If you do not mind reading labels, looking at exp. dates, don't mind dents, dints, and ripped boxes-- if you don't mind hunting for bargain and even things you didn't even know you needed --- if you don't mind planning your meals around the deals you find --- then this IS the place for you. I find so many bargains here and so many healthy choices on a budget.... there have been a few things over the years where the item was stale (rice cakes or cereal) but other than that, I have never had a problem with anything I bought here.

On Forth Street between Water and Saginaw, this small boutique has great curb appeal. The side of the shop has a fantastic courtyard and garden, adorned with various plants and gardens. For the first time ever, I did a somewhat large Big Lots curbside order. It was a mistake. I has my…read morehusband and son pick it up and they were given 1 big bag. When I went through it, most of my order was missing. I called and was put on hold without being asked who I was. When she came back she said, 'I'm sorry, you still have 2 bags sitting here'. I sent them back to retrieve the 2 bags and there was still 2 items missing from the order. I was very unhappy, but decided to let it go, because gas costs more than the $2.58 I was losing. Later on I decided to look at one of the other products that I purchased 2 pkgs of, and discovered that each package only contained 1, when it was supposed to contain 3, which means I paid 3 times more for 3 times less. (I chose the 3 pk in the first place, to make shopping a little less painful for whomever got stuck doing it. I should have chosen the 1 pk). By this time, I'm feeling like a teapot ready to boil over. It was getting late and I didn't want to handle the situation entirely inappropriately, so I decided to wait until I calmed down to call the next day, about that and the other items that I had originally decided to just forget about. The next day came and I decided to take the loss, because to go back a 3rd time, I'd still be taking a loss, just not as big. I don't plan on shopping there again, not even if we're in a pinch, unless we're doing it ourselves. The way things are for us/me right now though, that probably means we just won't be shopping at the Bay City store ever again. :(

When we finally were able to find someone to help, she said she'd be right with us. Fifteen minutes later, we were still waiting. And it took another ten minutes of walking the store to find someone else...who made the same promise and then walked away. Finally, the original woman showed up. We waited literally 25 minutes to get a case unlocked! (And yes we debated multiple times about just leaving; we would have if we weren't so interested in the item.) Hopefully this was just a bad day for customer service and they can actually do better. (It was only our second visit, so I don't know how typical it was.)

I was also returning two new $1 tote bags, unfolded until literally today when putting my returning clothes in and she said "you're returning these bags?" Yes. "Well I'm going to have to see if we can get these back to their original shape." And folded it very slowly. Ashley is rude, unprofessional, and not efficient. Will not be returning back to the store because of this embarrassing situation.

"More than just coats," right? Well, we weren't greeted when we walked in and there weren't any employees in the men's department. There were a few suit jackets but not in the size we were looking for. After looking for a while we did eventually see a sales associate but she was busy helping three customers while there were several cashiers doing nothing. Yes, you can get cheap clothes here but the selection is very limited and the service leaves a lot to be desired. You get what you pay for. The only reason that I gave two stars was because they have Steve Harvey brand suits and that made me laugh. (:
