It is VERY big and my feet hurt by the time I leave there. But I'm still glad I went in because I always find things in here that the stores near me don't have.

Speaking of Michael's, that's where I was when I heard of this place. I was looking for a purple fine Sharpie marker which Michael's used to carry, as did Walmart and some of the office supply stores. I had already checked at Walmart with no luck and they no longer sold the separate markers at Michaels either. Fortunately I asked the young man at the cashier counter about it and he suggested I try Mardels next door. I walked in and looked around for a little bit, then asked the clerk if they had a pens and pencils or stationery supplies section. She pointed me to the section with the pens and pencils and lo and behold there were the separate markers on the bottom shelf. I not only found the purple Sharpie I was wanting for $1.69 but also a lavender highlighter which for some reason are getting harder to find, and another purple pen that I really liked, plus a fine black permanent marker by Le Pen that I have bought before, usually at Hobby Lobby, but didn't have with me on my trip. I I spent about $8 and left happy that I had found what I was looking for. Aside from the pens they have tons of books and movies and all kinds of Christian oriented merchandise. The clerk's were very helpful and cheerful. It was a great find.

I liked this store. It reminded me of how Big Lots used to be before they turned into a Target…read morestore. Big Lots used to get discontinued items that other stores were moving out to make way for new merchandise and they had real cheap prices. Over the years I saw them change to a store that carries basic merchandise that is very similar to what a Target or Walmart would carry. Tuesday morning still has that wide variety of products and you never know what you will find there on any given visit. They almost always have a little bit of yarn although they didn't have any that I could use today, no acrylic, only wool and cotton. They had a wider variety of scrapbooking and craft items than I remembered. They had lots of pots and pans and dishes and kitchen items, Linens, figurines, candles, fragrances and lotions, even some food items like cookie mixes, coffee syrup flavorings, candies and cookies. I didn't see any coffees and only saw a pumpkin flavored tea that I can recall. I wandered around for about an hour and spent under $20 but it was very entertaining if you enjoy just walking around and looking. I also think it would good be a good place to look for a gift item. There were plenty of customers, not crowded but bustling. I encountered one clerk who was extremely nice, a young girl who asked if I needed any help and if I wanted her to go get me a basket. The cashier was much more blase like she wished she was someplace else. I didn't have occasion to use the restroom. The store is barely visible from the outside, being overshadowed by the Big Lots store next door, but on the inside it's really quite big and full of lots of goodies.

Actually…read moreI tried a few days before I actually made it in but even though the sign said they were open till 8, they were only open till 7 I guess. I sat in my car and tried to decide what to do next and saw about 30 different people within the next half-hour that went up to the door trying to go in about 7 to 7:30 p.m. . I mentioned it to a young man who asked me if I needed any help when I finally got in there and he said the first week they were only open till 7 because they hadn't gotten all their inventory in and didn't have a lot to sell. I wandered around I looked at just about everything but I just didn't see anything that I needed or wanted except for a couple bags of snacks up front. It's all self serve but there is someone to help you if you have difficulty ringing it up.

If someone came in in a wheelchair there's no way they would be able to navigate. Their prices are always higher than the Dollar Tree even for the same items. I don't even know why they use the name Dollar General because most of their stuff is over a dollar, much of it is way over a dollar. The clerk was very nice and they had what I was looking for, plain white file cards for cheap and a couple of black markers. It will never be my first choice to shop but it's handy that there are so many of them around if you can't find what you're looking for elsewhere.
