first. Also, it is HUGE. they have a party-supply SECTION. Not an aisle. I love it! Worth a shot to check out. And go when you have lots of time. Also, their parking is ok. My trip there was close to closing time, so there was enough parking, but I imagine during the day it would be a little busy. However, there's lots of accessible street parking nearby. read more

Oh my god! I'm so happy this store opened up ACROSS THE STREET from me! Now I just walk across the street to buy cheap stuff. EVERYTHING is $1 or LESS. Great for starving actors. Good brand name items too. 64oz apple juice for $1? Where else can you get that? A can of Apple Sauce for 25 cents? You have to judicious though: there are SOME things you can get cheaper at Vons or Ralph's (like Ice cream bars), though overall the deals are great and they are just now opening a modest produce section for fresh fruits and vegetables. As for the staff, yeah, don't expect much. Many are very friendly. Some seem like High School kids with a typical attitude. Just go there for the deals, ignore the kids. UPDATE: 7/18/12 they've since removed their produce section and are slowly reducing their food section so they're not as good as before. Dollar Tree and 99c store have a better food selection. Still, this place has some unique items you can't find anywhere else. $1 for a pack of 4x5 photo paper? read more

Dollar King is my favorite dollar store. I could get stuck here for hours and only leave with one thing. Okay I'm exaggerating a little. I usually leave this place with a variety of glass jars/containers (for food and arts and crafts), random household needs, lipliner, and candy. They have a really big section for party and holiday decorations. As soon as summer was wrapping up, the store was already set up for Halloween/Thanksgiving. This is a great store to find things for arts and crafts such as hot glue guns, acrylic paint, yarn, poster boards, etc. Pretty much anything a kid needs for a school project. read more

Best dollar place around. Love coming here for all basic household items since it really does have a good mix of items. Also has an excellent "Party" area complete with a full array of party favors, decorations and balloons. Love this dollar king location. Better than the other 2 on Foothill. They have everything!!! Great selection of beauty products, holiday items, gift wrap, etc. I'm writing this review because I had a great experience there yesterday. I went in with my cousin and picked up a few christmas items. When we got to the register to pay, I realized I was missing $30 from my purse. My cousin ended up paying. I got to the car n didn't find my $30 anywhere! We got home then decided it was a long shot but maybe, just maybe we woild be able to find my cash at the store where I assumed I accodently dropped. Got back to dollar king and looked everywhere and of course didn't find it....I saw a few employees and randomly decided to ask one of they had foumd any cash. He looked right at me and said "$30??" And I was soooo surprisedddd....I said "yesss" he took me to another female wmployee and asked her about the cash that ahe found earlier. Long story short, she explained that she found it and some customer was present at the time. She gave the $30 to the manager jist incase someone claimed it. She said the lady who saw her pick it up off the rack went up to the manager and pretended it was her $30 she lost. Basically, a lying desperate customer claimed the cash and the manager believed her. Anyway, they calles the manager and he came back and explained the situation to me again and said "we are sorry! He had the other employee take out $30 and gave it to me. WoW!!!! I thought this was one of the nicest things a person has done! I mean I dropped my cash in the store. It was MY fault. However, the really nice young female Armenian employee found it (did not pocket it like most ppl would do) and gave it to the manager. Thennnnn the really nice Armenian male wmployee or possibly the owner not really sure, was nice wnough to call the manager and explain the situation and try to get my money (well not really because another customer took it) and give it back to me. Hope my story was clear..anyway, this is probably the best customer service I have ever experienced. Its one pf those stories ill share with others. Thank you Dollar King!!!! A special thanks to the Armenian girl who found the cash and was furious another customer took it lol!!! I wish I got her name....she was too nice! I even saw her interracting with another customer and she was greatttt! I mean u don't expect to get much service from a dollar store but this girl was treating customers as if they were shopping at neiman marcus.....as for the two male employees (armenian and hispanic) they were excellent as well. It's not a dollar store it's $1.11 + tax. They do have variety in products BUT know each item will cost minimum $1.21, there're things that cost more. $0.12 cents more doesn't sound much, but I usually buy 30+ items in each haul read more

Seriously, I mean it when I say that they havr everything in here! I was looking for a styrofoam to make my cake pops stand for a baby shower. I found some already and was holding on to it, but little did I know that this place has something I would prefer even more. Flower foams! I wasn't really expecting they'd have it here! If your a guy just trying to get by and wanna stop by here for some cheap essentials....forget it. all I found were tasty unsalted roasted sunflower seeds from malaysia or something...99 cents for a nice full pouch and taste great. I don't know why so many good reviews people wrote. My experience was not so great. I came here the first time, I just needed a lighter. 1. The parking lot is awful. Not enough of space. 2. The enter/exit from parking is only for the ONE car wide. It is uncomfortable and dangerous. 3. A long and slow line. 4. They advertise that everything costs no more than 1.11, but the lighter price was 1.21. I did not go inside to see the whole market, only bought it at the register. They have top notch items here, I got a salt rock candle holder here for a buck and at urban they are $10!! I honestly wish I had a location that was closer! My sister introduced me to this location and I love it! Parking is a hassle and small. The location is a little dirty, and when you get in, you would assume that this place would be tiny. It isn't! They have a wide selection of items to choose from. What I love the most is that they have a room just for party supplies, arts and crafts! I was pretty shocked that they had mardi gras mask. A beautiful selection! An actual parking lot, unlike that "99 & up" store that was down the block on Colorado. People inside that are helpful, although I don't really know what you'd need help with. And a gargantuan amount of stuff. Balloons too. I don't think I've been able to spend under $75 every visit here because I make an excuse to buy everything - and for a dollar, how can you be mad? The wife and I were pleasantly surprised by this place. There's rows and rows of stuff and it's not crowded in between the aisles like Daiso. It was a lot bigger than it looked on the outside and not a bad selection overall. You'll find things you never knew you needed. Everything is as described, all stuff are 0.99$ or our around 1$. It's really cool if you need stuff for your party you can come and buy all stuff here for really cheap prices. The only reason why I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because I think it needs a little remodeling and that's all! I was taking my girls to Taco Bell and we saw a sign that says toilet tissue so we turn around and I send my girls in to get one pack of tissue we have always been people who only take what we need . This place is amazing, it really has EVERYTHING. I was able to get decorations for Christmas, zip ties, art supplies (small canvas', brushes, stickers, etc.), even hardware supplies. I went in to get two large numbers "1 & 8" plus a few regular sized balloons. Upon my arrival the the "8" balloon was damaged the girl said. I'm not sure how as i dropped it off still in the packaging. Then she tells me not to worry she won't charge for it. Okay? Thanks. So now I have to drive further to look for another 8 balloon. And 5hrs later.. the 1 balloon is deflating. I mean that was the point to get helium in these so that they last longer than using regular air. All the other balloons are doing fine so I think she just didn't know how to blow these up and she could've just said so. I would have gone somewhere else. read more

I love this place, it's has a variety of items. It's a big store that's has mostly what your are looking for, except for grocery items not much of that. Staff is friendly and helpful. Parking sucks when it's packed. If someone is coming out of the lot and you're going in, one of you has to back up all the way to let the other go through. They did put mirrors near the exit so you could see. False eyelashes galore!!!!!!! Yes yes yes yes!!!!!!!!! I have lashes as expensive as $30 and the ones from here are my fave. They also have a great party selection for quick decorations, like a flag table cloth for 4th of July, to an assortment of neon glow sticks for concerts.
