This location recently turned into a Dollar Tree. It used to be a pet supply store that had a few animals and some really interesting-looking fish. I used to stop by here when I went to Creams and Dreams just to look at all the fish. There's also a Painting with a Twist next door. I'm sad that the pet store closed down, but this Dollar Tree is decent for a couple of reasons. Like a true dollar store, everything here is priced at simply $1. Not only that, but they have a pretty good selection of items that I actually cared to purchase that weren't trash. I bought some air freshener for the bathroom, kleenex tissues, a pack of two sizable rolls of electric tape, some picture frames that looked fancier than $1, plus a few other items. All were off-brand items, of course. With that said.. don't expect great customer service from a dollar store.

I haven't been in a dollar store in a VERY long time. I'm hosting a baby shower at work and I'm on a budget, so I took a chance and boy did it pay off! They have a whole baby shower section and I bought all the paper goods I needed for less than $20! Plastic table clothes, paper plates, napkins, cups and cutlery all matched and say "Baby Girl." All items look brand new, not as if they have been sitting on a shelf forever. I looked around the whole store. Very well organized and up to date with upcoming holidays. They have items from kitchen to bathroom of decent quality. I was really impressed with their kitchen selection of dish towels and pot holders. They don't have silicone, but hey, it's $1. There is even a frozen food section!

This place is just any other dollar store, messy, noisy, and cheap!

To me I give this place 3 star because 5 star should be a store that's clean, organized and well maintained. Though this is just another dollar tree that you can find anywhere.

The Mustard Seed Thrift Store is a ministry outreach of the Davie United Methodist Church. You can find it in a small building to the left of the church. The Mustard Seed Thrift Shop is open every Saturday 9 AM to 1 PM. The thrift store is staffed with church volunteers and they take donations while the store is open. They accept and sell gently used clothing, children's toys and clothes, and small household items. Prices are very in expensive, clothing is only a dollar for an example and the church provides clothing vouchers for those in need if they contact the church office. I saw some interesting glass items, some of which may have been vintage. Patient church volunteers were giving a math lesson to some children buying toys. Although on the small side, this is a cute, welcoming store and the prices can't be beat. There are also several other thrift stores in the area so you can add the Mustard Seed to a thrifting circuit in Davie.

They abandoned the concept of the traditional church pulpit in favor of preaching directly to the people most in need. Despite the disapproval of the church, Booth took his ministry to the poor, homeless, hungry, and destitute. After training evangelists all over England, the couple returned to the west end of London in 1875 and formed their organization, the Christian Mission. In 1878 while reading the annual report for the Christian Mission he noticed the phrase "The Christian Mission is a volunteer army." William Booth crossed out volunteer army and replaced it with salvation army. From then on converts became soldiers of Christ or Salvationists. The groups message spread quickly and today they serve over 100 countries. The Salvation Army has churches throughout the world called Salvation Army corps but they are probably best known for their thrift stores. When items are purchased at the stores the money supports the Salvation Army's emergency relief efforts and programs. Unlike a lot of businesses the Salvation Army will hire ex felons. Some of the shops support the Adult Rehabilitation Centers which help people combat addiction. When you donate to or buy from the Salvation Army you are helping to support many worthwhile programs. I discovered this Salvation Army store while driving through Pembroke Pines. It used to be a Rooms to Go and the large size of the building caught my eye. As an avid thrifter I am always up to exploring a new store and this location was busy on a Saturday afternoon. Inside was one of the nicest Salvation Army stores I have ever been in South Florida although it still had that distinctive musty odor if you know what I mean. In the front of the store you will find large pieces of furniture like sofas, desks, and tables. Towards the back of the store are racks upon racks of clothes all organized by color and type. The amount of clothes was truly astounding. I feel like they could clothe the entire city of Pembroke Pines. Rounding out the inventory are accessories, home goods, toys, and books. If you were starting out in your first apartment you could get most of what you need here. Some of the things I picked up weren't in the best condition as they were broken or chipped. Take the time to really examine every item before you purchase. That said, if you ae a bargain hunter you will be in your element.
