Plenty of parking and delicious places to eat nearby. Found some really good shoes here and my friend bought a super fancy stone top solid wood bedroom set for pennies on the dollar. In other words this is a nonprofit organization, and after they've paid off all their costs, the rest is donated towards those affected by disasters. One thing that impressed me about this store was the large quantity of very good quality furnishings at very reasonable prices. As a matter of fact, you'll find that almost everything donated here is of a higher quality than you'll find at your average Goodwill, and at around the same price. They do have a very good selection of quality clothing, but it does not dominate the floor. There are three dressing rooms and they have very clean bathrooms (and you don't need a key). Next to the entrance of the shop is their donation area. I was so impressed with the mission of this thrift store that from this point on I will be bringing my donations here instead of Goodwill. This thrift store should definitely be on your radar if you're looking for some good quality items. Plenty of photos to entice you.

I have been able to find quality skirts and dresses throughout the year. This is also the only place in town I've been able to find the Levi's that fit me. I recently found myself in a rush to find a formal dress for an event that popped up on me. I crossed my fingers and rushed to the store and found a, albeit small, selection of appropriate dresses to choose from. I was saved! I'm also pleased with their annual coat sale in December. You can get a steal after Christmas! Ok, it's Austin--how much do you really need a winter coat? Well, you know our random winter events; grab this sale!

We coordinated outfits and paid for professional makeup in advance to be fully prepared. When we arrived, we were told the studio was over an hour behind schedule because one employee arrived late and another did not show up. Due to the delay, we were forced to cancel the appointment, as my daughter would not have been able to complete the shoot before leaving for the airport. All we received was an apology. There was no accommodation, rescheduling priority, or compensation, despite the inconvenience and financial loss. The cost of the makeup alone exceeded the price of the photo shoot, making this experience especially frustrating. Scheduling and staffing issues happen, but when clients invest time, money, and careful coordination for a meaningful moment, better accountability and customer care are expected.

There used to be a Target but RIP. So Ross it is. Ross is at the bottom tier of these type of stores. If you remember K-mart the interior is bright and florescent. Everything is on racks. It's one of the larger Ross stores I've been in. I found some socks that I needed to buy and went to the amusement park line to the cashier. Here you can find lots of impulse snacks and gadgets. These stores always get busy mid afternoon just when your thinking your missing all the people picking up stuff after work. They had one cashier but the line started to get long so they opened another cash register. Ross has always been the lower end of the big 3 and they've always had security guards at the door even in the late 1900s. This one was slightly different as they inspect your bags and look at your receipt before leaving - I suggest going to Melrose nearby or drive further out to a Marshall's or TJ Maxx if you can so you don't have to deal with the feeling like you are in prison.

Kohl's - The main reason I visit Kohl's: Amazon Returns!

I've been a Kohl's customer for many, many years, but no longer. I doubt I will buy anything here…read moreagain. They so rarely had my size in Levis that I just stopped looking, anyway. I can go to the Levis website and order the exact pair I want in my size and they will be on my doorstep in a day or two. So why bother coming to Kohl's anymore? Amazon Returns. A few days ago, I was here for an Amazon return and they handed me a coupon for 20% off my purchase at Kohl's. So I thought I'd use it. In a nutshell, that 20% off coupon Amazon gives you is bullshit. Allow me to explain... I went to the area where all of the men's sportswear clothing used to be to discover that there wasn't much to choose from. There was a lot of Champion gear, but their track pants felt like burlap. Seriously. Burlap. Nevertheless, I found a nice pair of Under Armor joggers. Good enough. I also found a Yellowstone board game (a gift for my parents - they love the TV show - shush, don't tell'em I got'em that until after this Christmas). My wife got some bras. So three totally unrelated items: pants, bras, and board game. While checking out, however, we were informed that we wouldn't be getting 20% off of anything because the coupon wouldn't work for the things we wanted. It says it all right there, in that tiny font wording on the coupon that no naked eye can read, the giant list of everything in the store that the 20% doesn't apply to. After I took the coupon home and put it under my microscope so I could read it, I would venture to say that the 20% off coupon does not work for 95% of the stuff for sale within Kohl's. After paying a lot more than we thought we would have to pay for our stuff, we were walking out when I noticed that there was a second larger location for the rest of the men's sportswear on the other side of the registers, hidden behind all their Christmas stuff. Silly me! Why didn't I just look behind the mound of Christmas swag back where the women's clothes used to be for my men's pants?! This store sucks. Unless there are some big changes, I doubt Kohl's will be around much longer. This place continues to go downhill, year after year. I seriously doubt that putting a Sephora in the middle of the store will save them. I remember when Blockbuster Video tried to save themselves by having a Radio Shack outlet that sold a small selection of cords, batteries, adapters, etc. in some of their stores. That did not work out for either of them in the end, and I predict history repeating itself in the end with Kohl's (Sephora may survive, though). Hopefully, by the time Kohl's goes under Amazon will have a drone service available to pick up my returns in my driveway.
