We have had people decline to offer a deal on several occasions, but have never been yelled at and told we couldn't purchase anything! Most of the time our offers are accepted, because the sellers are motivated to move their stock and bring in new stuff and want people to have a positive experience. I have never had an experience like this before, and hope others don't either. Their are so many wonderful stores snd proprietors out there. I couldn't in good consciousness recommend this one!

I have made three calls to make those arrangements and none of them have been returned. They were also supposed to get a price on a lamp that was unmarked and then call me with that information and they did not do that either. I get that it's a once a month, flea market type sale, however, we are talking about customer service bottom line. They were happy to take my money, but evidently not to interested in delivering their merchandise. I would think twice before making any other purchase and certainly never buy something that I can't take with me.

Tucked away from the busy Water Street shopping area in downtown Excelsior, Ace carries a fantastic assortment of mens tees, sweatshirts, hats, jewelry, bags and grooming gear. I wish they had a location in Minneapolis proper (the vibe is perfect for the North Loop), but it's worth the drive. This will quickly become my go-to spot for mens gifts because they literally have everything you need to curate a unique gift set: Cool cards? Check. Unique candles? Yep. Affordably priced jewelry and grooming kits? Check and check. On a recent trip in I picked up a great gold bracelet, a locally-made wood storage crate for my dog's toys and a Huckberry tabletop fire pit, all for under $200 total. The bracelet is a great addition to my formal wear, while the fire pit is a nice fit for my small patio (clean burning using Isopropyl alcohol). The storage crate is short and durable, perfect for my dog to easily identify the toys he wants to play with. Service at Ace is excellent - All staff are super knowledgable of the products and will often tell you the artist or brand they're sourced from. I can't recommend them enough. Next time you're in need of a gift for the guy in your life, skip Target and head for Ace General Store!

Ended up grabbing "So Much For That Winter," a book of novellas by Dorthe Nors. What struck me more than the book was the friendliness of the shop owners, a husband and wife duo. As more people stopped by, it was clear that there were many regulars. Both owners gave recommendations and welcomed people by name. Even as I was checking out, I was charmed that they wrote purchased books down on pen and paper. A true mom and pop bookstore. I hope to return the next time I'm in town - please support small businesses so gems like this can continue to make communities better!
