So this Treasure Hunt recently opened up in Cornwall's East Court Shopping Plaza on March 15, 2019…read more The Ides of March! Hopefully no one involved is named Caesar! Lol. Anyway, so I was first introduced to Treasure Hunt at Dixie Mall in Mississauga. It's a big outlet store with everything from clothes and shoes, to toys, housewares, bicycles and tools. In my opinion, a lot of their stuff is junk, but there are hidden gems for those with the time and patience to look. When I was there, they had some Banana Republic dresses for $30. They also had lots of Athleta (the athletic wear brand owned by The Gap) pieces for $4. They also had lots of brands that were of no interest to me though, like George from Walmart and Merona from Target, so I had to wade through those, but hey "treasure hunt" is the name of the game, right? ;) Admittedly, the cool stuff was only in sizes 00-4 and XXS-S, so good for the likes of me, but if you are a larger size, you may not have the same luck. They had lots of discount toys, but most of the boxes were opened or pretty bunged up. I was at the Brockville location a few weeks earlier, and the selection at that store was better in my opinion, and the prices were lower for certain things too. Anyway, if you like outlet/discount/liquidation type stores, then you'll probably like Treasure Hunt. It's definitely not for everyone, lol. Lots of free parking in the plaza.

While waiting for the traffic lights to change, I liked seeing a store directory. I came here without any knowledge of the stores here. I liked coming here to figure it out. The Trainyards is like Heartland Town Centre in Mississauga. It is a bunch of stores that cover a lot of land. Think of it as a neighbourhood of stores. You have to strategically figure out where to park and walk to the stores that are around you. During my visit, I parked a grand total of three times. I stopped by Michaels and got some good items that were on sale. I was a happy shopper! I then parked in front of the Gap outlet. I also visited Old Navy and Sail that were on either side of the store. I then decided to drive and check out what other stores were there. I spotted Kettleman's Bagel Co. and parked to have lunch. The selection of stores is cool. If you are more of a mall shopper, this setup may not be for you. If you do like box stores, you'd like it here. My only problem I had was dealing with a woman in a minivan who was waiting for me to leave my spot to pull through. She actually honked at me. I didn't appreciate it and gave her a signal to say that I was staying. I was pulling up my GPS and I was under no obligation to move out of a parking spot to convenience an impatient idiot. (289)

We researched a…read morebunch of places in and around the Ottawa area and decided to add Sinders to our list of shops to try. Dress shopping can be a little bit intimidating as each store has different rules and regulations as to how they operate (whether you need an appointment, if you're allowed to pull your own dresses, etc, etc...). Neither my friend nor I are pros at wedding dress shopping, so we were kind of out of our element. They were very welcoming at Sinders and allowed us to pull the dresses we liked from the racks. The stylist that was assisting us, Debbie, also made suggestions, but it wasn't done in a pushy way at all. She was fantastic at selecting dresses that flattered my friend's figure and she made the task of selecting the perfect dress far less daunting! My friend ended up finding her dress at Sinders and the process was thoroughly enjoyable! BONUS: They offer 10% off the bridesmaids dresses if you buy your wedding dress from them. :)

I cannot recommend Sinders to anyone shopping for bridesmaid dresses…read more While the dresses are beautiful, the Customer Service is absolutely terrible. Each time we visited, we were not helped nor greeted for at least 10 minutes, and when we finally were acknowledged, we felt like an inconvenience every time - even with our appointment booked ahead of time. The Sales Assistant helping us the day we purchased was very rude to one girl. This girl felt bullied over her size, even though she is not large, and felt coerced into buying two sizes too big. The Sales Assistant did not seem to really give her an option to order her proper size, and proceeded to tell her a dress was too small for her as she had to hold it up in place because it was too large. When the dresses finally came in, we were appalled at how large this girl's dress was on her - at least two sizes too big, as we had thought. The new Sales Assistant that we had asked her why on earth she had ordered a dress so big. This girl almost burst into tears, she was so insulted and frustrated. The Sales Assistant proceeded to try and convince her that the dress was easily fixed. It might be an 'easy' fix, but it will cost as it is massive on her. Major hemming, major take-ins around the bust and waist, etc. The material was swimming around her. The worst part of all of this is that neither Sales Assistants would listen to the girl or myself as we advocated our preferences and opinions. We respected their expertise and sales savviness, but when something is clearly too large, the customer can tell - particularly when there is excess material or the dress is falling down. We felt that our thoughts were being blatantly ignored and that we were not being listened to as the Customer. I cannot recommend this place until they improve their Customer Service. The dresses, however, are beautiful, and we are appreciative of that.

I revisited the outlet again last September. I am a Gap girl. I like the fact that I can get casual clothing at decent, reduced prices at any Gap outlet. This one is no exception. Both times, I bought some wonderful pieces. I fondly recall getting a jean skirt that had wonderful Lycra stretch to it. I got it for $10! The last time I was there, I got many nice articles of clothing, including a lightweight t-shirt that had various attractions in San Francisco, and a navy blue knitted cardigan with a hoodie. The first time I was there, I recall the male staff member cashing me out and how friendly he was. I bought a lot of items, but didn't break the bank. He gave me $50 worth of Gap cash, which you can redeem a bit later. I redeemed the $50 at the Gap outlet in Ajax. The woman there thought it was cool to see Gap cash entirely in French! I had the same experience the last time I was at the outlet. The woman was friendly and helpful. I love this location. It is my go-to place when I am nearby. (30)

You may have heard of the Amish Store in Balderson for the fine, sturdy, and well built furniture…read morethey offer for sale. However, you may not know that they have started building kitchens. YES - KITCHENS! Their creations are absoluty divine! I was convinced to use their services simply by what they have on display. I thought we could buy what they were showing, bring it home and put it in, but then we talked to Debbie... OMG what an experience! She came to our house, measured the space, and asked us what features we wanted to put in our own kitchen, then drew it all out on paper. The price of the quote she was able to provide us was very comparable to what other companies are offering even though this kitchen is all hand made, but it was also soooo much more - begining with the fact that it was built out of solid wood instead of pressboard or melamine. Add to that the many features built into it, which puts this kitchen way over and above what anyone else is offering! This kitchen MAKES the house! Put it this way: where most kitchen design companies and box store cabinet providers charge for any improvements over the shape of your boxy cabinets, the Amish store will build cupboards that fit in your kitchen, and will include so called upgrades such as that little shelf below the sink to hold rubber gloves, sponges, and your jewellery while you wash dishes; a spice drawer with shelves in it; pot drawers; recycling containers; up and down slats to hold your bakeware; and a roll-out cutting board and anything else you can think of. If you are considering kitchen designs - whether to upgrade your current kitchen, or for a new home build - I strongly urge you to compare with what the Amish Store has to offer. And PS: If by chance you have NOT heard of them, I strongly suggest you make a trip out to see them - even if you're not looking for a kitchen or furniture! Balderson is an enjoyable drive out in the country. Why not make a day of it? Take in the cheese shop, grab a bite to eat in the cafe, or go to the local tea room. Last spring, I sent an e-mail through the store's "contact us" with an inquiry and received no reply. So, in the summer, I drove to Balderson and spoke with a sales person who, at the time, was unable to give me a price on the table and chairs that I wished to order. She took my name and e-mail address in order to send the information to me. Well, I have never received an e-mail or telephone call. I am surprised by the lack of respect for a potential customer. I had planned to buy multiple rooms of furniture but given the lack of respect I have been shown, I won't be returning. I'll take my business to a store which shows some respect for its customers.
